@Feeds big fail at oneboxing
@SonictheAnonymousHedgehog not so sure, she appears to be actual researcher: repositorio.uem.br:8080/jspui/bitstream/1/5732/1/…
So maybe was just asking innocent question about pills, just in a totally wrong place.

@ShadowWizardIsVaccinatedV3 Or her name's on a list...

7:20 AM
@JourneymanGeek hmm.... still, no link, translation was weird but didn't look like ad.

o0
I see 2 snows

different links, one snow dosen't exist?

@Snow has two different accounts with same name and avatar.
@Snow can you please change name/avatar of one of them? Way too confusing..

One of which dosen't have a parent account

7:22 AM
ohh
pointing at Nuke button
@Journeyman can't you force chat profile sync? Doing it on the one without parent should nuke it. I think.

user960635
7:35 AM
@ShadowWizardIsVaccinatedV3 I only see the one avatar in the chat. Not sure what's going on. Can you provide links to both?

@Snow huh, maybe one is nuked as suggested above, I'll dig in browser history

I did nothing

That's what I saw too

@Snow it's a known bug with zombie chat profiles, @SPArcheon knows it very well, looks like you just log in with one of them randomly.

user960635
7:46 AM
Oh.Yeah I see one of them doesn't have a parent profile. Never seen that before.

It's always result of merge, which never works well with chat.
So the account that was merged into other account is deleted on actual site, but the associated chat profile isn't deleted.

user960635
Ok. So since they're chat profiles, no real problem.

@ShadowWizardIsVaccinatedV3 We have such a thing, but not for car horns:
A gunfire locator or gunshot detection system is a system that detects and conveys the location of gunfire or other weapon fire using acoustic, vibration, optical, or potentially other types of sensors, as well as a combination of such sensors. These systems are used by law enforcement, security, military, government offices, schools and businesses to identify the source and, in some cases, the direction of gunfire and/or the type of weapon fired. Most systems possess three main components: An array of microphones or sensors (accelerometers, infrared detectors, etc) either co-located or ge...

9:52 AM
@Rob I think some cities here use this to detect people lighting off fireworks

@Rob you win, that's way cooler than what we have. ;)

Rob
10:23 AM
@ShadowWizardIsVaccinatedV3 Where there's a similarity is our Photo Radar (speeding / red light enforcement), a cash cow for the city: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Traffic_enforcement_camera but there's an Israeli App for that: waze.com/live-map/…
No audio, just still photos. The photos are collected and mailed along with a ticket to the address of the license plate.
Google Maps lists these locations, and there's many "GPS Apps" that warn you as you approach the camera.
@Luuklag It seems expensive to use it for that purpose; unless people light off fireworks year round, and there are a lot of injuries.

@Rob Over here they came up with stuff that's even sneakier: "Trajectcontrole". Basically, camera's at the start and end of a piece of highway, which are used to calculate your average speeds on that part of the highway. So, no dodging the camera and then speeding on XD

10:39 AM
....
Ever google up a clever story, and find something even more AMAZING ?

> I've been tracking a tear on the texture of space-time which combined with airborne pieces of metal at Builders' Barn to create a miniature black hole. this abnormal lead interposed itself between Homer and Bart causing a gravitational lens which absorbed the light reflected from Ray the roofer.

10:55 AM
@Rob yeah, those I know well. And don't trust Waze even a bit, it's good for navigating (was, it's broken these days) but there it ends. Can't trust it for camera, as police can easily put them in hidden places, or plant fake cameras all around.
@JourneymanGeek meh, police just didn't have time to read so they gave up.

It worked right? :D

FINALLY!
A valid reason to shut down Meta once and for all!

the other Meta.
@JNat so... what's your counter now? Shall we change our name to StackBook?

11:11 AM
And what should we do with the name of this room ;)

Tavern on the Stackbook...

@SPArcheon I thought this was another questionable crowd funding pitching until I realized who is in the picture...

@MetaAndrewT. And it is such a missed opportunity too. Just picture the fun if they changed Twitter name to "Meta" instead.

@SPArcheon hehe, this will give insane boost to MSE anon visitors, and 1000% increase in off topic questions.

> "So, based on the latest requests on Meta we announce we will change how this feature works....."

11:17 AM
What does 'meta' mean? >_<

But.... do note Facebook plagiarized the idea from a book.

@ShadowWizardIsVaccinatedV3 It all part of the plan, my good Wizzard. Now, if they implement a request that came from Facebook, they can just say it came from "Meta" too....

@ShadowWizardIsVaccinatedV3 ah, right, when we were in a partnership with Facebook Meta :p

@MetaAndrewT. this is essentially what collectives is today...

@MetaAndrewT. LOL ;)
@Wolgwang plainly speaking, it means "something beyond". (didn't check dictionary)

11:23 AM
soon......

Anyway, in Hyperion, there is a meta world as well, which exists in parallel to our world. Some terms appear to be taken from the book, by dear Facebook.
Hopefully for humanity, Facebook's Meta world won't have the beasts/entities the book foresee in the meta world....

@SPArcheon Thanks. I hate it.
@SPArcheon Thanks. I hate this even more

I can't find any post on this issue, and I'm wondering if it's been discussed before and simply I can't find it: you know how comment notifications on the same post are grouped? which makes perfect sense, but why are the answer notifications on the same question also grouped? I just noticed it when I got two answers on one question
if it hasn't been discussed before: does it make sense to FR ungrouping answer notifications?

12:32 PM
@ymb1 what would be the benefit of that?

multiple answers to say an old question can be missed amidst the scrolling and vote sorting

I'd guess though, if it mattered, you'd go back to the question and sort by active?

different topic I'm trying to find the answer for: from the FAQ for the illuminator badge: Edit 500 questions each within 12 hours of answering it (score>0). do edits must succeed the answering? I'm having a badge counter issue (only badge remaining so I've noticed this), and it was brought up before but no answer
@JourneymanGeek that works if one is aware there is more than 1 new one, right?

and cause I can't seem to find a recent case where I've got this... mind sharing a screenshot?
(admittedly I follow nearly every 'official' post, so my inbox is noisy )

@ymb1 If you think the claim in the question is correct, you can answer stating your observation

12:39 PM
@Luuklag issue is if indeed edits must follow, then there's no counter issue, and also I should have gotten that badge long ago :D
@JourneymanGeek for clarification: I mean OP notifications, not follow-post notifications
the latter ones aren't grouped, and I wish they were for tidiness
if it's unknown whether edits can precede the answer within 12 hours, I can ask a new question: but first, to avoid caching issues I'll use SEDE, its data dump is every Monday 0000z right?

@ymb1 It starts at a set time, it depends a bit on when the job finishes

@Luuklag: I checked older dates to be safe, there is a discrepancy, I'm writing a post now

@Glorfindel would a mod be able to remove the post notices that are appearing twice?

@Luuklag I guess so. The bug seems to be limited to Software Engineering, so I can't check ...
wait, a few more sites have it too
I updated my answer

How do y'all make those images smaller? Do you just re-take the screenshot or is there something fancier you do?

@Spevacus which images?

@Luuklag The image on the question you both just answered. What Glorfindel does in this revision. I've seen others make such screenshots smaller before (the default mobile screenshot typically comes out pretty big when posted on SE) and I just wanted to know if you guys had an easier way to resize them to be smaller than just taking a new screenshot of a smaller version of it and updating the image URL.

@Spevacus Just add a M to the end of the filename ?

1:55 PM
... Oh.
Interesting. I didn't know that would work like that.

@JourneymanGeek or L

Fancy.

well small m or small l

Q: Let's update our blatantly off-topic close reason to use the 5 available close fields!

SpevacusIn case you're unfamiliar, I asked the question that lead to us updating our site-specific close reason to use the modernized close fields. The benefit of doing this is that the right information is relayed to the right people in the post notice, and close-voters/flaggers will see more detailed u...

Hey there can anyone tell how much rep one requires for voting in election that is to give a vote to one citizen (hope you are getting what I mean by citizen)

150 IIRC

It’s 150. There should be a meta post about it somewhere, I’ll try to find it.

@Mithical Including association bonus?

yes

Okay thanks @Mithical @EkadhSingh-ReinstateMonica

@Spevacus The problem starts (maybe well before then) with disregarding this notice, perhaps they should also be referred back to it (their dismissal of the help should be unticked, and it should reappear) until they post an upvoted post; but that's more (work) than just changing the message, much as most problems aren't solved with a single solution:

@Rob While I recognize that the lost soul problem is a sizable one, I'm not trying to fix it with that post, I'm just trying to update that close reason to use the modernized close reason technology. I'm trying (slowly) to do that for all of our custom close reasons. That said, I wouldn't mind the changes you suggest, but I wonder if there could be other changes we could make.
I'll admit I haven't given potential solutions to the lost soul problem much thought, as all of the ones I could think of would be potentially very development-intensive. Something targeted, effective, and that requires little development time would be great; I just can't think of any.

@Rob It's called warning fatigue.
Is not that users disregard that notice, is that they disregard every notice that can be easily dismissable.

Rob
@Spevacus It's not so much a "lost soul problem" as "having all the information available" and yet still lacking the ability to make a correct decision. By hitting them with a giant S (plural tellingS) the day may come when they both are told and understand what is being said. --- A Nirvana Nexus.

Hahaha. Maybe.

Rob
I understand that goes beyond simply updating the message that is referred to in your post.
Simply unticking their dismissal of that notice and re-presenting is fairly trivial.

@Sonic made an adjustment to the brief description per your comment. Thanks for pointing that out.

@Spevacus 5 available?, SO has seven:
So, no need to stuff everything into one slot; when there's a few available, if we need finer graduation / degrees of wrong.
Such as: "Off-topic everywhere, and unsalvagable", "Off-topic here, but could be retagged to site rec", "It's a Meta-SO, not MSE", etc.
and the famous: "That problem is on your end, not here".

6:20 PM
@Rob Blatantly off topic doesn't appear to close voters. Spevacus is speaking about community defined close reasons, those last two aren't.

@Rob I'm talking about the five close fields that moderators/community managers punch in when making a new/editing an existing close reason. Here's how that looks: i.stack.imgur.com/pgd5s.png

Rob
Yes, but there can be more than 5 slots.

No, it's hard capped to 5 and soft capped to 3.

Rob
7:06 PM
I've conflated the number of reasons with the number of fields per reason, and made it unclear that we can split a reason; so that each field doesn't need to be overpopulated, or unnecessarily complex, thus the wording for each reason can be more concise and thus each field need not explore edge cases so thoroughly.

Ah, now I getcha.

I got suspended on freelancing.se for solicting votes in order to save the site from certain deletion (because no one else has wanted to self-nominate for elections for the past year). SE didn't really want to show any flexibility.

9:07 PM
That... Really sucks. I can try and garner some rep to nominate so the site doesn't close, but I'm not confident in my ability to do so before the nomination period ends.
I really don't want to see you go again though, Snow.

@DeletedProfile bit of an unpopular opinion here but that's very much a problem we should leave to SE and that community to fix, and with 3-4 people here trying to step up without the rep ... It would be a pity to have you go again over that.
