I'm already finished. is history.
You can chime in here then ...

@Tinkeringbell Right.
@AnneDaunted why?
@Catija because this
@Catija It's back to the blogs now. Forums are so 2010
@rene To be fair, if a tag has 10 questions only, I don't see much point in wasting a whole meta thread and a whole lot of time on deciding to burninate it

You should mention that in the post
I'm too intimidated by the almighty Servy
Whoops did I say that out loud?
I'll let my anger subside a bit before I respond there
Oh you're more intimidating now

I believe a meta discussion for a barely used tag with no clear purpose, where no reasonable person would disagree with the removal is just overkill and a waste of time.
but that leeway is only allowed and documented in the MSO burnination process
@SonictheInclusiveHedgehog Careful you don't accidentally call people unreasonable. Saying a tag has no clear purpose is fine; assuming that there are no reasonable disagreements is likely to start fights.
@ArtOfCode There are no reasonable disagreements to that sentence
technically Josh has a fair point and we have been doing it wrong
@rene However, more has been done with less hassle with a slight dent in rules
I don't want 7 consecutive questions on why a meta.SE tag with 5 questions should stay

@Mith's accessibility posts are enough, thank you very much :p
And oh man, alpha keto diet.
We need some more of those
Dec 19, 2018 19:50
@M.A.R.ಠ_ಠ only one more in the queue...
Then I have to start poking the mod tools for accessibility
Hip hip hooray
And then start in on High Contrast mode. ;)
Try inverted mouse and mobile keyboards
And weaker connections
@Mithrandir I was using High Contrast mode for some time because this. It worked fine at the time, though.
I believe said tag's removal is overkill and a waste of time.

Also China, blocked JS or something, I forgot
that's good
What doesn't China block?
Dollars
The other direction
@KevinB I didn't have a specific tag in mind
My general impression, however, was they were all tags with fewer than 20 questions and who haven't been applied to questions in quite a while
Not to mention they were so vague so they were being inconsistently applied as well
Yeah but if there's like a rule somewhere that those also have to be discussed, I'd personally like people to follow that rule. Rules rule!
I don't really have an issue with small, useless tags being nuked after a chat discussion. Anything with more than 20 questions with the tag being properly used probably needs a post, though...
And discussing this probably shouldn't happen in chat either :P

@Mithrandir amen
It is rather ironic. ;)

@Mithrandir It's M.A.R. ಠ_ಠ's fault.
Happy @M.A.R.ಠ_ಠ?
@SmokeDetector shut
@Mithrandir Only slightly
Should we have Smokey blame you again to cheer you up?

@Mithrandir It's M.A.R. ಠ_ಠ's fault.

I don't see a causation
Right, it's invisible
SHHHHH NO IT'S MAGIC
Questionable, unscientific methods

@SonictheInclusiveHedgehog It's Tinkeringbell's fault.

(sorry, stepped away) my issue with that is there's no discussion of it. No chance for someone to disagree, if anyone can just freely go out there and burninate a new tag that hasn't been used often because they feel it is unnecessary. That's a lot of power in 1 person without any checks, doing something that isn't easily undone. Unnecessary tags isn't a problem that warrants swift action, it's usually not a real problem, just a minor annoyance.

There's no reason we can't just go through the same process as any other burnination with them.
Personally i'm more annoyed by the front page being filled with interesting posts that end up being years old than i am with an irrelevant tag on said old post
it's simply not usually worth the effort to discuss; of course, if someone is removing useful tags, that's a different problem
I'm not a fan of tags being removed and leaving only the one required meta tag. It's the equivalent of being untagged.
@KevinB 1) The unnecessary part maybe got too much of an emphasis. The tags were vague or meta or SOME form of bad, other than not having been used for months, and 2) Well yeah, I guess the pace could use some adjusting. Front page floods are never fun
As an example, was recently cleared out, but because there's no discussion on it, who knows what it was replaced with so we can look back at those questions to see whether or not it was warranted
But the alternative I see isn't fun either: Normal meta regs get bored of tag discussions about an unimportant tag way too easily to even get the third burnination done.

You can all discuss this now on MSE as there is an answer now
I feel lazy now
But I upboated your answer
