In Angry Birds Rio, I can't seem to find the fifteenth watermelon, where is it hiding?
I'm on my iPhone if that helps. I've found the ones on the following levels:
5-5, 5-11, 5-13, 5-14, 5-15, 6-2, 6-3, 6-4, 6-5, 6-6, 6-7, 6-9, 6-12, 6-14
Structure and Interpretation of Computer Programs (SICP) is a textbook published in 1984 about general computer programming concepts from MIT Press written by Massachusetts Institute of Technology professors Harold Abelson and Gerald Jay Sussman, with Julie Sussman. It was used as the textbook of MIT's old introductory programming class [http://ocw.mit.edu/OcwWeb/Electrical-Engineering-and-Computer-Science/6-001Spring-2005/CourseHome/index.htm 6.001] (this class has been replaced by [http://course.mit.edu/6.01 6.01], which uses Python), and at other schools. The second edition (ISBN 0-262...
So it has two advantages: teaches functional programming (a must in the future of programming) and helps with math later
So, my 12 year old son is interested in programming for Android. He's never done a real program before, but he did play briefly with Alice. I'm trying to figure out what the best way to introduce him to programming would be, and more specifically, if it would be better for him to just jump into A...
I've never really delved deeply into any programming language. I really should one of these days...
I know Java, C, C++, Python all fairly well. Matlab is my best language, if one can call it a language, but I really need to learn how to write GUIs for it...
I also know a bit of perl and javascript.
The problem is, he's interested in Android for the wrong reasons, namely to try and make money from it.
Still, I'm just desperate enough to get him thinking technical careers that I'll do just about anything, if he has a seed, I'll nurture it, even if it ends up being a drain on me...
well, it'll teach him scale, and how big the world is, yet how small it is and how we're all connected, if he can write one that gets more than a couple hundred users

In software engineering, double dispatch is a special form of multiple dispatch, and a mechanism that dispatches a function call to different concrete functions depending on the runtime types of two objects involved in the call. In most object-oriented systems, the concrete function that is called from a function call in the code depends on the dynamic type of a single object and therefore they are known as single dispatch calls, or simply virtual function calls.
Examples
Double dispatch is useful in situations where the choice of computation depends on the runtime types of its arguments....

In object-oriented programming and software engineering, the visitor design pattern is a way of separating an algorithm from an object structure it operates on. A practical result of this separation is the ability to add new operations to existing object structures without modifying those structures. It is one way to easily follow the open/closed principle.
In essence, the visitor allows one to add new virtual functions to a family of classes without modifying the classes themselves; instead, one creates a visitor class th...
I'm not sure I'd ever enjoy writing code in a language with sigils.
if you need a $ (or an @ or whatever) in front of variables, doesn't that mean most of what you write isn't one? It makes perhaps a bit of sense in PHP (ew), but...
@badpssockpuppet Oh, right - I'd forgotten that it wasn't originally a general-purpose language. So it does make sense. It just doesn't make sense that people use it for other things.
(e.g. Python 3 is much less nimble; IIRC the new way is "User {0} has last logged in on {1}".format([user, last_login_date]) (I'm an aficionado of the % syntax as you might've guessed.)
@Shog9 Yeah, apparently there's such a thing as GTK bindings for PHP.
@GeorgeMarian The idea is neat, perhaps, and perhaps not very far from C in a way, but madness lurks as soon as you start mixing and matching them. I saw a few posts on SO once attempting to explain the system, and I couldn't make heads or tails of it.
@badpssockpuppet Well, Perl certainly takes some acclimation. The comparison to C is right on. Both have many symbols, which can mean many things depending on context.
can anyone help me why i got suspended on meta SO even though i constructively asking questions."Sorry, we are no longer accepting questions from this account. See goo.gl/C1Kwu to learn more."
You can do some interesting things with Perl, but I don't really know it well enough. Some call it a write only language, since it can be hard to figure just what is going on. There are many ways to do the same thing in Perl.
I'm seeing 13 out of 36. Which is rather a lot. Beyond that, a bit more than half of your questions scored <= 0. Which is also bad.
@Damodar Best I can suggest is that you spend some time making either constructive edits (for clarity, grammar, etc) to your existing questions, or trying to help others by posting answers in topics of which you have knowledge.
@Damodar I'm not gonna discuss the suspension here, since that's something the moderators should have contacted you about privately back when it happened. But regarding the current asking restrictions, you really do have 36 questions visible on SO, of which 13 are closed
Of the ones that are still open, you could probably get a lot of mileage from simply taking the time to fix errors in spelling and grammar.
oh wow I just realized how awesome the SO search really is, I've never paid attention to the See our search tips link, finding information and duplicates just got so much easier :D
that should be interesting... I know nothing of how translation software is constructed, but going between languages with different rules for grammar must be challenging.
@ÓlafurWaage Yeah, I'm... Still not entirely sure how the new one is supposed to be used. I guess it is probably more useful if you're a long-time user trying to monitor your rep changes in the short-term though.
Yea currently we're building on top of a translation stack while including the software built by the professor in charge. He's done most of the grammar work already, the work now is to improve the translation.
I liked how the old graph showed your rep growth since you started.
A lot of the change was inevitable; as sites grow, they lose the sense of community that binds them in the early days. Other communities form within them, but it's much harder to manage the site as a cohesive whole.
Currently I only have C++ as a fav tag, since I need to keep those skills sharp. I've gotten tired of answering PHP/Web dev questions.
I'm also seeing a behavior change in how I answer. Back in the day I would watch my answers for comments and monitor other answers in the same question. Now it's more fire and forget.

Bah, still waiting for one last grade (I know I passed but still need the final grade). The teacher still needs to hand in the results of 7 assignments.
Hi guys,
I have been suspended for 14 days. I wrote a rude comment I admit (But I was provocated).
Do I have any way to try to get a lower supension? With this supension I will not be able to assign a bounty I opened some days ago in a my question.
Please note I didn't recive any warning. I ju...

So SO's recent super secret method for preventing problem askers from asking more questions has been getting some recent attention. As I understand it, they can use the site in all ways they otherwise would with the exception of asking questions. A distinct and older action for problem users is...
