Is comment deletion still rate-limited for moderators? (Disregarding the case where they nuke an entire thread at once.)

2:31 AM
Yes

2:53 AM
@animuson You brought us all nachos? That's awfully generous.

2 hours later…
4:31 AM
Playing the conspiracy card @animuson, nicely done.

Hahaha I'm soooo bored

@TimStone there is no conspiricy

Now would be a good time to use @RebeccaChernoff as a scapegoat.

been there, done that.
not my fault (:

@TimStone unforunatly blame has already been officially assigned to punyon

4:40 AM
@Zypher I'm willing to sign off on that.

the wheel never lies

@RebeccaChernoff It's OK, I can still blame you for not replying to my Skype message. :P

say wha?

i should probably check those changes in
sigh long day

pfft, non-checked in changes are FUN

4:41 AM
I've had enough non checked in fun today

YOU WILL HAVE MORE FUN, AND YOU WILL LIKE IT.

TOOOO LATE

:o Was I kicked out of the Tavern!? I'm not even drunk!
I know because I don't drink. o.o

@TimStone did you actually send me a skype message or are you just trying to trick me? >_<

@RebeccaChernoff likes to do taht every now and again

4:43 AM
@RebeccaChernoff No, I totally did.

@animuson That doesn't sound healthy at all.

Wednesday morning, shortly before 8:00 am your time.

wohoo down to 4 open tickets, started the week with like 10

^^ that sound like an invitation to anybody else?

4:43 AM
[7/11/2012 8:50:46 AM] Tim Stone: meta.stackoverflow.com/a/139363/150235 :o?

@RebeccaChernoff tickets are no longer auto assigned we have a mechanical bart do that now :)

Everyone should upvote my new faq proposal before it gets converted. :)

I don't understand Ubuntu's naming scheme for the PHP packages, but am I to believe that the blog server is running PHP 5.2.6 by the way? 'Cause if so, some sysadmin should totally update that.

@TimStone did you accidentally break it again and then you made me break it when I updated recently?
@Zypher I bet I could figure out how to assign you a ticket if I tried.

My brain exploded trying to parse that sentence.

4:45 AM
Oh let's not talk about breaking things -.- Ive had enough of broken stuff today

/removes @RebeccaChernoff 's permissions

@Zypher Back up to 5? =)

@jadarnel27 nah she can't get into my secret area
2

Whatever update you did...whenever that was that I helped you figure out what to update...somehow got undone.

@Zypher That sounds inappropriate.

4:47 AM
when did we deploy?

@jadarnel27 I was trying to think of a witty response but I was too busy shaking my head.

@RebeccaChernoff Back in the day...
Uhh, looks like June 11th.

so, you fixed something after we deployed, didn't tell me, and you're trying to blame me? ):

@jadarnel27 HR only cares when it becomes ... oh who am i kidding HR doesn't care
@RebeccaChernoff sounds legit

4:49 AM
@Zypher when the HR department is the worst of the bunch rofl

@RebeccaChernoff No, you totally deployed it and then tried to say I didn't fix it because you had cache problems. :P
But it's somehow been undeployed.

JUNE 12TH
if we deployed on the 11th...well, the 12th is after the 11th.

Oh wow
No, you're totally right.
|:

@TimStone DAMNIT don't admit that

and yet you doubted
WHEN WILL YOU LEARN

4:50 AM
she is going to be INSUFFERABLE

I uh...epic fail. To my credit, I did tell you I fixed it.

@Zypher I understand. I started signing all of my work e-mails "Hugs and kisses" instead of "Thanks." No one has complained yet. That, or no one reads my e-mails.

But somehow I thought it had been deployed, and that...never actually happened.

@Zypher: "one we do no control yet" - You should proof-read more. :)

@jadarnel27 i actually sign off on most of my emails thanks, because I'm so used to having a sig fill the rest in. But i don't use a sig @ se

4:52 AM
@animuson you point that out, but not the end of his comment?

A: New Feature: Community Review Tasks - Now in Beta

EJPCompletely impractical. Very poor workflow design. Presenting reviews one at a time is just too slow a process. If there really are 58.1k 'close' votes pending, nobody is ever going to get to them all. You need to present 20/50/100 to a page so people can pick their areas of expertise, and proba...

@animuson you do not know me that well :)

and this is the sysadmin we let on our servers, folks! (;

@Zypher I know, I might have to go into hiding

4:54 AM
hey i've also been fighting DFS replciation problems for two days now
that doesn't help

@jadarnel27 I said some of the same things just in nicer words.

A: New Feature: Community Review Tasks - Now in Beta

animusonWell done, it looks really good and it will help a lot of people, I'm sure. However, I personally like the old review system. It's more familiar to me and, especially with suggested edits, lets me browse an entire page of results to quickly find things I can easily act on. I personally don't like...

@RebeccaChernoff Maybe one day. Not likely, but...we can dream. So uh, ignoring...that thing that didn't actually happen where I said one thing that wasn't entirely true...if you could update the site at some point I'd appreciate it. :P

working on it. pulled the update. now just gotta find where it is on the server so I can copy

Thanks!

@animuson I'm a much bigger fan of your version. And now that you point it out, there is nothing constructive in that answer that hasn't already been mentioned in other answers (by you and Manish) =) So I don't feel bad about downvoting.

4:58 AM
@TimStone try now

@TimStone: It's a can of nuts, man. Do you trust her? Is it really a can of nuts?

@RebeccaChernoff Excellent
@animuson I ... what? o_o

@animuson I mean, look at me - how could you not trust me?

@RebeccaChernoff Doesn't that make your neck sore?

@TimStone Have you never opened one of those fake cans where things pop out at you?

5:01 AM
@jadarnel27 gotta do some warmup neck stretches, for sure.

Hahah

@Rebecca: Is there any estimation of when we get the Answerama prizes? :x Can we request gift wrap to make it feel extra special?

@RebeccaChernoff Didn't the girl in The Exorcist do that too?
@animuson Oddly, no.

@animuson not a clue, heh (:

Oh yeah, I still need to open my keyboard from the Gaming contest. I...really get distracted.

5:06 AM
Looking at the team page gifs again, I can't help but notice that Emmett looks like the guy from Accepted.
Exactly like that guy.

Hahahah
@RebeccaChernoff Oh, I suppose the (old) node process could be run again too at some point, to update the active elections...
Think I'll spend the weekend taking care of all the planned updates.
Hmm...and the Town Halls are next week, should update that userscript to remove the @mentions when I was the one asking the question.

active elections updated

Awesome, thanks :)
And now I think it's time for me to take a break to rest, before I start imagining more things...heh.

5:32 AM
@jadarnel27 nice movie, i liked it very much
Question : If I downvote an Wiki Answer, will i get -1 ?

No, a community wiki post does not affect reputation in any way.

ok

Stack Overflow suggested edit queue is at zero :o

Kind of makes me wonder how many poor edits were accepted. :P

Well I used all my edit votes, so at least 50 =D

I was moderately surprised nobody complained on meta after I burned through my 50 when it was full yesterday
(there were a few minor or invalid ones I might have taken more time to improve instead if the queue wasn't full)

@Flexo If it makes you feel any better, I did judge you severely while trawling through your activity, counteracting all of your edit decisions.

1:27 PM
there were a few we disagreed on

@Flexo Just kidding, by the way - no judgement here =)

yeah I figured :)
I was just curious how much agreement there was

I think the ones we disagreed on were pretty borderline.
Heh, the bounty text on that question just says "Someone plese help its very very urgent."

1:46 PM
@jadarnel27 somehow I prefer "this question has not received enough attention"

2:02 PM
@Flexo Yeah, me too haha.
Is a not-nice revision note a valid reason to reject a suggested edit?

If you feel strongly enough about it to ask here, then it probably is.

@PopularDemand That's...a good point.
I hesitated too long, so it got approved anyway. But this is the one I was referring to.
(I realize that's not particularly offensive, but it's certainly unnecessary)

2:21 PM
typos look a lot like lazy rather than just not very fluent in English though
but yeah I might have contemplated improve+not helpful to change the edit message
not keen on giving someone 2 rep for being a smug douche personally

@Flexo Haha, that's exactly what I was thinking. I also tried to do the "improve" + "not helpful" thing, but it just submitted a separate edit (because others had already approved while I sat on the page, contemplating the Universe).

I love what the slugifier has done here:

@jadarnel27 code formatting to prevent oneboxing?

3:26 PM
@mootinator did you make that? Is it your fault my friends are now sharing yet another "today is the day" image on facebook?

@AakashM Correct!

3:45 PM
@jadarnel27 cool, ta

It just took me a minute to realize what you were referring to. I figured I'd clarify the hilarity for others as slow as myself =)

Q: Can we make language wars a punishable offense in chat?

Carrie KendallOn June 29, 2012 Jeff Atwood wrote a blog about PHP which a lot of people saw as another language bashing blog. Whether it is or not is not really my concern with this question but, more so, the aftermath. Many replies¹ (mostly counter-rants) were written and a great bit of this talk gets fi...

actually it turns out to be rather boring...

I don't think that blog post was popular there

I just realized that I graduated high school 15 years ago

@jcolebrand And Firefly was 10 years ago
@balpha It only took 5 minutes for the conversation to get boring?

@TimYiJiang That is so awesome.
I bet @ManishEarth would get a kick out of that, being a Physics geek and all.

Haha, awesome. Didn't want you to miss out on that hilarity =D

:P
Actually, I've been much less active on Physics.SE lately. Chem moderation, MSO, hanging around in TL (AKA The Tavern on steroids), and indian chat mod keeps me occupied these days (along with programming)
Still active in chat/community building, but I'm posting much less

Neat-sauce. All sounds very fun and constructive. I imagine Chem doesn't require a huge amount of attention at this point =)

Nope. Few comments here and there on post improvement, a flag every two days, some migration discussions, and sometimes a problem user
We need about half a mod right now

Hahaha

4:59 PM
@ManishEarthwantsmorewaffles So you're saying that you're perfect for the job? =P
Siiiiiiiickbuuuuuuuurn!

5:15 PM
Only my comment was deleted. Am I really that terrible? -_-

@minitech what was it? Want me to ask a mod?

@ManishEarthwantsmorewaffles It was just the same sort of idea as the other ones:
> bug, because it doesn't have
It was the one before DeadMG's comment.

5:43 PM
@minitech I think someone might have flagged that comment along with the rest in that answer and one of the other moderators saw it at the same time as Robert was deleting the answer. I'd chalk it up to a race condition, rather than anything malicious.
@minitech Actually, now that I look at it, I think Robert started to work the comment flags, then saw the answer was bad and just cut it off at the source. Again, no offense intended.

I don't see any posts suggesting that it's new... is it?

Hmm
I don't recall ever seeing that page before.

Huh.

I just learned of it from this comment:

@kmote: As far as I know, not even moderators can do that. Delevopers can, but they do so rarely. If there's something you must have deleted (e.g., if accidentally posted sensitive information), you can send an email to request deletion. — Dennis 4 hours ago

Well, it's not anywhere on any page I've ever visited.
Indeed, "help" appears nowhere in the source of... well... anywhere.

Anonymous
Apparently the "contact us" link in the footer points there now, instead of being an email link.

Ah.
So yes, I suppose it is new. :P

:|
I just did a Ctrl+F: "help" on view-source:http://stackoverflow.com/ and it's not there. But I can see it.
And now it shows up. I probably put an accent on the e or something.

Since we can't check ourselves: @Shog9: Do you know if the question ban message has been changed to point there, or does it still point to the meta post?

6:42 PM
If there's a moderater around could they please have a look at migrating this? thanks.

@jeremy that's new. Made by aarthi and rchern, IIRC

@JeremyBanks Start posting a lot of really bad questions. :)

@ManishEarthwantsmorewaffles Nice.

@acarter flag it, always flag it. Also, it was deleted, so I assume it felt into the crap category (don't migrate crap and all that)

@animuson Perhaps when I get home. I don't think the rest of the office would appreciate me getting us an IP-ban.

@ManishEarthwantsmorewaffles He deleted it himself. "Options for migration don't include webapps, so I will just delete this question and re-ask it." He has now re-asked it on Web Applications.

@ManishEarthwantsmorewaffles It says that it was self deleted on the "Page not found" page =)

On mobile, not bothered to zoom. And I wouldnt know if it was his q anyway

@acarter don't delete and cross post, flag for migration. (custom flag unless it is in the off topic path).

Q: Moving Fiddle from Dashboard to Public

TyrsiusSo, I feel a bit silly asking this, but I can't find anything in the docs. I have one fiddle under my [Public Fiddles], and several under [Dashboard]. How do I move a fiddle from [Dashboard] to [Public Fiddles]?

@ManishEarthwantsmorewaffles I think that deleting and cross-posting is okay sometimes.
Generally, in the rare case of an accidental posting; or if it's immediately and authoritatively pointed out that you're in the wrong place, and there exists a better place. I figure why make the mods spend time on it.

7:19 PM
...I replied to the wrong message there. Chat fail. I should be put down.

7:42 PM
@ManishEarth the OP deleted and reposted. I'm not sure how migrating works, so I thought I'd better ask.
Just had a look at the moving flags (haven't seen them before) so I'll know what to do next time :)

9:34 PM
@JeremyBanks I believe it still points to the meta post, but that's not a bad idea...

But... that page just links to the Meta post.

@PopularDemand it offers a few other things. Like a very explicit "fix your existing content" notice.
Having fielded email support requests about this for a while, I'm becoming convinced that nobody read that meta post anyway.

Can't argue with that.

But the solution to that problem is to give up on those users. We're all here to help, but you have to come in with some foundation.
