@YaakovEllis I remember you were once asking me why the specific Roomba criterion under which a question was deleted should be shown in the deletion notice. (It was in a comment on one of my answers to the new post notices question; as that is historically locked, I can't respond there.)

You might think that this was resolved by making the timeline link public, and noting the reason there, but while that resolves it in most cases, it doesn't in all cases.
1. All users can see posts that they reviewed in the review queues, even if they don't have 10k+ reputation (only through the review UI, not the direct link). I was just going through my prior reviews on a site where I have <10k rep and came across one that was deleted by Community, but I couldn't tell why it was automatically removed. (The link to the timeline 404s, since it's a separate link from review.)
2. Users with <10k reputation can view answers they wrote to deleted questions, along with the question it was answering. Previously, such users could see why exactly the question was deleted, but now they can't, since the link to the question timeline 404s.
3. The previous notice, in addition to containing the specific criterion, would also include a note saying it was Roomba'd along with a link to the relevant help center article. This makes it clear to new users that their question was removed simply for inactivity and not because it was bad per se. Not having this present in the new notice can make them mistakenly believe that it was because something was wrong with their question or that the system glitched up or something.
Since the answer is still outstanding (hasn't been given a status), I'm giving this info to you here, instead of as comments there since that post is locked. If you prefer a new question for it, please let me know.

hey folks you probably know about the folding@home project, what do you think about pushing a network ad for it on both SE and SO sites? I think this would be a cool thing to do at this time
SO company could be interested in leading this for a PR boost too
@YaakovEllis cc ^

@user1306322 Over the past couple weeks, there's been a sudden influx of new users there that a lot of people have simply not been receiving work units, so their computers are simply running idle.

hope y'all are staying at home and working remotely

I don't think they'll appreciate yet another influx until they've completed upgrading their hardware (which they're in the process of doing).

@SonictheAnonymousHedgehog Linus media group announced they're working with the F@H team to expand their hardware capacity to accept more completed workload from users

5:12 AM
morning
instead of working remotely, they have us working shifts to lessen exposure now. Nothing like starting 5am sharp in the morning as a software developer

3 hours later…
7:55 AM
@Magisch Hi! I was a bit worried about how you were doing. Poor Angela at home and you can only go by at most 2 people. I expect the same will be announced here this week.

...today's challenge: read, understand, and summarize a research paper on iron deficiency for... a sports instructor course.

Summary: when you're deficient on iron, stuff don't work good.

8:28 AM
@rene I'm personally not particularly at risk. If I get it, the vast likelihood will be that it'll hit like a cold.
just busy in this time, last week I had the week off besides tuesday, but was still busy

Okay, good to hear.

in The Awkward Silence on The Stack Exchange Network Chat, Mar 16 at 12:43, by avazula
We talked with health ministry this morning, apparently it hurts people of all ages and is stronger than we thought. Please be very careful people.
^ Thought you'd like to know ...

I mean, I'm observing all the rules that have been released or recommended so far

@Magisch Are you quarantined too in Germany?

the problem is just I still have to grocery shop (where people cough on me with wanton abandon) and go to work
I'm 99% sure I'll catch it sooner rather then later from someone at the grocery store who does not like to cough into their elbow instead of directly on the person in front of them

@Magisch I've had some luck with going shopping very early, at least on workdays it was pretty empty at 7:30, and people kept their distance at the checkout

I start at 5am for the foreseeable future, and the grocer does not open before 7. On Saturday I was there at 7.20 and it was full

9:02 AM
@avazula While I've seen people as young as 15 on the intensive care, nobody under 60 died yet from it.
At least, nationally.

@Mast Good to hear. It's 50/50 here.

on saturday it didn't work, was somewhat full for me as well

I heard news this morning that a 21 year old with an autoimmune disorder died of corona in britain

@Magisch With disorders like that, you're high-risk regardless of age.
People with dysfunctional lungs got to watch out extra.

idk, it's definitely a lot more serious then say a flu, but there's not really a way for me to avoid getting it eventually
wfh is not on the table for me since I'm technically a fill-in sysadmin too, so I gotta work shifts at the office instead

9:05 AM
Most of my colleagues work from home. I don't, but I got the floor for myself. So I'm technically still working in isolation.

@Magisch ouch
our office is completely closed from tomorrow
including the call centre
they got everyone working from home.

9:23 AM
@djsmiley2kTMW how many people?
Saw today in our local media article about Germany, where young people make "Corona parties".... o_O
Here many people aren't obedient too and go outside, but not in such extreme.
And there are more and more who believe our PM is using the situation to start a dictatorship. :/

9:48 AM
@ShadowWizardisEarForYou Amsterdam 2 days ago. Note the bloody obvious warning sign stating to keep 1,5m distance.
Amsterdamse Bos, note that most of Amsterdam doesn't look that green.

@ShadowWizardisEarForYou let's be fair. It wouldn't be the first time :(

@ShadowWizardisEarForYou yes, that happened
also, stuff like #boomerremover trending and the corona challenge on social media is rather cancerous

@ShadowWizardisEarForYou ~300odd

Let me guess: those Corona parties ignore quarantine and go about infecting everyone else afterwards?

I mean the "corona challenge (now banned by tik tok)" is literally attempting to get corona by any means possibly and then coughing on old people
sounds rather like premeditated murder then prank to me, but what do I know

9:59 AM
A good lawyer could be able to knock it down to negligence?

@Magisch People got arrested for coughing on police officers here and yelling they got corona.
@JohnDvorak We'll see. There's definitely a case for premeditation here.

@Mast That's... uuuh how do I say this... sick.

@Gimby Some people are beyond stupid. Normally they just don't hit the news.

@JohnDvorak first time for what?

there's a lot of line between stupid and intentionally trying to kill someone with an infectious disease

10:01 AM
@Mast leglly could do them for inciting panic, public disorder, assult of a officer, so many things

one guy in Czechia stated he got corona and that he was licking bread rolls in shops. Now he's faced with public endangerment during an emergency = 8 years in jail.

come on

This time he appears to make actual steps towards it, e.g. closing the Knesset down and making all the decisions alone.

someone got arressted for licking the poles on a bus.

@djsmiley2kTMW Oh yes, the people trying that on officers are going to be in much trouble.

10:02 AM
@JohnDvorak hope it will be 80 years... let the creep rot in jail.

so many idiots who don't realise the effects f their actions

@JohnDvorak there is no middle finger big enough

mosty boyed on by 'lol views!'

TBF he was most likely lying about it

Oh, most are.

10:02 AM
@djsmiley2kTMW oh wow... nice.

Still inciting panic.

@ShadowWizardisEarForYou the first time in German history of a rando becoming a dictator during a crisis.

@JohnDvorak I don't think Shadow is in Germany...

ah.. I misread

Quite the opposite.

10:04 AM
@JohnDvorak didn't check the details, my guess is that it's just big parties on the verge of orgies, where they're all well aware they can get infected. Doubt they go out on purpose afterward and try to infect others, that's a different level.
They just rebel against the quarantine, from what I understand.

You just can't quarantine natural selection.

@Mast opposite in what way? Israel is unofficial part of Europe in many things... ;)

I don't mean "intent to infect everyone around", just "get infected to get over with it, and then live as if the pandemic didn't exist while still infectious"

(sports, singing, etc.)

@ShadowWizardisEarForYou It seems wrong to call Israel part of Germany.

10:07 AM
@JohnDvorak more like it, yes. Still, they don't try to get infected, just don't care if they will.
Reminds me of... unprotected sex.... sorry for the language.

If you want to throw a Corona party, do it on-line and drink beer. Now nobody gets hurt.

Just lack of basic responsibility.

just yesterday our chancellor went on a tangent about how she wants us to be more inquisitive and resistant to orders abridging human rights

Then it's not a real pox party if you don't intent to get infected

while announcing said orders :p

10:08 AM
@Mast oh, yeah... :)
@JohnDvorak guess they can bring a confirmed infected person and have that person cough on all the participants, yeah.
That would be a real Corona party.
@Magisch and now she's in home quarantine.

indeed

@Magisch common sense though... means you need less of those rules

I dont really like merkel (too conservative for me) but at least she's competent and not a wannabe dictator

@JohnDvorak true, luckily our PM isn't sadistic, he just got addicted to power.

can do a lot worse then "legitimate disagreements about specific policies but otherwise competent" for a country leader these days

10:11 AM
@Magisch Same with Rutte. I wouldn't vote for him or his party, but given the alternatives and the current situation we could've done a lot worse.

I'm actually impressed with our goverment atm, even tho I don't agree with any of their policies etc, I think they're doing it 'right' here - as in doing what so far is working
if we tried to go into overnight lockdown like italy, I think we'd have had riots etc
but by doing it day by day, people are ust bored of it already and accept whatever happens
]

Czechia started by closing down shops.

1. close schools so parents need to be at home more
2. close pubs, because parents are knackered anyway
3. close everything other than supermarkets, because by this time most have already closed anyway..

Hardware stores are still open here, I suspect they're the next to go.
They're getting too popular.

Restaurants can still work remote ... and are already crying for customers

10:16 AM
Another pros for quarantine: At home you don't have to wear mask. Wearing mask you will quickly find out what kind of bad breath you have after drinking coffee. Stay safe, stay home.

not just after drinking coffee.

I have been wondering how food delivery services are doing... on the one hand I can imagine that they are very busy because restaurants are closed... but on the other hand I can see why people would not order out right now for fear of their food being sneezed on.

@JohnDvorak Some of the restaurants here went remote (food delivery), but not nearly all of them. Food delivery services are doing well, though not nearly all of them are following procedure.

That's right... better touch a shopping cart that's been touched by 10000 people before you, than buy a pizza that's in a box that's been touched once.

@Gimby people are so irrational. The chances of being sneezed on, are lower than ever.
Any takeaway is going to be petrified of someone claiming their food infected them
@Mast all the wfh'ers doing DIY? :D

10:21 AM
@djsmiley2kTMW Also that, but that is going to be really hard to prove :)

don't know how trustworthy it is, but this is rather harrowing: propublica.org/article/…

@Mast It already began in some degree
the airports closed about the 18th, even in smaller cities

10:40 AM
pizzas are expensive af compared to normal food though

Chinese food then?

idk what kind of pizza you eat but you can get a full meal replacing pizza for 4€ here

10:56 AM
@Magisch Those would be 9-12 here.
If they're delivered.
Full meal replacing pizzas aren't sold here in supermarket.
Those that come closest are 3 bucks or so, 2 of them would do it.

@Magisch I eat a baguette with eggs for lunch, cost 20 NIS (5.07 euro)

Right...
Somebody mark the last 2 as correct flags please. The one above on anime.SE is simply a stupid question, not necessarily a flaggable answer although I understand why it picked it up...
Ordinarily, that would be a correct flag.

Rob
11:15 AM
The U$4 pizza

that'd be like £10 take away in the uk
maybe 8

@Mast k
@Rob fpu
Here such pizza costs 50-80 NIS ($13-$20)
Most food companies have excuses like "keeping the food Kosher costs tons of money".
So most things cost double and triple than anywhere else in the world.

That would be called a "pizza bread roll" where I live.

that looks like one soft of the drivel the workplace's troll barfs out

@JohnDvorak why, because it's thick?
@DanisFiddlingbyFirelight ??

11:28 AM
Because it's so small

@JohnDvorak looks big
Oh wait... is it a mini pizza?? Those are cheap indeed, even here.

Either that, or somebody's been playing with tilt shift camera and oversized ingredients

@Rob crusty crab pizza, is the pizza
for you and me

one of the rounds of blather was psuedorandom drivel that tried to imitate a drunken reply

Rob
@ShadowWizardisEarForYou It's possible to pay 5-12, depending on how loaded it is and where you order from; plus they'll order two or more to get a deal on the extra pizzas and cheap out on the tip: cicis.com littlecaesars.com/en-us/order/pickup/stores/1229/menu

11:34 AM
@DanisFiddlingbyFirelight I.... have no idea what you talk about. :/
Any context?
@Rob I see

Rob
2-3x prices isn't good unless it's matched by the wages

@Rob it's not.
So those who can buy it, those who can't... don't buy.
Basic food is still cheap-ish. (Bread, milk, etc.)
Not sure about rice, 1kg costs here around $3 is it considered cheap? @Rob

Rob
@ShadowWizardisEarForYou Offer to charge money to explain that you don't like to be ripped off, it's a rip off to have to explain it for free; to someone not smart enough to know that.

@ShadowWizardisEarForYou for the last month or so the workplace has been under periodic attack by a troll who keeps slipping through SE's attempts to block malicious users.
all the march meta posts about trolling are about it: workplace.meta.stackexchange.com/questions/tagged/trolling

@DanisFiddlingbyFirelight oh, I see. Still can't make sense of your first message here today though.
@DanisFiddlingbyFirelight at least he (?) gives you something to do... ;)
But best weapon against such trolls is to ignore them.
So each such meta post just throw more flames into his engine.

Rob
11:48 AM
@ShadowWizardisEarForYou That's about the same price for rice as here, but that's because it's fancy rice in a puny box with colorful packaging. If you buy a 8-10 kg ugly sack of rice then the fancy stuff about 2/kg.

@Rob yeah, same here. Big sack makes it cheaper.
1kg of rice lasts for almost a month for me, so no point to buy more than one at a time.

Rob
4-6 months for me, plus I use da sticks so that makes it no faster to get through.

@Rob well, I make it for 5 people, so I win. ;)
Which reminds me, @YaakovEllis long time no hear.... are you OK? Hope you're not in חל"ת?

Rob
For me, I'm lucky it doesn't go bad (expire).

Uhm
Apparently I am on a 2 week leave of absence

11:59 AM
o_O
i.e. not paid?

@JourneymanGeek From your job or SE?
Sucks either way.

Rob
Worse is that when they want you back you'll have to come right away, and work extra hard to catch up on everything.

@Rob rice?? It can last for years, no?

Rob
Probably, sometimes I find an old box that's at least that old.

@JourneymanGeek whole place closed? Or do they just let go of non-essential employees?
@Rob for no extra money... :/
@Rob ouch lol

Rob
12:14 PM
and overtime paid at regular time rates.

:(
Still, there are worse cases.
Whole companies going down.

Rob
and you must hold your own cheeks!

?
I don't hold any cheeks.
(Neither my own nor of others ;))

Rob
That means they don't want to hear you complain

Rob
12:16 PM
;)

Rob
!

Isn't it "hold your tongue"?
Also, one of the Corona restrictions is to not touch your face, so we're forbidden anyway from holding our cheeks. :D

the happy sunny spring day we have right now is a stark contrast to the super oppressive atmosphere at work

Rob
Butt someone else's is OK?

12:18 PM
everyone is distancing and uneasy, people dislike shift work, and there is a constant fear of impeding layoffs

@Magisch why? I gather people at work would be happier, as they're still "free" and keeping some known routine.

we're not allowed to pet the office dog anymore

@Rob if you have 2 meter hands then yes. ;)

seeing him wanting to be petted and looking at you like it's a betrayal that you can't pet him is cruel and unusual torture

@Magisch that must be the worst part.... :(

Rob
12:22 PM
@ShadowWizardisEarForYou It would depend upon the office layout:
A cubicle is a partially enclosed office workspace that is separated from neighboring workspaces by partitions that are usually 5–6 feet (1.5–1.8 m) tall. Its purpose is to isolate office workers and managers from the sights and noises of an open workspace so that they may concentrate with fewer distractions. Cubicles are composed of modular elements such as walls, work surfaces, overhead bins, drawers, and shelving, which can be configured depending on the user's needs. Installation is generally performed by trained personnel, although some cubicles allow configuration changes to be performed...

@Rob just being at work is enough for me.

@ShadowWizardisEarForYou no just me
Cause I came back from indua

are you getting paid at least for the leave time?

@djsmiley2kTMW not actually sure

@JourneymanGeek 2 weeks self isolation?

12:26 PM
I found out while at work
....

...
Welp

@JourneymanGeek oh.... yeah, here it's automatic self quarantine of two weeks for anyone getting back from any other country.

bit late then

same situation as my coworker then, although he is getting paid for all of it

Rob
12:26 PM
@ShadowWizardisEarForYou If you have a fishbowl layout you're safer:

upon returning from his ski trip in austria last week he was asked to stay home for 2 weeks

@Rob At least he's stocked-up on cough syrup.

@djsmiley2kTMW shrug
Probably will be paid. Might need to cover for co workers

Q: Why the obsession with accounts and "who" instead of focusing on the information?

@Mast Yeah, I don't know what that is, if that's supposed to be a person on the bottle they look pretty green. 🤮
@M.A.R. I made a comment, but it was deleted; along with others.

@Rob okay

@Rob Suspect Jagermeister, not sure.

@Mast I'm sure, 100% match:

I guess Jaegermeister works as cough syrup :)

@Gimby It's good for 2 things. Cough syrup and getting drunk.

12:47 PM
And making the Corona virus drunk.

Considering how many cases we got after carnival, corona doesn't seem to be impaired by alcohol.

Rob
@Mast It seems a good guess, but why so many bottles; and in the sunlight. They'd need to be sample bottles at the sales office.

@Rob People do stupid things with alcohol.
But yes, it could be a sales office at JM itself.

@ShadowWizardisEarForYou oh. I was reacting to a bit of garbage smoke detector flagged. chat.meta.stackexchange.com/transcript/message/8293157#8293157

Rob
Like light their drink on fire, thus wasting alcohol

12:58 PM
Some even spread alcohol over various surfaces, thinking it will prevent them from getting sick.

@Rob is it me, or in that photo do those bottles looks really 2D?

Rob
I guess they are flat bottles, like Mickeys.

@djsmiley2kTMW They are relatively flat.

@Mast Oh I'm familuar with the bottles, but still, these could almost be a window sign or something

@djsmiley2kTMW I think that's the camera screwing up.

1:05 PM
yeah

Is that last smokey spam? If so, they did it in a very roundabout way.
^^ Troll.

Rob
In the original image the fourth bottle is clearly closer than the others, and I can see that it's not "flat"; not like the cards to the left of the bottles.

Lighting is partially to blame here.

Rob
They are reluctant to light their alcohol

1:20 PM
@Rob interesting, looks like an overlook, can't find the image in its supposed source site... :/

Rob
1:54 PM
@ShadowWizardisEarForYou That exact same image is present at a half dozen places on the Internet according to Google, and two by tineye. At the site you are visiting it's top of the page at the URL you provided (in the slider). See: metro-wall.com/wp-content/uploads/homepage-slider-4.jpg

You lot are overanalysing it.

People on the internet overanalysing? nooooooo, that never happens :)

Rob
Clearly, that is better.

@Rob Absolut(ely)

Like a lot of you, I’m pretty glued to the news these days, trying to balance unease with calm realism. In trying times like these, we look for resources for critical information and ways to help people less fortunate than us. That’s the good news; the better angels of our nature see difficult situations—fires in…

@JourneymanGeek .-.
@Feeds this should be in Italian
> Johns Hopkins Coronavirus Resource Center

@M.A.R. uhhh?

I could swear that was John Hopkins
@JourneymanGeek Italy is not faring well

Johns Hopkins University is a private research university in Baltimore, Maryland. Founded in 1876, the university was named for its first benefactor, the American entrepreneur, abolitionist, and philanthropist Johns Hopkins. His $7 million bequest (approximately $147.5 million in today's dollars)—of which half financed the establishment of Johns Hopkins Hospital—was the largest philanthropic gift in the history of the United States up to that time. Daniel Coit Gilman, who was inaugurated as the institution's first president on February 22, 1876, led the university to revolutionize higher education...
@M.A.R. it is not

2:25 PM
@JourneymanGeek yeah, figured out
shrug I don't even find the patience to open my legit emails
You can think of emails as endless runner games
You're gonna lose and fall behind some time, and then leave a heap of unread emails
The perfect Sisyphean task
Zeus probably asked him to reply to new year emails and messages he'd get every year, but that was too brutal so the folklore lessened the punishment
Or maybe it was to debunk every coronavirus myth out there

@M.A.R. I'm still in the game, 20 years.

@bjb568 That's the guy with a thousand elevator keys, right?
I've watched too much DefCon...

5:34 PM
@bjb568 That guy (Deviant Ollam) has some amazing videos, they're great watching and super interesting even if you're not into security: youtube.com/user/DeviantOllam
He has an amazing video somewhere about breaking into places by taking photos of people's keys

6:19 PM
@Rob The math doesn't work like that. Cases where the patient survived are under-represented in the overall count, so it over-states the death rate. (Calculating from the death rate and the recovery rate also doesn't work until the pandemic is over, because it's much faster to declare someone dead than to declare them recovered.)

@Mark aye, selection bias

I could swear this was already reported. Twice.
But I could swear lots of things

Probably the most accurate way to calculate the death rate right now is to pick a group of people in South Korea who tested positive and track them until everyone has either died or recovered.

Rob
@Mark The people who have been cremated will be especially happy about that news.

@Mark Hopefully they're already doing it by now; they're Koreans
@Rob I could respond with a dozen quotes to that, all starting with "the dead", but all of them are cliched

@Rob No, just lying
I'd refuse to believe they'd be good at anything that became popular after 1850.
@Rob Yeah seen that one
@Rob yet everyone was very comfortable with saying Iran is intentionally lying when we had a dozen deaths and two dozen cases.

This whole thing is too riddled with irrelevant for the leaders to make the right decisions
@Rob Yeah, seen that video linked an awful lot, never once clicked on it
