Just took a stats test. I heard that you guys missed the pictures of math that I posted, so here's my formula sheet.

user315433
For comparison with aforementioned SO Q/A trend, I grabbed the same data for Math. Also appears to be past its peak in Q/A activity, but not as sharply as SO. A lot of questions by 1-reps arrived in Fall 2015 and were not exactly showered with answers...

user315433
@bjb568 Looks neat, on par with local 2nd semester of "real" (though non-calculus-based) statistics. (Real = not "for liberal arts"). The plural of "matrix" is "matrices", btw.

I a'int no inglés major.

@404 When was the Google Panda update?

user315433
12:12 AM

So about the time in question for SO.
But claimed to have no impact... hmm.

user202362
12:41 AM
A lot of statisics calculations are not calculus based, in fact, statisics is sometimes considered 'discrete maths'

12:54 AM
@Telkitty Bah, if you want to talk about random variables, not only do you need calculus, you need distributions, hyperreals, and non-standard analysis.

@bjb568 You write very nicely for a kittycat

:3

@hichris123 Yeah, I noticed that the other day, too, only to look up the bug report and remember I reported it. Oops.

So for April Fools Day, I've made my senior developer a lovely beverage of hot milk and artificial sweetener, and I've raised a pull request into the ma5ter branch that deletes the entire codebase. Today will be a good day.

I'd drink hot milk with artificial sweetener…

1:00 AM
hot milk is already sweet... I assume the goal here is, uh, intestinal distress?

eh, you're old
There's nothing too sweet for bjb.

this is true, but at least I have tastebuds

me too same

ever give a cat as much milk as it wants, btw? Make sure it's not in the house for long afterwards.

@AlexisKing I started typing up a bug report when I saw it on the "these questions might have your answer" list...

1:02 AM
@hichris123 I remember reading “If You Give a Mouse a Cookie” but I never knew there were more! :O

me can haz @cupcake?

What happened to Cupcake? :(

Ohhh, I remember reading If You Give a Pig a Pancake, too, actually!
Those books were adorable.
@hichris123 Yeah, I noticed that the other day. :<

1:05 AM
I think cupcake is deleted and was user456814.

@Shog9 He hates sweet things, and will be expecting a morning pick-me-up coffee

ah

eww
coffee << hot chocolate

Why are you trying to bitshift hot chocolate

:p

1:08 AM
So to recap... If you give a cupcake a cat, he'll delete his account and disappear?
4

Yes, but the cupcake will disappear. The cat on the other hand...

user315433
However, the chat messages are not linked to it, they are "user163250" in chat.

user315433
I still don't understand what chat accounts get deleted with main site account, and when they do not.

1:13 AM
they mostly never do unless someone remembers to ask
That may be changing in the very near future

user315433
For example: Hobo Sapiens has fully functional chat account, while the main one is gone.

That reminds me, what happened to user259867? I was going through some old Tavern logs and saw the user had been deleted. For some reason I thought @404 was that user but I guess I was wrong...?

user315433
Hm, I don't remember asking for chat account to be deleted, but whatever.

user315433
@AlexisKing You were right.

1:16 AM
Hah. My gut was right. Why’d you delete your account?
...if you are willing to share, that is.

I'm addicted to quitting.

Yesterday's catalog of retired downvoters didn't include LittleBobbyTables: quit in August 2015.

user315433
> I've burned out on the site, outlived my usefulness, gotten sick of all the serial downvotes that don't go unreversed, given up on the clueless reviewers, and been fed up with seeing so many valid flags (from myself and others) rejected with "declined - a moderator reviewed your flag, but found no evidence to support it." Enjoy the mess you've made.

user315433
The first graph here shows how the number of review tasks completed surpassed the number of questions answered. And thus Stack Overflow became more of a Q&R site.

> Sadly, I’ve become soured by the SE network. It started great, but went downhill. Some mods are too aggressive/bias, policies are arbitrarily/capriciously/selectively applied, and some users treat the sites as MMOGs, “rep-whoring”, copying others’ work, and posting random guesses to game the system by abusing and exploiting auto-bounty assignment.

I care(d) about the integrity of the site, so I feel anywhere that allows such disreputable behavior isn’t somewhere worth staying. My OCD not withstanding, I won’t be contributing much here anymore and will find somewhere else to help people.

user315433
But did not care enough to downvote more than 25 posts?

2:32 AM
Is it perhaps worth admitting that our opinions about how the site “should work” are ultimately almost irrelevant on SO given the sheer volume of content that pours through the pipeline every single day?
Jeez. This question is two years old. It feels like it couldn’t have possibly happened much more than a year ago.

Time flies...

Q: Unikong game play

TelkittyThere are a few things that I do not understand about unikong. 1) Why is the Unicorn throwing fire at Jon Skeet? I assume the guy is Jon Skeet (because the cover for the game said so), and my understanding is that coins are like reps and unicorns symbolize mods. So why is a mod trying to get ...

snailboatYou can ride the unicorn, if you believe hard enough!

I have the perfect solution for LifeHacks! On reddit there's LifeProTips, but they also have DeathProTips. We need those too! @moose

user315433
@AlexisKing Not necessarily. There's always the option of retreating to a low-traffic tag and have real impact there, with less stress.

@404 I’ve done that, but it’s hard to moderate effectively when the questions actually don’t get enough eyeballs to even get closed consistently.

user315433

True, so my impact will be downvotes and answers (and upvotes)

Yeah. I like to think the tag is a little bit better off from my contributions, but I can’t shake the feeling that (aside from my answers) it is mostly irrelevant.

DaImToNow that we have reached the point where we have the answers to every question that could ever be asked, I was thinking it was probably time we set SO to read only. Since there will never been any new content it will be much easer for us to support it this way.

in this answer by Olivier Dulac: stackoverflow.com/a/16989110/592540

And if Nicael already hasn't reported it.

8:30 AM
on second line it says: (and do NOT use : $@, or "$", or $)
where it should say "[...] NOT use $@, or "$*" or $*) " (note the missing asterisks)
when editing it, in the preview they appear correctly

That's not a bug.
Wait
That's a bug

:D
so, it does count as reported now, or should I open a new question on MSE or ... ?
also, do I edit the answer to add backslashes so it appears correctly? or leave it as is and once the bug's solved it will be handled then?

anyone already asked if the unikong code will be made available outside today?
