I made a joke :D
Q: How many Stack Overflow users does it take to change a lightbulb?
A: 9. One to ask the question, five to close it as Off Topic, and three to delete it. :P

What is it about the chat system here that attracts so much crazy? Yeah, I know, I know, we're on the Internet, but it seems disproportionate even for that.
(Based on how many people use the chat, how valuable the chat is, and how much effort gets devoted to chat by mods and Meta users.)

2:48 PM
@PopularDemand Maybe not, but you have failed to be elected as a moderator now, so that's a point in your favor.
Most flagged user on chat.SO: Jeff Atwood
Most flagged current employee of SO: nothing to see here.
Most ignored user on chat.SO: Feeds

What I actually meant -- and I'm confident you knew this -- was that mods and Meta users have to spend too much of their time arguing with and/or cleaning up after the crazy.

oh yeah. Hence the snazzy new reports on who's getting flagged / ignored the most in chat.

It's just that I saw these two posts consecutively this morning:

Q: Stackoverflow chat proposal

okokWhile playing with my biggest friends in the Javascript chatroom, it came to my mind, that why can't the chat not be limited and therefore benefit users who write less using the following logic: every day you have for example 300 posts available if on day x the user has only posted 10 messages ...

Q: Chat suspension - no hard rule thus subjects to abuse?

yizI was having lunch, after I returned, I saw a little message on my screen and it reads something like this: Your account has been temporarily suspended by a moderator and cannot chat for 6 days. Apparently according to some random online user, ban reasons are private between SE/mods and th...

(the downside being that, according to the data, I must now censure myself)
@PopularDemand another way to look at this is, folks on chat.so are so bored they've nothing better to do than fixate on a handful of troublemakers and give them all the attention they so crave.

3:04 PM
That's crazy in its own way, so I stand by my statement.
Since you're here, @Shog9... could you perhaps provide the answer to my latest MSO comment?
After which I will wipe said comment out.

Hi! What should happen with sites like http://088062.com that are autotranslating SO without indicating what they're doing; having no legal notice as well?
Is MSO the right place to report them?

Yep, there are two existing posts for that.

Q: Report sites that use SE content without following attribution rules here

Popular DemandThere are a number of license-violating clones of Stack Exchange sites popping up that use SE's cc-wiki data without following our Creative Commons attribution terms. Those terms are linked at the bottom of every SE webpage, and are also included as a .txt file in every data dump we produce. The...

Q: Report high-Google-ranking SE content copiers here

Popular DemandThis tweet by Jeff was posted in chat: for those of you seeing scrapers rank above #stackoverflow can you reply with your exact google query terms? (plain text only, no urls) Tweeted by codinghorror on December 9, 2010 at 7:59 AM Since some of us don't use Twitter, I thought it'd be helpf...

Use Stack Exchange's considerable clout in the techie community to remove support for floating point numbers from future hardware and software, and deprecate them elsewhere. It'll improve overall SO question quality, and it's not like anyone really uses floats for anything important, right? There's no downside!

@PopularDemand Ah, thanks, wasn't able to find them. Have filed it now

5:44 PM
Based on the aforementioned SO questions, @PopularDemand, I'm thinking no one uses floating point numbers correctly =) So I'm supportive of the request.

6:44 PM
stupid graphics processing, vectors, and other really fast cpu tricks
how dare you use floating point numbers

Huh... I just noticed that the SO header has changed...
No more quick link to MSO :/

That seems..unintentional.

Q: Missing: "Meta" from Stack Overflow navigation. Reward offered

MattThe "meta" link has disappeared from the navigation bar of Stack Overflow... I'm feeling quite lost at the moment.

"A Brief Autobiographical Retelling"

Ok Mr. Tim, how about something that would fit in a menu button? :P
