+1 for knowing that my first name, when properly pronounced, has three syllables — Yaakov Ellis ♦ 19 hours ago

Is it just me, or is the @ mention in comments broken? I noticed two recent comments containing @Discretelizard (which is what the pop-up suggests for my username) and no other @ symbols, that do not show up in my inbox. The space in my username may be part of the issue, but that is hardly unique to me.

Did you see them before they had time to show up in your inbox?

@Tinkeringbell I didn't actually see them, but it may have been the case that comment was made while I was reading other parts of the same page, or had it open in another tab. A bit inconvenient that this doesn't show up in the inbox, though. I only actually saw one comment made yesterday today purely by chance.

8:11 AM
Yeah. Btw the only times I actually saw this happen was when I had replied before things showed up in my inbox, because I was getting quick responses (almost like chat). So I think even just reading a different part of the page or having a tab open should still give a notification.

I don't get many notifications, the last comment notification I can find is from June 12th...

8:21 AM
I did get a comment notification on MSO from the last 24 hours. This one to be exact. Maybe there is/ you spot something special / different between that post / comment and yours @Discretelizard

@rene This an example of one that didn't get to my inbox. I see two differences, the @ mention is not at the start of the post and the username has two parts, but either should not be an issue, I believe.

@Discretelizard Did you have a now deleted comment there, or an edit, that would make pinging you possible?

@Tinkeringbell Comment is not edited, I made no comments there. There is a deleted comment from the same user as that comment, but that one made no @ mentions.

You won't get any notification if you don't meet the criteria outlined in the first section here

that ^

8:32 AM
So that probably explains why that one didn't end up in your inbox: They couldn't ping you on that question.

Ah, yes of course. I forgot that one.
Thanks.

You're welcome :)

@Tinkeringbell You've had 5 since the 12th @discretelizard, your comment notifications are also available on your profile; ones from chat work differently from site pings.

Here you are, @Mithical. Now you have one actual reply that follows the "The post must be a regular Meta.SE post - bug report, feature request, any type of answer - but answers to this question do not count on their own." rule. ^_^

@Rob No, those are ones I made, not ones I received :)

Rob
Ah, I believe those are hidden; at least without knowing who the sender is, and checking their profile.
In that case, looking from the other side, we can see it was sent in the other profile; but he didn't meet the receiver criteria in any event.

10:10 AM
@Mithical sorry, didn't notice the time window additional requirement. Please disregard the previous message.

@YaakovEllis Since I have requested to merge this account with my other account located Here, I have added a message about the requested operation to both profiles. If the staff needs further proof that I own both accounts, fell free to contact me via mail.

I'd love to see a bunch of Dutch people try to get their customer service in English.

@LinkBerest you mean the nikkud or just the letters?

made an edit to the A51 site faq: meta.stackexchange.com/a/76978/158100 wrt international / non-english sites. Anyone who wants to double check that first sentence for me.

@rene Boring Friday at work? :P

Trying to make the weekend come faster.

Well, I wouldn't object to that, but only if it means weekend itself won't go faster!

What did you set on fire this time?

@Tinkeringbell No, this was duped but that advice in the FAQ is useless in their context. A bit sad if they go through all those steps only to find that their effort is useless.

Ahhh.

@Tinkeringbell and I'm bug hunting serialization errors so, no I'm not bored yet.

Ugh.
I just tested some coworkers code... and I can confirm his commit fixed it (but introduced another out of bounds stacktrace). The commit he did after that though... that breaks it again XD
I think I might call it a day. :)

lol. I assume the architecture is stateless ... everything is ...

Nah, not even...
Just lots of stacktraces XD

I coin the term StackTrace Architecture

I like it :)

Feel free to use it. You'll impress other Software Architects

Hahaha. I'll stay clear for architecting anything for a few years.
Comes with too many meetings.

Too bad actually, I missed my window of opportunity to play that song!

We found that when you find that the top link is purple—that is, already clicked—52% of you think, “Hello, old friend.” But another 14% see that purple link with irritation and another 16% see it with amusement. There are basically two things going on here: navigational search and memory imperfections. This article will explore some of the research around both of them.

@rene It also doesn't indicate anything about the new requirement for an existing community. (There have been quite a few recent proposals closed for failing to properly indicate it.)
@rene Computer architectures aren't supposed to have a nationality

true that

- Take care, young ladies, and value your wine.
Be watchful of young men in their velvet prime.
Deeply they'll swallow from your finest kegs,
Then swiftly be gone, leaving purple links.
Ahh-ah-ah-ah, purple links.

What's kegs supposed to rhyme with?

@SmokeDetector While much of this is a copy from pages displayed by SE, there is enough that's unique to the question such that it looks like it might be an actual question asking a question related to the quoted (but not in a quote block) material.

@Daniil The event was created back in 2010 to test out the event scheduling feature. It's stuck since.
