A: What can I do against moderators with double standards?

Shog9Well, there are a few popular strategies here, and considerable debate as to which is the "best"... I'll lay them out and leave the decision up to you. The Archivist This strategy involves carefully monitoring a moderator's activity over time, potentially many months or even years. Notes are ta...

A: Comments should only persist on questions / answers for 48 hours

lostsockWhile I'm a big fan of deleting/flagging comments, I see lots of value in comments many times. So I don't think auto-removing every comment after 48 hours or 2 months for that matter is the right thing to do. What I would propose instead is one or all of these processes being implemented: The ...

Where have I heard that before?...

@AstroCB :)
I'm trying to make it follow the SE sorta.

@bjb568 How are you storing passwords?

@hichris123 Truth.

I have devdoodle.net which is where the server's at. I want to send email to someaddr@devdoodle.net, but I don't want to bother fiddling with a mail server. I want to rout it to someaddr@devdoodle.com which is pointed at a different server where I don't have to set up mail. How? I did something and it sends ok, but can't receive. I get a bounce " Reason: Remote SMTP server has rejected address
Diagnostic code: smtp;550 relay not permitted"

@bjb568 Interesting.
@bjb568 You could try Mandrill, but I'm not sure if that does everything you need.

Oooh. Shiny.

You also might want to consider hiring a designer...
The whole thing is very impressive, though.
@bjb568 How long have you been working on it?
@bjb568 It's immensely useful. Whenever I learn a new language, one of the first things I have to do is learn how to use Mandrill in it.
You'd better not spam me, @bjb.
@bjb568 Is the background image the actual code for the site?

A: Any thoughts on how to react to gender-specific language?

JaDoggGet yourself a profile picture, seriously. You don't have to put your own picture. (online safety,stalkers,..) There are plenty of profile pictures/ generators. Examples : Chibi Maker avachara

Q: How can I set a NSDate object to midnight in Swift?

AstroCBI have an NSDate object and I want to set it to an arbitrary time (say, midnight) so that I can use the timeIntervalSince1970 function to retrieve data consistently without worrying about the time when the object is created. I've tried using an NSCalendar and modifying its components by using so...

> Quite fully-featured...

@AstroCB Looks helpful.
@AstroCB I wouldn't describe it as that, but ok!

@bjb568 I was doing all of these workarounds when I only needed one method to get where I wanted to go.

I wish Xcode would have a list of all the methods of something that would appear as I type…

Drupal spam is gone now.

@SantaClaus Not yet; it's in the iOS 8 API diffs.
I found it via autocomplete.
...which is unfortunate.
Because I wanted to support back to iOS 7, but that's the only way that I see it can be done.
Actually, maybe it does go back to 7.
Nope.

When @Undo pulls the new Smoke Detector revision, there will be a new feature:
Privileged users can reply to a message of Smoke Detector with bad if the post is spam, lq if the post is low quality (currently only available for Stack Overflow) or good if the post is a good post (currently only available for some sites). These judgements will be used for our Bayesian spam filter. If you want to be able to use these commands, ping Undo and he can add you to the list of the privileged users.

@ProgramFOX Quick question; when I go on spam hunts for Smokey's Bayesian filter, what would be the best way for me to report my findings?

I suggest that Smokey should listen the tavern for "SPAM [link]"

@JanDvorak ... but there's no title in your links

should I change that?

Sam
3:42 PM
@Unihedron That can be parsed from the link.

@Sam the character cases are lost though
and korean spam has weird encoded urls

Sam
@Unihedron Yeah, I know.

My filter already pushes a bare URL into my clipboard. I can just as well have it push me a markdown link

@Sam Currently, the best way to do that is by pinging Undo. I misunderstood how the Bayesian filter works for my command, so when that is fixed, I can add a command that you can use to register every title you wish.

Hmm, anyone used scikit-learn before?

Sam
3:45 PM
@ProgramFOX Ok, noted.

4:07 PM
@Unihedron you know computers are good at doing well-defined computations that are hard for humans?

@rene :O

@Sam can you compress that down a little?
or is that for the bayesian filter?

Sam
@JanDvorak It's for the filter.

@hichris123 That wasn't his post. I only flag as offf topic when they are posted in here. I can't access the queue.

@TGMCians Why would it do that before the question was closed?

@Frank Because someone voted to close.
It auto-dismisses as helpful if anyone votes to close after your flag.

6:54 PM
@hichris123 That's pretty dumb
