@InfiniteRecursion See, that's exactly why they shouldn't put "25% of more" as part of the requirement. Just make "10 or more zero-score accepted answers" already. Votes indicate usefulness of the answer, and by the time you understand how to answer properly, you'd stop getting tumbleweed drafts and get a higher Profit! ratio. I just happened to learn faster, and lost the chance for the badge.
Oh well, at least I'm closer to Steward than I thought.
@Unihedron I am struggling with background threading with it. Basically I have made a GUI and I've created a server socket, I can receive messages but the second thread doesn't seem to work (the one for sending messages). I'm basically searching for a link/tutorial/talk/whatever to debug this further
@Uni Btw, I've had an idea that should hopefully increase the filters' overall accuracy. Currently, we have a white/black list, if a term is found in the whitelist then the post is ignored, if a term is found in the blacklist the post's "score" is increased (to calc the accuracy percentage) then the post is reported. My idea is to have a scoring system for the whitelist too, so, instead of ignoring the post, it'll simply deduct X from it's total score.
And I also plan on adding an analyse command, which will inspect the post for possible terms that could be added to the existing filters, of course the current users with command access will be able to use this when it's implemented.
Read the question carefully. What, specifically, is the question asking for? Make sure your answer provides that – or a viable alternative. The answer can be “don’t do that”, but it should also include “try this instead”. Any answer that gets the asker going in the right direction is helpful, but...
@Unihedron no, closing is enough. They were the old off-topic questions that got missed, and the old cv's are going to expire soon. I voted on them couple of days ago.
I nominated this question to be closed as a dup.
I see that two other people upvoted my comment, so they might have voted to close it as well.
Now, we didn't gather enough votes, and all close votes expired ... and I can't re-vote to close.
What is the motivation behind expiring close votes .....
> If the question has less than 100 views, the votes never expire If the question has more than 100 views, close votes expire at a rate of one every 4 days.
Some of the low view questions aren't bothered with and never get traffic hits, it's enough if you kick it into the queue with one CV and let the reviewers take care of it, but if it's severely off-topic and won't get closed sooner enough (new questions that are attracting spam already), then get it closed like you're doing. :D
@Sam maybe we should add burnination-requests to the tags of SO, since, you know, bad tags are normally accompanied of bad questions ;( (also, we follow Shog guidance about tags)
The tag-wiki for reputation-recalc seems to be obsolete. (For example, it is no longer possible to trigger rep recalc.) However, I do not know enough about this to correct the information given there.
@SilentKiller we did an article that required a publicity shot at some point, and our in-house graphic artist played with the image a bit. I look a little too smug. hah.
This is a trick,
function OpenInNewTab(url) {
var win = window.open(url, '_blank');
win.focus();
}
In most cases, this should happen directly in the onclick handler for the link to prevent pop-up blockers, and the default "new window" behavior. You could do it this way, or by adding an e...
that answer is so sad, it's 100% wrong yet it got 400+ upvotes
I've written an ActiveX control that registers itself to be the player for a particular mime type (pdf) by following instructions on this MSDN page. The player works fine when you browse directly to content that matches the media type, but fails to load the control completely if the URL resides i...
@Braiam, speaking of titles not sure if you saw it but on Drupal recently I noticed the worst however amusing title ever for weight loss spam: "Wanna look like Mr. Bean?"
@SmokeDetector You get coffee if you stop reporting http://academia.stackexchange.com/questions/28631/how-to-deal-with-an-advisor-who-wants-a-friendlier-relationship-with-me-than-i
@InfiniteRecursion Some of them are missed because they are not added to the regex (too many false positives), and others are missed because Smokey doesn't check the body.
@InfiniteRecursion Partially... I just thought "Hmm, I keep leaving these 'pls take a tour' comments, I should clean up some (so you can find the chatty ones easier :) )" and decided to.
When there's an error in a SEDE query, you just get the error message.
Incorrect syntax near '*'.
This can leave me guessing as to which one of the * in my query is causing the error.
SSMS seems to be able to give me a line number, so I guess SQL Server is able to provide this info.

i need help with the following project:
For the second project you are going to make a Light Seeker.
This will work by attaching an LDR to the stepper motor.
The system must be started by the push of a button.
The stepper will then make one full rotation while reading and storing the values from...
Only has one other close vote too, must be a quiet time
Just as background the EE.SE mods do a great job, just they often leave the mostly crap (but not outright offensive stuff) for the community to close which often happens quickly.
