@JanDvorak Lol, 12 year olds, PG?
You mean R, right?

@SantaClaus For locating all the nice boys and girls on SE that deserve presents rep?

@Jamal No cookies == No presents

@SantaClaus Heeeeeey…
It's probably rubbing off of you and doorknob.

@SantaClaus What about browser cookies?

Wait… there's a k in doorknob? doork-nob?

8:04 PM
@Jamal Browser cookies are always too stale. Those browsers never seem to know when to throw them out.

Uh… Is @SantaClaus the new star-spammer?

@bjb568 ?

@SantaClaus We know you are.

8:06 PM

Q: What is story behind the edX stackexchanges?

Lego StormtrooprSpecifically http://edx-cs169-1x.stackexchange.com/ and http://cs50.stackexchange.com/ I just saw these in the top menu bar, and I'm confused about how these were able to get into public beta on the StackExchange network. Historically, the SE network was focused on being a Q&A board with defin...

@JasonC good job

8:10 PM
@iStimple high five

@JanDvorak Y NO SPAM FLAG FOR SITEZ

@JasonC someone was definitely trying to get an excavator badge

@bjb568 It's not spam.

@hichris123 The site.

@hichris123 it promotes education, that's spam

8:13 PM
Ah, that's better.

@iStimple Oh man; meta.stackexchange.com/review/suggested-edits/stats you're hot on my trail to taking today's #1 edit review spot.

@JasonC just don't fall asleep

*falls*
*asleep*

@JanDvorak But... but... but... who's going to post the spam???
4

@hichris123 I'll do it for the team.

8:26 PM
Now I only need to answer four more feature requests for the gold tag badge.

@bjb568 why him?

@JanDvorak Mod.

@bjb568 also, why delete it?

@animuson just don't abuse the dup hammer

8:28 PM
@JanDvorak It's offensive?

There could be a new family of funny jokes
@bjb568 it's not

@JanDvorak No. There can't.
@JanDvorak Meh, broken window effect and you're one of them.

BJB's skull is so thick it cracks a Nokia

one of them

@iStimple I still have 51 bugs to respond to before I get that tag badge. But imagine, having the power to insta-dupe-close all questions on Meta SE... AGAIN!

8:29 PM
@JanDvorak Not offensive since I know that you're not trying to be offensive.

@JanDvorak Nokia phones are crappy anyway.. :P

Yeah.

@animuson drools

bjb is notorious for not getting the point despite multiple methods of explanation.
Also, my snark < Russian armor piercing rounds < bjb's skull.

@hichris123 WUT? Nokia phones secondary usage was blunt weapon

8:33 PM
@JanDvorak Which is why Russia never invaded Finland

@SomeKittens "famous or well known" Uh… no.

arg! 4 more superuser.com/a/793267/235569 obvious attempt to gather upvotes :)

@SomeKittens I thought it was because the russians were confused by seeing flowing water?

bjb cannot stomach a situation where he's not the center of attention.

Siiiigh… I'm leaving.

8:35 PM
s/not //

@JanDvorak !

everyone be nice to @bjb568

Or else he'll whine about you on meta and flag.

or else he'll have his mom call the mods :/

user170979
Everyone be nice in general.

8:38 PM
^

That's useful

@SantaClaus isn't that essentially the top of the cv queue?
except slower to update

@JanDvorak No idea.

8:40 PM
and not load-balanced properly

@JanDvorak But I could easily make it so you could choose off-topic close reasons

@SantaClaus still a copy

@JanDvorak You can't choose off-topic close reasons in the cv queue

oh, the subreasons? That's... nice. But it still lacks load-balancing.

Would someone care to rollback this?

8:43 PM
Please do.

I don't have editing privileges.

@Jamal Yes: I meant that in a general sense ("if anyone's out there, please do").

Ah :-)

@JanDvorak Throw 14 in for the parameter for recommendation off-topics

8:46 PM
var markers = document.getElementsByClassName("catchup-marker");
for(var i = 0; i < markers.length; i++){
    markers[i].className = markers[i].className.split(/catchup-marker-*\s*\d*/).join("");
}
Removes the catchup markers

!!tell astro format

Hmm...

oh. This is the tavern...

@AstroCB needs its own box..

or *his?

8:48 PM
Doesn't help, though: even a userscript would just run on page load...

@AstroCB look up "mutation observer"

The best I could do is inject a button that clears them, but that's too much trouble to go to for just removing the separation bars.

@JanDvorak (the code) needs its own box

@Braiam oh.

So PendingFlags is where the close votes are stored? I was having a hell of a time getting close vote counts the other day, but I was looking through PostFeedback and ReviewTasks.

8:49 PM
@JasonC ya

How about that.

@JanDvorak Interesting: I'll give that a try...

> Despite the name, this table in fact contains close-related flags and votes.

Thanks
@SantaClaus Milk is to cookies as ______ is to browser cookies? (Difficulty: not browser milk)

cookie clicker milk?

8:58 PM
... ew

@JasonC Spoiled milk?

@JasonC boobs?
3

localStorage?

@JanDvorak Beat me to it.

@JanDvorak Good guess but no, it's boobs.

8:59 PM
@JasonC ew

Hee hee now the star list says 2 boobs. Next one's the total recall midget.

should I star a message I don't like just to ruin a joke I like even less?

@JanDvorak It only makes it better. Let's go for 5 boobs.

@JasonC ew

Maybe this will work out better for you:
pounds of bacon.

9:18 PM
Say things for testing purposes

star this for testing purposes

user163250
BJB's skull is so thick, it blocks radiation!

user163250
I wanted to play the game too.

More things!
So...close...
It removes all separators but the last one.

@Cupcake Cupcake is soft and fluffy!
Eww. How do I know @Cupcake isn't stale?

9:21 PM
var markers = document.getElementsByClassName("catchup-marker");
var observer = new MutationObserver(function(){ var markers = document.getElementsByClassName("catchup-marker");
for(var i = 0; i < markers.length; i++){
markers[i].className = markers[i].className.split(/catchup-marker-*\s*\d*/).join("");
}});
observer.observe(document.getElementById("chat"), {attributes: true, childList: true, characterData: true});
That's as good as it gets
How does it decide what's code?

// indent each line by 4 spaces
// and i guess it comes out as code

var markers = document.getElementsByClassName("catchup-marker");
var observer = new MutationObserver(function(){ var markers = document.getElementsByClassName("catchup-marker");
for(var i = 0; i < markers.length; i++){
    markers[i].className = markers[i].className.split(/catchup-marker-*\s*\d*/).join("");
}});
observer.observe(document.getElementById("chat"), {attributes: true, childList: true, characterData: true});

@JasonC fail

@hichris123 Yeah but do it multiline with a reply!

Magic

9:25 PM
`// this works`
`// as does this`
... or not.

Bahaha

@SantaClaus Error: The operation has completed successfully.

@JasonC That's kinda true, since development has already been enabled on the device...

// indent each line by 4 spaces
// and I'm sure it comes out as code

9:28 PM
test

^ Bahaha

test

I did 3 spaces instead of 4 at first...

@JasonC test test
:D

9:31 PM
@hichris123 Code is stupid anyways.

@JasonC lol, totally a programmer.

Here's a rudimentary userscript fix in the meantime. One issue: because of the way the separators are added, it will display the last-added separator, so you will see one at a time. However, I think that this behavior actually makes more sense as a solution for the original description: why would you want to know all of the places you've removed your focus from chat? The only useful one is the last-added (the last time you moved to a different window/tab). — AstroCB 40 secs ago

@AstroCB There's actually a keyboard shortcut that already exists to clear them away.

Oh, really?
...
What is it?

@AstroCB Yeah, F5.

9:37 PM
Ah...
I see.

9:52 PM
mm.... why is there a horizontal scroll bar in chat?
D:
it gets centered when I send a message

There was a blog article; maybe by Joel, or Tim Post, or somebody that I read the other day about the value of reminding people to be good at the last minute, and how that's put into effect on SE sites. Does anybody know what I'm talking about / where that is?

@JasonC I think it was Tim Post's.

@hichris123 No not that one; but that one's a really good one.

Okay, then I'm not sure what you're talking about.

Ah found it it was Jeff Atwood; forgot it was on Coding Horror.

@bjb568: No, of course not. Don't be ridiculous. I'm saying that when you post to SO and use certain markdown, you're using markdown that may include sanitized HTML (but it may include something else totally as well). I give up; you're clearly trying to argue by injecting meaning into my words that isn't even close to what I actually wrote. — Ken White 10 mins ago
^ Obviously you saying things that are ambiguous is impossible.

Q: Where should "Issue with MS Exchange Client Mac 2011" question be asked?

robI have the following question: I have installed the native Microsoft Outlook for Mac 2011 client on my MBP and it's been running fine for 6 months. Two weeks ago, I moved all emails to a subfolder I created with the name "archive." Since then, Microsoft Outlook is stuck in a per...
