How does the timeout work? If there's no activity on a question for five minutes, scrape the question?

Sam
Nope, timeout as in the actual http request timeout.

With no packets coming in?
Are you exceeding your (pathetic) bandwidth?

Sam
I haven't checked, all I know is the client keeps timeing-out.
@JanDvorak Yes and no.

Does staring at a wireshark window give you a hint?

Sam
I've gone over my monthly allowance, so their just "slowing me down".
Again, I haven't checked. But trying to view the page in my browser takes ages too.

6:14 PM
you need to migrate Pham

Sam
I know :/
The API is the only thing left.

that'll take ages, too

Sam
39 secs ago, by Sam
I know :/
Without it I can't migrate pham anywhere else (besides to another PC with .Net 4.5).

What's the migration plan? Should I offer a machine? I have Windows

Sam
The original plan was to finish off the non-windows branch, and then deploy Pham to Andy's server (with Zephyr).
But that branch is still in early-alpha.
Hmm, what specs does your PC have?

6:19 PM
Quite slow and 2GB RAM

Sam
Ram's not a prob (Pham uses ~200 MB), what CPU?

or rather, 2GB RAM, 4x1.6GHz atom CPU, Win7

Sam
lol that's better than mine (processor wise).

The uptime might be weak, though
I can run it overnight no problem, but I like to take my laptop wherever I go

Sam
Well, it's better than nothing. :)

6:21 PM
Can your bot deal with disconnects?

Sam
Hmm, I'll have to check.

Sam
The only thing I can think of that might be a problem is chat interaction.

say I run the bot for a while, then hibernate my computer, unhibernate somewhere without a wifi, hibernate again and unhibernate at home?
I can promise you few to no disconnects without a hibernation

Sam
Hmm, well, the only thing you'd need to do is refresh the chat windows.
(Once you unhibernate)
There's one other thing. How are we going to use Pham's account?

6:26 PM
If the chat javascript runs, you should get a reload originating from javascript when it reconnects
Also, filter synchronisation might be an issue if the bot is to relocate frequently

Sam
I'm using .Net's embedded IE control (hence the need for a manual refresh. Simply right click, and click "Refresh").

does IE not allow javascript to reload the page?

Sam
I don't know. But I'm using IE 9, so...

I can test
I have IE11 or so

Sam
Syncing shouldn't be too much of a problem.
Even if JS could reload the page, I'm not sure how reliable it would be.

6:32 PM
The chat reloads itself quite successfully

Sam
I'll add you to the owners list...
In IE 11 or 9?

In Chrome :-/
Should I test?

Sam
It's probably not worth it ;)
If the the bot does need to be refreshed, just right click the window and click "Refresh". Simple as that.
Done.

As for the pham account, if you don't want to hardcode the credentials, maybe I should raise a sock?

Sam
The auth is manual :/
(you actually have to login, just like in a browser)

6:37 PM
how often?

Sam
Only once,
unless you clear cookies.
When you do run pham, you need to make sure the chat windows have loaded fully before clicking the "start monitoring" button.
Otherwise, Pham won't be able to listen to chat commands.

does it come with a preflight checklist? :-)

Sam
lol :)
Not yet.
Brb, gotta have dinner.

bon appetit

Sam
7:17 PM
Back. Thx
So, do you have a compiler?

Not that I know of

Sam
Right, I'll have to upload Pham's exe then...

Is there any free compiler for C#?

Sam
Yeah, but it's not worth the hassle.

Sam
7:20 PM
(downloading and installing and setting up a compiler, just to build Pham is ott) ;)

I'd probably like to have a compiler anyways
and preferably an IDE

Sam
I'd always go VS (as I've had it for the past ~3 years), but that's not free.
You could go with sharpdevelop.
It's kinda like the free alternative to VS.

thanks, will check

Sam
np

any other option?

Sam
7:24 PM
From what I know, there isn't anything else that's "decent".

Beta, or stable?

Sam
I believe it's stable.
(I can vouch for that too, as I've used it before)

I mean, there's a version 5 beta

Sam
Oh, erm, I'll check...

or a 4.4 stable

Sam
7:29 PM
I'd go with 4.4.

huh.. neither version seems available
err_connection_reset

Sam
Hmm, same here. Hold on, I'll find a somewhere else...

Sam
Same for me, too.
Have you tried softpedia?

Sam
Oh, there's one other important thing I forgot to mention
Have you cloned the repo?

not yet

Sam
8:08 PM
Right, well, you'll need to in order to run Pham. Or, give me a day or so, and I'll be able to make possible to run him without cloning.

I will clone it

Sam
Ok, well in the dir where all the source files are, you'll need to create two subdirs and then place Pham's exe in the final dir, so it'll look like this: main source dir/sub1/sub2/pham.exe
E.g., for me it's: C:\Users\Samuel\Documents\GitHub\Phamhilator\Phamhilator\bin\Debug\Phamhilator.‌exe. (The second Phamhilator dir is the main source dir.)
Since it's still in beta, this sort of stuff has to be done manually for now ;)

I have an idea.

@Sam I'm all ears.

Sam
I'll include Pham's .exe in the repo.
Then alter where he looks for the term lib.
That way, you won't have to compile the whole project just to run him, and it's a bit easier to setup.

I'll still have to compile the whole project if I want to contribute code

Sam
True, but I thought you didn't know C#.

Shouldn't be too hard to learn

Sam
8:47 PM
I guess so. :)

I'll still use some code review, but as far as functionality goes, compilation should prove me correct

Sam
I'll still rearrange the file structure though.
Kk.

Now, I just need to commit/push. (Now you just need to make sure the Answer and Question dirs are in the same dir as the exe instead.)
