@mmyers - Does the chat system support the rendering of animated gifs via upload, without wanting to devolve interactions into those reminiscent of chan-chats. That would be arse of the lowest order ;)
Apologies to people I've annoyed tonight.
My SO account has been locked after I spent 10 minutes or so vandalizing my questions. I did this because I emailed support asking to have my account deleted. Why does it take so long to delete an account yet it can be sin-binned in 5 minutes?

@shog9 @mmyers - Maybe someone went "We are sorry to inform you, the position has been filled by someone who could answer question #29389 better than you." and he raged lol
When should one use a for loop instead of a while loop. I think the following loops are identical, except for their syntax. If so, then why choose one over the other?
int i;
for (i = 0; i < arr.length; i++) {
// do work
}
int i = 0;
while (i < arr.length) {
// do work
i++;
}
Thanks!
This is (temporarily!) by-design.
We've basically split the data center in two, with Meta serving as our canary for the eventual migration of all remaining sites. Accordingly, alot of the "cross site" features have been turned off (like Inbox) or don't really work (like associations).
> NB: This has been rolled out across all network sites, but right now the privilege pages are only editable wikis on meta.stackoverflow because we’re still nailing down the default content for each privilege, and would like to deploy the privilege wikis globally across the network again over the next week or so.
I thought I missed the last call to edit those
@PopularDemand I don't abuse offensive flags; I do abuse spam flags in that I flag posts like "jaweuifhaiuefnakwjelnfuioaw" as spam, which is apparently not an intended use
I don't know of anyone that's ever gotten in trouble for it, but I make no promises
These posts all have spam flags on SO right now (some more than one):

As much as I may enjoy the fact I can still inline retag posts and access the 10k tools, I must report the rep requirements haven't changed yet from the public beta.
Are we sticking with close at 500, edit at 1000 and tools at 2000 for the foreseeable future or is it simply an overlook from the ...
@LanceRoberts Obviously, the only solution is to use the offensive flag for posts that I don't find offensive, on the assumption that someone, somewhere, will be offended. And refrain from using it on those posts that offend me, because if The Powers That Be Don't Agree, I'll be boxed.
Just spent 15 minutes debugging an incomprehensible issue. Somebody had written a loop which ran x from 0 to 1, with an inner loop running y from 0 to 1.
@Moshe We knew x was reaching numbers greater than 1, and there was only one possible way for it to happen -- which is for that x < l to somehow be true. And the only way it could be true is if the 1 wasn't actually a 1.

@MichaelMrozek Actually, I was wrong. Twenty stars per person per day per room.
Also, for those who still doubt that Wikipedia knows all:
> The actual meaning of the message is convoluted: "PC" is a two-character abbreviation that stands for "paper cassette", the tray that holds blank paper for the printer to use. These two-character codes are a legacy feature carried over from the first LaserJet printers, which could only use a two-character display for all printer status and error messages.
We will now be showing this image
when you don't have any network accounts with 200+ reputation.
Sure beats a 404...
(note, I'm not kidding, this is really what we're going to do.)
Well, I'm out of here. Going on a two-week vacation starting roughly whenever I make it home tonight, so it's time to wrap up some loose ends and head out. See you guys in a couple of weeks.
