Well, I stopped looking when it turned out that user is only interested in an outcome that only benefits the OP.

@rene Cleaned up.

@hichris123 Oh, OK

5:13 PM
Yeah, I got 5K rep on MSE! Now I can.... approve tag wiki edits ... swell...

... I don't have 5k anywhere. :(

you spend to much time moderating...

you don't spend too much time rep-whoring :(

facepalm So I have been searching a long time to get a byte array from an IntPtr without I know the length, and now I found out that I do have the length, but stored in another variable...

5:29 PM
facepalm

facepalm Windows has just decided to copy the entirety of my larger partition to my smaller partition. Because, you know, what if only a half of my hard drive breaks down entirely?

@JanDvorak yes, please

@rene those that I've had, you mean?

5:38 PM
I rather join in the next round

I don't have a schedule

@rene Isn't that a good thing? maybe? I dunno.
@Braiam hah

anyways, *grammar nazi mode activated*

@hichris123 That is a good thing but you can't have both...obviously...

@JanDvorak Can me has teh bettar grammerz?

@hichris123 practice...

@ProgramFOX Not yet. I was sleeping. I manually "verified" all the emails, (i.e. telling mongodb to trust you).
@rene But I dooooo. I dunno what that command did, but it didn't print anything.

@bjb568 Okay, thanks! Still cannot log in though, while I'm sure I entered the right password. Could you please add a password recovery feature?

But cat /etc/mail/Makefile prints out some stuff.
@ProgramFOX I'll get around to that, but first some sniffing.

@bjb568 Ok, thanks!

@SmokeDetector We nuked that in 1 minute.

@rene ? What's wrong with it?

@ProgramFOX Isn't that what SecureString does as well?

5:50 PM
@ProgramFOX Found problem. Your email is @hotmail. hotmail.

@bjb568 ... why is that a problem?

What are you doing with your life?!
@hichris123 Who uses hotmail?

@bjb568 me. And millions of other people.

Anyone still on MySpace?

:O

5:51 PM
@rene I have to store something in a file, so...

I've had my hotmail account for around 10 years now... too much effort to switch.

@hichris123 It's like 5 clicks.

@bjb568 That's just a secondary email, my primary one is GMail.

@ProgramFOX you stream stuff?

@bjb568 Not really...

@ProgramFOX doesn't like gmail either :P

@bjb568 ... what do you like then?

@rene I have to store OAuth Client ID and Client Secret in a file, and CryptProtectData is a good way to encrypt it, so I used that. (if that's what you mean)

@ProgramFOX The usecase is rather limited, I would personally choose one of the managed CryptoProviders but if it works ... :)

srsly?

5:56 PM
@bjb568 what is that?

@ProgramFOX Don't move that file to a different box because that will not work i believe

5:58 PM
@rene If I would use a managed CryptoProvider, people could decompile my application to see how I use it. Then I would have to use passwords before someone can access the key, and as the application would automatically start up on logon, that would give bad UX.

@Sam how much cost that?

Sam
@Braiam A mere 20 Kb/s at peak.

@Sam I'm not a C# dev, but some of that code seems a bit... complex.

I meant CPU/mem

Sam
@hichris123 Well, it has an ML system to look after the search terms, so...
@Braiam I'll check...

7:24 PM
@Sam What ML system?

@hichris123 machine learning

@Braiam Yeah, I know, but what library?

Sam
@hichris123 All homemade.

I like homemade.

@Sam Mmm... so how's it work?

Sam
7:26 PM
@hichris123 (simple explanation) Each "term" (regex) has a score, if someone reports a post as a tp, the score is incremented, or, if someone reports an fp the score is decremented. And then...

@Sam Ah, so it's not really ML, just more of a "quality score" thingy.

@hichris123 He said "And then..." so I'm thinking he hasn't gotten to the cool part yet. Or not.
@Sam I love all your .txt files for configuration n' stuff

@Sam Toilet paper? Facepalm?

@bjb568 True positive/false positive

Ah.

Sam
7:31 PM
var score = 0;
var termsUsed;

foreach (var term in whitelist)
{
    if (term.IsMatch(post.Title))
    {
       score -= whiteTerm.Value; // Term's score
       termsUsed++;
    }
}

foreach (var term in blacklist)
{
    if (term.IsMatch(post.Title))
    {
        score += term.Value; //
        termsUsed++;
    }
}

if (filtersUsed != 0)
{
    score /= termsUsed;
    score /= blacklist.HighestScoringTerm;
    score *= 100;
}
The score is then calc ^ and then if the score is > X the post is posted.
Also, if someone reports an fp, the bot will add the terms found in the post to a site specific whitelist (again, each with their own scores).

@bjb568 A typical closeflag for homework dumps on Math.SE is off-topic->missing context. But there should not be a need for Tavern regulars to flag those: LQ questions on Math arrive by a truckload daily, and regulars are pretty good at identifying/handling them. Spammy/offensive things, sure.

They probably aren't going to shut us down just yet (c.f. Beer.SE, now at 8 months in beta and rather quiet),...
