I'm out of the loop for the new site design. According to that question, all the site's designs are live for everyone now. However, I am not seeing the updated theme in many sites e.g in SuperUser, I was expecting to see this theme but instead I am seeing this theme. What am I missing here?

@Himanshu Need to dig on meta but basically we hated the meta-look-alike theme
and wanted a remix of the old theme

@JourneymanGeek Ok thanks. I got that for SuperUser, but I am also not seeing the beautiful graphics at the top of Server Fault's header.

@Himanshu I think the older sites/trilogy didn't want substancial changes

People seemed to be mixed on these design flourishes, so we pulled them. We can add them back in if there is strong support. — Joe Friend Aug 13, 2018 at 19:13

7:44 AM
child abuse spammer on Stack Overflow, if you are desperate for something to flag

1 hour later…
9:05 AM
@tripleee you mean link to cp site? Well probably long gone by now...

9:21 AM
@ShadowWizardChasingStars yeh, it's gone now but they spammed three times already, so might come back
I didn't want to link from here since Stack Overflow links are generally unwelcome here; just a brief heads-up (but if you want a link, metasmoke.erwaysoftware.com/spammers/346330)

@tripleee wonder if SE can involve police.
oh it's "just" Telegram group invite lol. No police. And I don't plan to check if that group is really what spammer says it is.

meta.stackexchange.com/questions/268574/… seems to suggest to just report directly to relevant authorities, which I believe I have

More likely it's just scammers who'll try to take money.

if I were a scammer I would at least not try to make it look like I'm committing other crimes too; but of course, you could be right

@tripleee yeah, well, nothing we can really do either way. ;(

10:10 AM
@JourneymanGeek I seem to have lost access to chat.meta.stackexchange.com/rooms/1664, a room I was previously chatting in; can you please investigate why my access was revoked? (cc @Glorfindel)

@SonictheAnonymousHedgehog No idea what happened but you should have access again.

@Glorfindel Thanks! I think it may have something to do with the RO list getting cleared of non-mods when a room is made private, then it takes a while for chat profile access lists' cache to update.

could be, yes

@SonictheAnonymousHedgehog secret room where MSE leaders decide the fate of people?
:P

@ShadowWizardChasingStars No, a non-mod staff member asked me to share something privately with them.

10:17 AM
@SonictheAnonymousHedgehog staff has all mod powers so not relevant, but yeah saw the comment asking you for that.

Was the conversion to private room very recent? It's a known issue that non-mods cannot be RO in private rooms and they will be removed and kicked automatically by the system after 24 hours.

@Glorfindel ^
@MetaAndrewT. Yes, the room was created yesterday night

@MetaAndrewT. what's with the RO? Why does it matter so much?

OK, well write access should be sufficient...

One can just have ordinary access to private room without being RO of it. No?

Q: Prevent non-moderators from owning private rooms

badpConsider the following: Get a legitimate reason to discuss in private with a moderator. Create a room on chat.SE. You are owner of that room and have full rights over it. Locate an active moderator from a site different than the room's for the private talk. Give him owner access. Invite him for...

Not an issue, but an intentional design feature. People were abusing old privatized rooms they created to make private chats that go against the spirit

@SonictheAnonymousHedgehog yeah but I can't figure what's so special with being RO vs. being just having access to the room.

Fun fact: that's how limited moderation through RO in temporary TL was infeasible back then, when mods getting automatically kicked from the chat room by the system...

In the few private room I was part of, I was never made RO and I'm totally fine with it.

@ShadowWizardChasingStars Ability to view deleted messages plus modify the access list themselves (so I could have fixed the issue myself)

@SonictheAnonymousHedgehog so you now have private room you can manage? Nice. :D
hehe I can see who posted in that secret room of yours.
Both Tink and Journeyman, and maybe JNat as well though they might have posted in the staff private room.
Sadly it doesn't show the name of the room when it's private. :(
@nicael nope, don't remember ever hearing of any "voting-activity-tracker". I do remember you caused me to lose 20k rep on MSE in few seconds, which was very impressive back in the time. ;)
I do remember someone (think called Pierre) who kept claiming he has a way to see who voted on his posts. Is this related?
@nicael no idea what makes you think it's spam, it's not. Just ordinary MSO crap. lol

11:01 AM
@MetaAndrewT. lol
THAT was 'fun'

11:13 AM
@JourneymanGeek as fun as the hammertime here?

@ShadowWizardChasingStars not only do you get de-ROed, you get kicked
which is a bit of a problem when you're setting ROs :D

@JourneymanGeek but what's the point of setting RO in mod-only chat???

@ShadowWizardChasingStars ah full story/

Any member of the chat have full RO powers and more. lol

We didn't have a mechanism for moderation on the TL

11:15 AM
@JourneymanGeek what's "mechanism for moderation"?

and uh... trouble happened so it was moved here and we were working with the CMs to get ROs and so on pending necessary changes to the main TL
@ShadowWizardChasingStars well, mods can't moderate mods

@JourneymanGeek so you mean you elected some "super mods" and made them RO to have it known?
And those super mods could delete messages while low level ordinary mods could not? (Well, should not)

@ShadowWizardChasingStars kick people, amongst other things
VERY rare but...
(all this is documented on main meta so... uh... don't shoot me for revealing secrets :D)

Ideally CM's would moderate mod-only chats.

Q: New chat moderation tools for the Teachers' Lounge

CatijaThe Teachers' Lounge (or "TL" for short) is a private chat room that is a dedicated space for the diamond moderators of the Stack Exchange sites to communicate with each other for a variety of reasons. Historically, this room was parented on the Stack Exchange chat "server" (did you know we have ...

@ShadowWizardChasingStars at the time, CMs didn't really have the uh... moral authority

11:19 AM
@JourneymanGeek pity.

@ShadowWizardChasingStars and at the moment, CM work's quite heavily on the back end IMO
There's a certain need for front-enditude to moderate chat

@JourneymanGeek huh. But was it ever actually done? Or just a test, never coming to life?

@ShadowWizardChasingStars it very much is how we run things now
We have... annual, I think RO elections
I ran one, and managed to get the CMs to take over cause I really couldn't manage that and the job-o-doom at once

11:40 AM
@tripleee already flagged :/
Well time for late lunch. Still not sure what to eat.
considering to eat a @user but looks like it won't suffice

@ShadowWizardChasingStars Pick something with calories, vitamins, minerals and fibers :P

12:19 PM
@ShadowWizardChasingStars food

@Tinkeringbell nah, just sugar and fat is better. Yum yum. :D
@JourneymanGeek for thought?
eating a book

no
for stomach
and mouth

@ShadowWizardChasingStars sugar and fat? I don't think I know of any sugary but also really fatty stuff...
Fried fruit, maybe?
Or any kind of fruit in puff pastry?

@JourneymanGeek bread
@JourneymanGeek chocolate
@Tinkeringbell nuts!

12:34 PM
@ShadowWizardChasingStars basically food
@Tinkeringbell the pastry is basically both

@ShadowWizardChasingStars Nuts aren't sugary, are they? And only fat if they're also fried.

the layers are basically cause of fat between dough
also nuts are basically fat and starch
unrelatedly

@JourneymanGeek Not really, there's no sugar at all in the puff pastry recipes I know.

@Tinkeringbell hm?

Unless you count the starch as 'sugary' :P

12:35 PM
but the stuff IN the pastry
@Tinkeringbell well, kinda sorta
carbs are carbs

@JourneymanGeek Ah, yes, that's why I mentioned the fruit specifically :D
@JourneymanGeek Not all of them necessarily taste sugary though :P

@JourneymanGeek what is it? Your new 128k screen causing all avatars to be blurred due to the super zoom?
Text can be scaled, images less so. :(

woof

BTW, @Tink
Got this at work today ^

Well that sure meets the criteria for sugary

12:37 PM
@ShadowWizardChasingStars playing with github.com/fathyb/carbonyl . I'm amused it runs SE

@Tinkeringbell more fat than sugar, I think. And all already eaten of course. :P

@ShadowWizardChasingStars Marshmallow, dried fruit... and maybe a few nuts. Looks more like sugar than fat to me, but I can't see what's below it :P

@JourneymanGeek well, bet SE can "run" in washing machine too, if it would have a browser. :P

@sh true

@Tinkeringbell more kinds of nuts

12:39 PM
it is however the jankiest working way there is
Nuts are fat. :D

@Aibobot yip
But I still trying to gain my lost weight. :D
So I do have a good excuse. ;)

@ShadowWizardChasingStars Oh, I think I found that weight you lost some while back. Want it back? Shipping is kinda expensive though...

@Tinkeringbell mental transfer, please. setting brain to "receive" mode

Sorry. Covid, my brain is still broken :P

I believe one day that would be a thing, people sharing things mentally, without having to write or talk. ;)
@Tinkeringbell replace the chip ;)

12:43 PM
@ShadowWizardChasingStars Again, expensive :P
Wish it was that easy, just install some new memory and get rid of all the notes lying around XD

Anyway, back to my favorite rant... bugs! Looks like they finally starting to fix bugs recently, however they still don't touch the important bugs with new features i.e. new Inbox and even Saves. Plus, they appear to skip the review system, which kind of render it useless.
Guess I should be happy for the bugs that got fixed, that's indeed better than nothing. :D
@Tinkeringbell nah, would be decades before they touch memory, I was thinking more of actual chip, like WiFi chip in phones, that will allow sending and receiving thoughts from other people with the chip.
It won't read the memory, the person sending will have to think of something very specific to "activate" it.

Ugh. That would send butt-dials to a whole new level though. I don't think that's a good idea XD
And it needs a very, very good spam protection for e.g. public transport :P

Well yeah people who care for their privacy won't really ever use it. :D

@Tinkeringbell I'm pretty sure with the case of some of my friends, anyone who tries to read their minds would be curled up in a ball and need therapy :D

Until the government decides such a chip would be a good replacement of phone alerts (after all, you can forget your phone, or it runs out of power) in case of disasters. Just like they're now expecting people to get a phone, and want to eventually phase out the noise-sirens.
@JourneymanGeek I mean, it would probably make therapy much more efficient though? No more keeping back from your therapist :P
Just go into the scanner, and it will tell you exactly what pills or other form of therapy you need.

12:55 PM
@Tinkeringbell until the therapists need therapy
even the AI ones

@JourneymanGeek ping

@JourneymanGeek I was about to say we could automate so no more humans needing therapy.. I dunno if AI ever will need therapy, or if that would be called 'bug-fixing' :P

TherapistGPT
@Aibobot woof
@Tinkeringbell noise-sirens are a totally must to have, in case of real war electricity will be out, and people won't be able to use phones. Sadly nobody really get this. So if some stupid politicians will really remove the sirens, they'll be responsible for the death of great many people when war comes, and the people won't have a way to know missiles are coming. :(
@Tinkeringbell easy, the most expansive pills possible. ;)

1:03 PM
@ShadowWizardChasingStars Eh, I propose we don't let big pharma code the therapy AI :P
Probably just make it 'open source' so that every one can add the cheapest options :P
And it will end up recommending only walks in nature and cleaning your room ;)

@ShadowWizardChasingStars that was carefree time...
@ShadowWizardChasingStars I'll probably finish that tool and will just show you the results, it would be easier than explaining

are you looking at the effects of the 'invisible' votes?
since you can get the 'rep cap' related badges on per site metas

@Tinkeringbell and drinking those gooey green "super drinks"

@ShadowWizardChasingStars ... mountain dew?

@Aibobot yeah it was discussed here recently I think, the rep cap badges look for votes, not actual rep gain.
@JourneymanGeek haha, nope. This:
Homemade stuff
Not sure if it's part of the vegan trend, or something that grew up on its own.

1:11 PM
ah unfiltered pond water. Do you want brain eating amoebae ? That's how you get brain eating amoebae

@Aibobot that voting activity is actually tracked and has been tracked for as long as I can remember; back when I was a beginner web-dev in 2015 I made a basic a tool on a free domain (now terminated) which was built with a purpose to disclose these votes for anyone who's concerned, essentially it provided the same information that reputation tab provides on main sites

@nicael sure thing!

@nicael I know :D
(aibobot's my alt-account. I was testing something)

But more likely you'll just get MIA again before that, for 6-8 years. :D

@JourneymanGeek ah okay then
didn't know that

1:13 PM
@JourneymanGeek that's made from some plant, Kale, and with actual leaves from trees.
Think people also adding flowers to it.

as opposed to fake leaves ? :D

Sadly, that's no joke, people make and drink such things, thinking it cleanse their body.
@Aibobot as opposed to common sense telling us we're humans, not cows, and should not eat such things. :P

@ShadowWizardChasingStars Uggggh! Gross

Meh , most brassica are perfectly fine cooked properly

1:15 PM
Now you know my sock as well. :D
I find "sock" better fitting than "alt account".

@ShadowWizardChasingStars well true, but its not an account I actually use for anything useful except testing random wierd things

@Aibobot cooked of course, talking about eating raw plants/flowers.

Salads are often fine
just not... blended

@JourneymanGeek looks like a long test here, you keep switching between the accounts. ;)

We're omnivores. That's latin for ' we eat whatever we can catch and won't kill us'

1:17 PM
@JourneymanGeek yeah, but that's vegetables, not random plants and flowers that otherwise used just to have nice view.

@ShadowWizardChasingStars spinashes are tasty leaves

@JourneymanGeek more and more people oppose this and choose to eat only very specific things though.

we eat dried neem flowers, and they are tasty.

Yeah well, there are exceptions. But those green "super drinks" aren't such exception. :D
hehe and in the meanwhile while we're idly chatting here, Peter worked hard to fix your answer. :P

@JourneymanGeek "catch" or buy in the supermarket? Or is grocery shopping a hunt?
I wonder if I can just use netting, and have collect all groceries at one point instead of walking around the entire shop...

1:22 PM
Catch with bare hands, maybe a knife.

1:33 PM
@Tinkeringbell yes

Shopping is totally the new hunting. It requires bravery and patience, and you risk physical harm.
:D
(e.g. if some heavy package falls on your leg.)

Some say, there is no more savagery than... REBECCA BLACK FRIDAY.

Not to mention boss fight, i.e. the cashier. :D

What!? It's Black Friday!?

(then again, you can buy stuff online)

1:38 PM
@MetaAndrewT. it's Black Friday every Monday, known fact.

@JourneymanGeek Yeah, but that's also dangerous... once you start it's hard to stop!

@JourneymanGeek no thrill
I'm still waiting for a delivery I ordered online two months ago. Status on the site is still "pending".
(from supermarket!)

2:02 PM
That's rare, spammer nuked.

2:22 PM
@ShadowWizardChasingStars maybe a mod saw it :D
a lot of smokey deletions are 'silent'

@JourneymanGeek well out of those I bother to check, only very very few are deleted, with one exception being MSE.

@ShadowWizardChasingStars I think SU's fairly consistant as well

So yeah probably just lucky chance that mod stumbled over the spam and was in a "let's nuke spammers" day.
@JourneymanGeek actually.... from what I can tell, and the reports here, many times the spam is deleted fairly fast but spammer lives on.

@ShadowWizardChasingStars we have a mod active on charcoal
and I nuke any that he dosen't get that I see :D
and what I miss...

Well I try to remember to ping you next time I see SU spam here and spammer lives on. ;)

2:41 PM
vaguely written as if user was a woman but avatar and name on network sites is male ... (MS) parenting.stackexchange.com/a/43237

3:05 PM
@JNat another cross site spammer for ya. Thanks!
@tripleee lol man/woman isn't relevant, I've seen legit users doing it. But yeah it was spam and gone now. (Looked on the MS post.)
Think someone even once admitted in a comment something along the lines of "Having female avatar bring me more votes, so why not". :D
(I'm against it, but currently there are also no rules against it as long as it's not trying to impersonate specific actual person.)
@tripleee kaboom!
Spammer has another answer on same site, but appears legit, no link and looks actually useful, so leaving it alone for now.
!!/coffee g3r to wake him up from deep slumber.

@ShadowWizardChasingStars brews a cup of jQuery for @g3r

@SmokeDetector I'll have mine outdated please

@g3rv4 hmm 1.42 sounds good
OK everyone, think I can safely announce the new Stack Exchange Champion, SEC in short. Any guesses? ;)

3:32 PM
Ryan Donovan on February 03, 2023
We chat with Dr. Jeannette (Jamie) Garcia, Senior Research Manager of Quantum Applications and Software at IBM Quantum about their 433 qubit quantum computer and what the real life applications of quantum computing are today.

🚽

@Feeds umm it was posted three days ago
Today is Feb 6th.
> Simulating the past and future
Future is easy to predict: world ending due to climate changes. :D
No need for complex quantum machines to tell us the obvious.
Simulating the past can be fun challenge, with zero value of course.
Oh, and the SEC is, of course, Aaron! :P

4:20 PM
yeah that's nicael-2023 investing time into a design of a tool that gonna be hardly used
waaait
this looks better
i give you 1000 years to find a diffference

the voting icons

riight
thanks for attention it's time to eat something, I haven't had a breakfast yet and it's 18:24 on the clock (how is it even possible...)

I still don't understand what I see, but the design is nice. Kudos!
You made SE clone?

I’m reviving a tool that I had back then in 2015, right now that’s for fun, but on a long run I do not do anything purely for fun, I’m actually planning to develop a meta for a project I own, it just needs a meta really much, so I’ll reuse this design of mine in my future developments
This is the original tool: stackapps.com/questions/6431/…
Tldr: it’s a replacement for reputation tab on per site metas
A tracker of voting activity in essence
Like, you select a site, a date and type in your user id, and voila

5:38 PM
@ShadowWizardChasingStars is it... @spammer? :D

@ShadowWizardChasingStars I just meant, a man who says he will be breast feeding is unusual

@ShadowWizardChasingStars oh nvm. congrats to aaron!

5:49 PM
@nicael voila volia vollest! (aka well done, I guess. ;))
@user nope!
@tripleee oh, yeah, well, but still, weirder things exist.
@user yeah pity he's not around though. :(

4 hours later…
9:44 PM
lmao
pov: you have been taking a dozen of programming/algorihtn-related tutorials and now trying to accommodate into a normal life
holy shet! blast from past
