@1999 It was probably the blockquote-in-list causing malformed HTML (as it used to in some cases...), and the browser/bs corrected it in a way that added the duplicate link. But I didn't see it pre-edit to check what the served source was (vs. rendered), so I'm not sure.

@hichris123 The duplicate link heuristic was really meant for question spam. The answer spam doesn't follow the pattern of [embedded link] + [bare link at the end]. I suggest restricting this check only to questions.
