I'm somehow surprised that these guys aren't automatically blocked yet.
....even more that they keep trying, they've been here for so long, and none of their spams lasted more than 3 minutes.

user163250
Might just be testing out their spamming tools.

user163250
Using SE as a test target, then move on to sites with weaker spam protection.

I see a new extension to SE, after SE Documentation and SE Teams.... SE Spam Fighting.

Well, that's basically us in this room.

Brigadier-General Smokey! Reporting for duty! :-D
But seriously, I think Smokey could be used in a wider context than SE.

user163250
@S.L.Barth what do you mean?

I think Smoke Detector could, with some adaptations, also be used to detect spam on non-SE sites.

user202362
Is there any stats on how accurate our little smokedetector is?

I think there's data about Smokey's efficiency in Metasmoke.

@S.L.Barth so you're basically suggesting setting up another chat room for SD to detect spam on other people's blogs and forums?

I could picture someone modifying SD to work with their own chat system, sure.

user163250

Real-time spam detection.

user163250
I can't really see it being worth it for sites with low traffic though.

Basically people using modified Smokeys on people's own chat systems, yes.

user163250
I mean, in those cases, the volume of spam is so low, you might as well just handle it from email like usual.

I don't think one should use an SE chatroom for the spam on other sites.

user163250
@S.L.Barth that's not what I was suggesting.

user163250

@MiceElf That came to my mind too a few days ago, but I rejected that idea myself because I remember a case where an NSFW image came up in a question containing "porn", and such images are disallowed by the ToS IIRC, so I'm not sure we have to drop the keyword.

@MiceElf True... perhaps a rep limit, like there is for "shit"? Below 50 rep, is a report.

user259867
That would help. And maybe exclude Movies site? It's totally on topic there.

@MiceElf Hmm... but that site is where that NSFW case was on.
