yeah but I would assume the advertisers track the effectiveness of their views and are willing to give better rates to sites with higher click-throughs.
what I'm saying is, I'm interested in seeing what kind of stuff gets advertised here because it's most likely relevant to me but I'm not really looking to buy anything at the moment.
so I don't want to start displaying ads that I condition myself to ignore if there's even a tiny net negative to SO; I'll just leave them off for the time being
You honestly think someone who just wants an answer to their question and doesn't care about quality will go "oh yeah, maybe I should read the manual..."? Not a chance.
a tiny snarky negative-feedback comment at the bottom of the answer after you've already provided positive feedback by solving their problem is unlikely to have any impact at all.

@bjb568 there can (and often are) multiple flags per post. And in that timeframe, there were 138K posts created. I'm not sure off-hand which flags that includes, but I'd expect it also includes comment flags - 267K of those in that time period. Big numbers all around...
