@JeremyBanks Thanks. That was the one I was looking for.
I see that search has changed, and the comment-entry widget.

@tchrist How did the comment form change?

@JeremyBanks If you overtype past the max char-unit count, it gives you a different notification.

12:44 AM
Wow, I thought we'd have 'til midnight for the hats.

@tchrist It's on the MSO sidebar, in case you need to find it again
@tchrist Not unless you want Jeff to bash your head in with a giant S

A: A new search engine for Stack Exchange

Tim Yi JiangThe question result interface is much, much worse than the old one. Compare: against Yes, the new interface is much more compact, but some of the most important information about a post - the number of votes, views, answers and whether it has an accepted answer are either missing (in the ...

"This question was edited after it was closed. Should it be reopened?" - YESSSSSSS THIS FEATUREEEE

@TimYiJiang I hate Cupcakes.
@animuson !!! Did you get a notification or something?

@JeremyBanks No, it showed up in the Reopen Votes queue

@animuson Ah, even more awesome!

It shows the question and has an extra "Revision" tab that shows the diff between the original and new question

Uggghh, I hate bad heuristics.

Q: Correct tag elasticsearch

Lance RobertsSomeone created the tag elastic-search, but it should be 'elasticsearch' as per the name of the product. Then when I tried to create it, the stupid heuristic refused to let me because of the other tag. Please create the correct tag, and synonym the one with the dash to it. There are only three...

Didn't Nick Craver create the tag?

Could be, guess he has the power to change it then.

Q: Rude responses from the community

caiosm1005This has not happened to me. This thread is based on random questions I've seen around. I love Stack Overflow. The variety of answered questions is stellar. Very often, Google leads me to SO on my programming researches. The community is very organized: all the sanitizing made through moderation...

There's a part of me that hopes that a developer would post an answer as Community ♦

The interface changes are quite intentional, since the only piece of information missing is the views (which were used very little in our testing - "what does it matter how much someone else saw this?") you're just seeing a more compact interface. It's the only option really without being even more jarring since other result types besides questions and answers will appear later, mixing more than 3+ types of result formats is...yeah. The closed: operator was a bug (same for hasaccepted:) that will be fixed in the next build...these should indeed return questions only. — Nick Craver 3 mins ago

:(
It's annoying enough that I might want to make a userscript for this

Q: Don't stop me from creating a similar tag when the tag is new / renaming new tags

Tim Yi JiangSomebody on Arqade just created a [windows8] tag. Unfortunately this isn't consistent the other Windows tag, such as [windows-xp] and [windows-7], so I tried renaming it to [windows-8]. Unfortunately the system picked this up and helpfully pointed out that the [windows8] tag already exists - yes,...

6:15 AM
When did the tag get it's image?
Hilarious... and slightly ugly. What's with the (lack of) anti-aliasing?
And... it's gone
That was weird

Q: Frowny face bug tag

Austin HenleyFor the first time I saw a graphical frowny face in the bug tag. I thought this was odd since I have never seen it before so I went to another page and it was gone. Luckily I took screenshots! What is this? Something new you guys are trying out? Then I refreshed and this is what I saw:

Why would someone vote to close?

@AustinHenley Too Localized, probably

:/
@TimYiJiang I don't see it being any more localized than any other bug that has since been fixed.

It wasn't really ever a bug. It was a dev messing around. How is something that was only visible for a few minutes helpful to anyone?

7:01 AM
unfortunately all of our feedback has disagreed with the varied styling and the very limited usefulness of views (you have to admit your example is a very narrow use case) means they won't be making it back in without more justification. The views if shown wouldn't match much at all, since view counts alone don't trigger re-indexing of a post. Also, views are question-specific, so it's even more clutter if not useful on a value list for a specific type. The searches with tags has always been this way, we just showed you the question instead of the answer the match was found in. — Nick Craver 41 mins ago

@animuson Maybe it happens again? Its as helpful as anything else that is no longer relevant (most of the questions on MSO)

MY HATS ARE GONE. WHAT SCOUNDREL HAS ABSCONDED WITH MY HATS?
Were there tears in your eyes when you flipped the off switch, @balpha? WERE THERE?

I didn't flip switches. This is the guy to hate:

Why do none of the rooms other than The Bridge have graphs on chat.stackexchange.com?
Are their activity really so low that one can't be generated?

11:58 AM
Took me a while to answer that -- the room index shows your activity graph when logged in. I didn't even know that, and I'm not sure that's intentional either...

Huh, I don't remember that being the case
But maybe that's my memory failing me

@animuson, @Oded, @kiamlaluno, it is shameful that you would delete a legitimate feature request just because you disagree with it.
The correct response on Meta is to downvote feature requests you disagree with.

6:39 PM
@LanceRoberts: I didn't vote to delete it because I disagreed with it, I voted to delete it because it was a joke question that was never meant to be a real feature request. Just look at some of the silly answers it generated. It adds no value to the site.

6:56 PM
I think Adam was serious with the question, though most of the answers were jokes. Why don't you ask Adam about it?
We're starting to get back to the old problem of posts being deleted that are legitimate posts.
Closed is one thing, but deletion should only be used for specific circumstances, not just because a post is closed.

@LanceRoberts - I agree with animuson. That was my reason for closing - the question was a joke and not serious.

7:25 PM
1. I don't think, the question was a joke, just the answers. 2. MSO is know for having a few humorous posts hanging around, and there is not problem with them doing so. The HUMOR tag is legitimate on MSO.
