@JNat @Yaakov @Nick hey calling the big guns, the troll started to threaten. Can any of you take actions? Thanks.
troll threatening ^
@rene better not feed it...

yeah, and gone

Nah
He'll post more.

I'll mod message

Thanks.
Going to make schnitzels, cya!

@ShadowKeepsSocialDistance why would you ping 2 devs about this, though? :)

9:55 AM
@JNat better tools to track the user, maybe block other accounts they're using.
Or do you all have same tools?
Also, panic. ;)

PANIC!

I value my mac address + Ip and don't want them to be stolen...

wait ...
I only value my big mac

I think reporting to Smokey is the best way to get spam flavored threats removed.

@rene nothing to do with spam. I have a feeling it's a long time troll who already posted highly offensive stuff before, and threats, and more, that's why I wanted it to be checked. Might be wrong of course, i.e. maybe it's just the ordinary frustrated user who never trolled/threatened before, no way to know for sure.

@ShadowKeepsSocialDistance trolls kinda do it for the attention
so the best thing is just to flag. I'm sure enough people will, and we can handle the suspensions later if needed

2:18 PM
@JourneymanGeek let's hope it ends there, and the person won't spawn more accounts.
And on happier note, I just ordered these...
Previous shoes survived ~10 years...

"shoes"

So how is it called? ;)

flipflops?

slippers. flipflops, hawaii slippers, chappals....

Well my favorite translator say it's "open-backed clog or sandal". :D
Let's see Google Translate...
Slippers!
But it's not slippery.

Flipflops.

Flipflops.

sounds like a song:
It flips
It flops
It flip flops ♪♫
@Mithical prove ;)
@Tink @Journeyman how much it cost at your place? Here it's usually around $25, found these in about half.

@ShadowKeepsSocialDistance depends
but I think I have a 4 SGD pair in my army pack :D

2:26 PM
@JourneymanGeek SGD?
Slippery Goat Detector?

singapore dollars

oh lol
How much is it in USD?

Well we sometimes get free pair in hotels or spa, which survives about a week, best case. ;)
Google Translate is not... symmetric.
@JourneymanGeek you know what? Now that you mention this, I also might have a pair in my army pack... but since I finished my service for good (won't be called even during war), the pack is.... buried, somewhere. Too lazy to go look for it. :D

@ShadowKeepsSocialDistance I'd be surprised if they didn't contain basically the same things

2:30 PM
It contains two sets of uniform, army shoes, army belt, some army socks, the slippers/flipflops, solid soap bar, probably few bullets.... and maybe some very old chocolate bars. :-P
My last use of this pack was... ugh.... at least two years ago.

@ShadowKeepsSocialDistance Depends, indeed. Fancy ones can be 60 euros, cheap ones 3 ;)

@Journeyman when did you use yours? When will you use it again?

@Tinkeringbell 60 euro??? Wow

@ShadowKeepsSocialDistance "use",,,,
uhhhhh

Covered in gold? @Tink

I just have it for when we have recalls

so pretty much "ok, I have ALLL the things in the list"

@JourneymanGeek well, called for army service

60 or 3 euro, you still brake your neck when walking with those things ...

@JourneymanGeek oh, and how often you have it?

@ShadowKeepsSocialDistance at most annually. In theory

@rene nah, I don't use it outside, just at home or at sea.
@JourneymanGeek nice, same here.
There were times I was called three times in one year, and times I wasn't called for three years.

@ShadowKeepsSocialDistance schuurman-schoenen.nl/slippers/teenslippers/… < Snakeskin :P

@Tinkeringbell eww

@rene Try riding a bike....
The Eritrean refugees across the street started out like that... o.O

@ShadowKeepsSocialDistance an older iteration had running shoes
so I bought the smaller size I could

@Mithical oh wow.... that's a big loss. Anything that can be done in SE in such situations? Maybe ask the roommate to edit his profile?

@ShadowKeepsSocialDistance there's actually a meta question on that I think...

@JourneymanGeek there was a feature request asking to be able to mark such accounts, don't remember much more.

Q: How should a user's death be handled?

Chas. OwensIt is a bit of a morbid concept, but having recently had a friend die unexpectedly and having to deal with the online repercussions of this event has gotten me to thinking about what should happen to my accounts when I kick the bucket. I haven't had any great insights yet, but here are some thin...

I'd count Jaydle's answer as canonical

@JourneymanGeek yeah that's the one I remembered.
@Mith does Twitter allow such things? I'd gather they do have more proper channels to report death. Or not?

no idea

Well, one thing is missing for long time here, that's for sure.
!!/coffee at long last

@ShadowKeepsSocialDistance brews a cup of Latte for @at

2:43 PM
@ShadowKeepsSocialDistance I need to plan for that ._.

@JourneymanGeek for coffee?

So much of my life is online, that dropping dead would be messy.

@JourneymanGeek depends how you die
:P

Clearly of a monitor dropping on my head

lol
Poor monitor!

in Root Access on The Stack Exchange Network Chat, Aug 15 '19 at 1:47, by Journeyman Geek
I WILL REMIND YOU SIR THAT DEATH BY FALLING MONITOR IS THE ONLY OFFICIALLY ALLOWED WAY ON THIS CHANNEL TO HURT ONESELF.

I miss that idiot.

Well there are apps and sites that let you send "post death" messages, and perform all kinds of online actions. They all depend on you sending "life signal" to let them know you're still alive.

(User who dropped off the face of the earth. Was interesting...)
@ShadowKeepsSocialDistance oh. More logins and so on...
Most important stuff's on google accounts

@JourneymanGeek nah, doubt they require login, more likely it's automated when you use the computer/phone.
And email verification after few days, etc.

2:47 PM
@ShadowKeepsSocialDistance oh say my SE logins, letting folks know I'm post-vivous...

@JourneymanGeek oh, yeah.

For now for example, It would be nice to know the RA offshoot know
if I'm still a mod, it would be really nice to not just vanish and let people wonder. There's not many people who'd know

@JourneymanGeek yeah. One thing for sure, you will be missed....

@ShadowKeepsSocialDistance I do realise that :D
that's why its important that we do it right
ANd well
The interesction of "people I trust with my passwords" and "are tech savvy" is tiny :D

You could make a digital will... I got a form from the burial insurance that let me do just that: Fill in which sites/communities should be notified if I die, how to access them, password manager passwords, etc...

@Tinkeringbell ah, my browser is my password manager
and uh
there's some things that needs compartmentalisation :D
lest I give my parents a heart attack :D

You can make several ;)

and a few people who need to know I lost contact with

well, it did read that way
I still have the roomba link in my clipboard when I saw your comment

No, it doesn't really ask about deletion.

okay then

@rene ty
But I agree with @Catija it should be migrated to MSO

The roomba post is about closed questions, and this doesn't seem to be asking about things that are closed. :)

Node.js creator, Ryan Dahl, left the Node.js project in 2012 and started working with it again around six years later. In using it again, he found a number of design flaws that bothered him. So he decided to create a new implementation of his original idea: Deno, which released V1.0.0 last week.

I blinked and that post was migrated before my eyes.
That was disorienting.

Unfortunately, the .Net mobile push library we use hasn't been actively maintained since mid-2016, a little before Apple announced the feature. So far, it's been more effective to have someone spend a couple hours a year renewing the certificate than spend the time to invest in a new library. — Brian Nickel ♦ 12 mins ago
