not much

There you go.

Eh but then I guess you'd have to keep track of which tags were "language" tags.

@JasonC I know a guy whose arm got pulled into some machinery, and he had the choice to go in with it, or rip free. So he is missing an arm. He was alone, no one found him for half an hour. Apparently he was slowly walking through the factory and mumbling, and was quite in shock.

^ Maybe that's what really happened to him.

nope.
It was a printing company that will remain unnamed.

It's good that he's alive still.

yeah.

Do you remember that story about that dude who lost both his arms in some farm equipment, then ended up getting them reattached?
I just remembered that, from a really long time ago; for some reason it was really heavily covered by the media.

7:40 PM
nope.
I did hear of this mason whose entire face was ripped off, and they were in time to reattach it.

Ah bismarcktribune.com/news/state-and-regional/… that's a "where are they now" kind of article; it was 20 years ago. I remember the news coverage of it pretty vividly.
Aw man, kind of a bummer that he never really ended up doing all that well.

oh wait, it wasn't reattached, he got a transplant.

@Frank I want more pictures of that to post them on /r/WTF for some sweet karma :P

@Woodface indeed. On Saturdays, I usually only work before lunch.

January 15, 1972, Loma, Montana, temperature went from -54F to 49F in one day.

-48C to 10C

user259867
Their meteorologist was drunk, probably.

the largest 2-minute temperature change of 49 °F (27.2 °C) occurred in Spearfish, South Dakota, a rise from −4 to 45 °F (−20.0 to 7.2 °C).

I attribute old weather records to that.

I'm a bit worried: I posted a few questions (closed by now) on workplace.SE that might put off prospective employers. is there a rule against adding additional information to them to clarify that the offputting parts have been worked on?

@NateKerkhofs As long as your edits don't invalidate existing answers or destroy helpful information, you can edit your own posts as you see fit.

9:40 PM
They wouldn't invalidate existing answers or destroy helpful information. the question is workplace.stackexchange.com/questions/35083/…

That's not really a "rule", per se, as much as it is etiquette.
@NateKerkhofs Well then go to town; there's no problem at all with editing your question to add clarification or improve tone or information.

I want to clarify that I've been let go from that particular job, but that i used my 6 weeks notice to work on the issues described in there

So do that.

and that in my debriefing from the company, they said that I'm not the only one to be blamed and that they didn't have the resources to support me. A company with those resources would be a better fit for me

9:44 PM
Great, so go do that.

Haha

@NateKerkhofs If I were in your situation, I would contact SE team (using the contact us) link in site's footer to request the "incriminating" posts to be disassociated from your account, since they may jeopardize your future search.

user259867
(job search, I mean). But even before that -- since the questions are closed, the moderators may be willing to consider deleting some of them. That would be an easier way out, without bothering SE Team. You could raise a custom flag to ask them.

@Woodface Really? If I were a prospective employer, I would read that post as being written by somebody acknowledging their issue and attempting to improve. Looks like a positive to me.

@hichris123 there has to be a pattern these things share that we can filter on. Has to be.

user259867
I was answering in abstract, so possibly my answer does not apply to this situation. I don't look at The Workplace.

Mainly because it seems like I can cross my eyes and fairly accurately distinguish a good question from a poor question.

Yeah...

9:57 PM
@Woodface I only look at workplace when I'm dissatisfied with the horror suggestions on Netflix.

user259867
@Undo At present, the pattern is [pc] tag that hichris is going through.

aha! We just need to blacklist [pc], [windows*], and [xbox*].

That site makes me glad I didn't choose the corporate path. Same with academia.se.

user259867
@JasonC Academia is not that bad, I think. But I may be biased.

user259867
10:03 PM
Because I happen to have taken that path.

Oh I don't think the sites are bad. It's just that every once in a while I see questions on workplaces and academia that make me cringe and think "Wow, there are really people like this?"
Prime example:
24
Q: Advisor walked in while I was complaining about her; How can I minimize the damage to our relationship?

James stanI work in a lab. This evening, thinking that my advisor had already left for the day, I started telling my peers in the lab that she has a bad attitude about a few things, and she was showing off a lot about her work last summer. Out of nowhere, she walked into the lab and was visibly upset, and ...

Not just the question, but the subsequent discussion and the fact that not only was the accepted answer accepted (it was a travesty, and at the time the overall disappointment of everybody involved was very visible), but there are at least two people out there both broken in the same way.
That's why those sites scare me.
See revision 6 academia.stackexchange.com/posts/17175/revisions for full context, which also includes an unsurprising update by the OP. It was recently edited to remove all that.
