I must humbly say, I did like the spirit of this post - meta.stackoverflow.com/questions/169845/…

What the $^&@!? When the hell did this nonsense start!? A dollar to send a message?

@animuson It's $100 to send a message to Mark Zukerberg

@ani - it only offers to take payments when your message would otherwise get caught as spam and would not sit in the users inbox..
(said Lix 13 hours later)
@jco - howdy

Yo
@RaghavSood hasn't been fully deployed to all users has it?
And I recall it started before January

It's only for sending messages outside of your friend circles...

@jcolebrand I dunno. I haven't seen it popup even once so far, no matter who I try to message. But I've got a mutual or two with most people who it might popup with, so it might consider them within my friend circle and not show it

@RaghavSood If you read that message it will never show to people who are "friended" to you. It's fairly self evident how it works.

5:46 PM
@jcolebrand Yeah I know. They basically charge you to send messages to people who are out of your network. I'm not sure how many levels deep it considers your network to be though. Friends? Friends of Friends? Friends of friends of friends?

6:01 PM
@RaghavSood friends. It says so in the dialog above.

It's lying
Mark Zuckerberg is not on my friend list
I have one mutual friend. But it doesn't ask me to pay

"has it rolled out to everyone yet"

It does ask me to pay if I try to message Eduardo Saverin.
Maybe its a level system. Friends and mutual friends = no pay. Friends of friends of friends = Tier 1 (say a dollar or two). Friends of friends of friends of friends = tier 2 (more than a dollar or two) and so on.

Or it could even be set on privacy? Doesn't it allow you to determine who goes to the inbox?

6:33 PM
Yeah it does. I'm pretty sure I've done it
Hmm. There's two modes. Basic Message filtering and Strict filtering.
You can set it by going to the inbox, clicking other and then the edit preferences link

Anyone else notice the new revision history entry for duplicates: meta.stackoverflow.com/posts/169896/revisions ?

Can anybody explain to me what a "Bookrag" is?
I can't find a definition in the dictionary, nor on Google, nor in Wikipedia
This is a first.
Even asking Google what is a bookrag doesn't give anything. Damn!

They're like Cliff's Notes and Spark Notes aren't they?

No, I don't mean the web site of the same name, just the term itself

I've spent hours writing an answer to a (half crap) question, which then got deleted. Doh! But I'd still like to share the answer. What to do?

That's the only way I've ever heard of bookrags :/

7:52 PM
@Qtax it's going to be difficult without a question to go with it... if you think it's worthy of reopening / undeleting, you could flag it or link to it here, but failing that, I don't think there are many options
@animuson ahhh so the term originates from the web site? That makes sense then, thanks!
I thought it had to be the other way round

Question it self is not worthy. But the answer answers an underlying question, which could be worthy. I guess could ask a question my self and answer it?
Altho it has possibly been asked/answered already. qq.

Can a user with the ability please reject this synonym?
