@AlwaysConfused they can mean both iirc. I’m pretty sure there’s a meta post talking about that, I’ll see if I can find it.

@ShadowWizardIsVaccinatedV3 This is better than those guys: youtu.be/a5gUds01aXY youtu.be/mv65SAwY0s4 @Luuk

@Rob They most definetly look better ;) Although the others could also 've been woman.

What is the difference between the close reason “This question does not appear to be about the software that powers the Stack Exchange network, within the scope defined in the help center.” And “Blatantly off-topic. This question has nothing to do with the software that powers the Stack Exchange network.”

The "blatantly off-topic" only shows up for users without the close vote privilege, IIRC.

@Mithical good to know, thanks.

4:54 PM
@Mithical Alternately, the "Blatantly off-topic" may just be a historical/past version of the close reason? Depends whether @EkadhSingh-ReinstateMonica is seeing it in any current modals, or if it's just something shown on some previously closed posts.

@V2Blast I see it when flagging it as “needs improvement” then “a community specific reason.” You can probably reproduce with a sock with more than 15 and less than 3k rep (or maybe my device is just acting buggy, but I doubt it).

Rob
@ShadowWizardIsVaccinatedV3 That's quite the twist on the original recipe: food52.com/recipes/84467-thai-chicken-salad-recipe-with-peanuts

@EkadhSingh-ReinstateMonica Ah, okay.

@EkadhSingh-ReinstateMonica as someone who tried to have a low rep sock, keeping a legit low rep sock is hard

Iirc isn’t your bot at 1.8k rep?

5:02 PM
@JourneymanGeek Sure it is, if you don't... actually... post from it.

@EkadhSingh-ReinstateMonica @Mithical And yeah, after some searching, looks like you're correct that it's only displayed to those without close vote privileges. Interesting.

I did say keeping a low rep sock is hard

Keeping comfy socks is easy, though.

@V2Blast I have an unfortunate habit of remembering useless minute details about the SE software.

@V2Blast would you mind pointing me to the relevant meta post? (If it is a meta post)

5:03 PM
@Mithical That's like me with remembering useless minute details about the D&D 5e rules. :P
@EkadhSingh-ReinstateMonica It's discussed in the comments here:

Q: "Blatantly off-topic" close reason incorrectly rendering link

Dennis MengWhile flagging a question, I noticed that the "blatantly off-topic" close reason wasn't rendering the link to https://stackexchange.com/sites properly I assume that it's supposed to be just like how "network" is a link in the close reason above it. Can we get it fixed?

And here:

Q: No custom off topic message when flagging on SO

Esoteric Screen NameI have less than 3000 rep on StackOverflow. Now that the new closing changes are live, I cannot supply a custom off topic message: I can enter a custom off topic flag message without issue here on meta, though it only has three canned off topic reasons, rather than five. I'm not sure if this ...

5:46 PM
@EkadhSingh-ReinstateMonica No problem. Some other related ones: Why are there two different close reasons for questions that aren't about the site's topic?, and Double flag bug (which has a staff answer from animuson noting the different options shown to those with or without close privileges)

@Mithical this is a common problem.
Sometimes accompanied by self inflicted architecture or furniture induced percussive cranial injuries...

I want to verify something - if a button says "Save or update", is it reasonable to assume that it either saves a new thing, or alternatively it updates an existing thing?
And to be more direct - I'm talking about custom filters. I just paved over one of mine because I assumed that "save or update" would create a new filter if I gave it a different name.
I want to check if my assumption was unreasonable. If it isn't, I'd post FR to change the button.

Or means or... Not and
So yeah, reasonable assumption that that button would give you a choice

7:02 PM
@Tinkeringbell After pressing it, it asks you for a name. And since you have a filter loaded, it defaults to the current name. If you change it (like I did) it saves the same filter but with different name. Even pressing back in the browser now loads your new filter, so you can't get the old one.
Well, I just got it from the browser history but it's not always that easy.

@VLAZ is that filters on SE.com?

@rene SO, if that matters

oh, that. nvm then.

7:23 PM
@VLAZ That definitely sounds like something that should be reported somewhere.. either the message on the button is too vague or it's not working as it should. Dunno if that's a report for MSE or if that filter is an SO thing only...

Tested it on MSE - same behaviour. I'm writing an FR to either rename it or change how it works.
Steps to reproduce are east: Create a new filter for "discussion" and save it as "Foo". 2. Edit the filter, remove "discussion", add "support" (completely different tags now). 3. Click "Save or update". 4. Enter a "Bar" for a name. The old "Foo" filter is overwritten. Pressing "back" in the browser loads the "Bar" filter every time because the filter ID is in the URL - it's the same filter ID as "Foo", so you just get the latest version of that filter.
To get the old version, you need to check your history and copy the URL while omitting the filter ID. Go to it, then save it as a filter. That's how you restore it.

The autocomplete on filters also appears to be buggy.

Oh...apparently I'm just blind. When you click "Save or update" you get a window where you name the filter and there are an "Update" and "Save as new" buttons there. I overlooked this several times, it seems..

Could somebody try creating a random filter, choose the option tagged with the following tags, and then type in “Z” and see what shows up in the autocomplete? For me, some of the tags that show up don’t actually contain the letter z

7:45 PM
@EkadhSingh-ReinstateMonica here: i.imgur.com/3FsF3X2.png
"vote-to-close" and "edit-badges" don't have "z". Synonyms, perhaps?
OK, "close-votes-queue-size" is a synonym for "close-vote" and "organizer-badge" is a synonym of "edit-badges". So, this might be the reason.

9:26 PM
@EkadhSingh-ReinstateMonica why did you bounty that question about the Qban?

9:47 PM
why not

10:13 PM
@KevinB cause there is not really something you can acomplish by drawin more attention to that. As staff has already acted on it. Best course of action would be a new post asking staff to reconsider their earlier decission

10:25 PM
I got a very sudden increase of around 90 rep on Freelancing, which does put me in a position where I can nominate (as it seems the nomination period was extended), but considering how quickly it came in I'm hesitant to do so without letting the serial voting script run against it first.

@Spevacus you could also try to ping JNat to ask them to look into it
But there are 6 days left to nominate, so that seems no problem

Mhmm. I dunno, I'm sure I'm just overthinking it, but considering the prior situation, I'd like to "come correct," if that makes sense.

Looks like 2 people drove by and upvoted all your posts
@Spevacus totally makes sense

10:53 PM
@Luuklag On the 0.00000000000000000000001% chance something happens. And cause I was tired when I started the bounty.
