@ShadowWizardisEarForYou No such command 'cure'.

:(

@ShadowWizardisEarForYou brews a cup of Affogato for @g3rv4

@ShadowWizardisEarForYou brews a cup of passionfruit tea for @Shree

8:35 AM
:)

That was an adventure
I'm home :D

And now you have to stay home?
In 6 to 8 days you beg for being able to leave the house

well I've got the cough.

Oh ... that is ... scary.

8:42 AM
@JourneymanGeek how??
@djsmiley2kTMW might be just a cough...

@ShadowWizardisEarForYou cept my wife almost deffo has it
only not deffo as we can't get tested

@djsmiley2kTMW can't you ask to be tested?

Weird.... so who get tested?? I mean, the numbers keep going up...

@ShadowWizardisEarForYou took the literal last flight out

8:50 AM
@ShadowWizardisEarForYou People in hospitals mostly, I believe.

Basically had my flight cancelled twice and managed to book a ticket on another airline

@ShadowWizardisEarForYou they're testing all people in hospitals yes.

@djsmiley2kTMW oh, I see. Here we have this.

we have that 'somewhere'
but i think either it's overwhelmed

@Gimby so can't your wife get to a hospital?

8:52 AM
or only offered to locals
@ShadowWizardisEarForYou turning up at a hospital, with Corona
qwould be very unwelcome right now

@ShadowWizardisEarForYou I think you're mixing me up with someone else :)

@djsmiley2kTMW well... there must be a way to help those with the virus... :/

the best thing to do is stay at home and wait

@Gimby oh, lol... yeah you're not @djsmiley ;)

if you can't cope, then you call and you get told what to do.

8:54 AM
@ShadowWizardisEarForYou if you have a mild case, the best thing to do is to quarantine yourself

it's a virus, antibiotics don't work
So you can only treat the symtoms

Sounds reasonable, yes.
I just imagined people in astronaut suits arriving to your home and taking you to a special facility. :D

:D
if only wer had that

Well they did it here with a 9 y/o kid.

i think you watched E.T. too many times :)

8:55 AM
@ShadowWizardisEarForYou not enough astronauts and not enough special facilities

Back when it was still all new.
@MadScientist at this point, very true.
And many of the medical teams themselves got infected by now too.

9:07 AM
Hi, this question was on HNQ and i was surprise to see that answer stats.stackexchange.com/a/454752/276980. May you review it real quick ?

Yeah needs red flag.

9:38 AM
Wack.
Confirmed case of Covid-19 in my tiny town and at least a hundred other people potentially exposed.
And people are still insisting on meeting up. *eyeroll*

Live life on the edge ...

In France, under curfew. Still have to commute to work every day.
My boss/God told us that it was an economical crisis and the best solidarity act we can do was to work and save la france.

10:01 AM
@ShadowWizardisEarForYou Book four events run in parallel to book 5, book 4 was about Cersei and ironmen and the lot of people I don't care about (except Arya, Brienne and now Jamie), so since I'm now at the early chapters of book five, I've gone back in time quite a bit.
@Mithical Let's meet up

@M.A.R. heh, so weird.
@M.A.R. new conspiracy theory: SE created the Corona virus in order to prevent @YaakovEllis from meeting @Mithical and me. :P

No, SE did it so we all buy Final Fantasy VII remake.

10:29 AM
waiting for mask to appear
@M.A.R. you don't wear mask?
@Mith ^
@Mithical on a serious note, you have a curfew now over your place? They said local curfews are already happening where there is virus outbreak. :(
Not that you have anywhere else you need to be in, but looks like now you can't go even if you wanted to...

Rob
🤡

10:46 AM
@ShadowWizardisEarForYou Nah. The mask is to prevent you from spreading it to others, not to avoid getting it. I'm not in contact with anyone really, so...
@ShadowWizardisEarForYou not that I've heard of

1 hour later…
11:55 AM
hm, at least the supermarkets are returning to semi-normal here. The meat and toilet paper was still completely raided but everything else was well-stocked. Even eggs and ginger... I almost cried.

I yelled HAMSTEREN when walking in the AH. Somehow wasn't appreciated ...

@SmokeDetector o/

@g3rv4 \o
@Mithical family?
@Mithical look out the window.... no soldiers or policemen? ;)
@Gimby here toilet paper and meat supply is back to normal, but no eggs for some reason.
@rene ?

@rene Interestingly enough, in Czech, we use susliks to describe the behavior.

@ShadowWizardisEarForYou OH $#!+!

12:10 PM
@ShadowWizardisEarForYou the specific supermarket has a long running ad campaign under the slogan "Hamsteren" which translates to "Hoarding!'".

@Mithical which is precisely why you should wear it. Up to 50% of infected people won't even see any symptoms, but can still spread it.
Especially if in contact with vulnerable groups such as the elderly.
And the mask can protect you as well, it just only makes sense if you're in very close contact with infected people, not if you walk down the street. But if you're going to spend half an hour sitting next to and chatting with someone who is infected, then you should wear a mask for your own protection as well.

@Mithical give them coffee, they'll let you pass.
:D
!!/coffee soldiers outside Mith's house

@ShadowWizardisEarForYou brews a cup of jQuery for @soldiers

@rene oh lol
@terdon yeah, especially younger people.
!!/blame young people

@ShadowWizardisEarForYou It's Dan is Fiddling by Firelight's fault.

12:15 PM
Who?!
lol

@ShadowWizardisEarForYou No, not at all. Younger people are in less risk of developing acute symptoms. There's no data I know of suggesting they're more likely to be asymptomatic if infected, it doesn't necessarily follow.

@terdon well, I was under the impression that since they won't have severe symptoms, they're more likely to ignore it and keep going as usual.

Ah, yes, that makes sense. I just don't know that the young are more likely to have NO symptoms.

Yeah, that's less likely indeed.

@ShadowWizardisEarForYou That's kind of a Richard move, isn't it?

12:20 PM
@JohnDvorak Par Don?

"It's no worse than flu for me, so why care?"

This Richard?
@JohnDvorak oh. Well, yes.

No Richard in particular
... there's actually a guy named Richard Move???
I'm gonna say it. Naming somebody "Dick Move" is a dick move.

@JohnDvorak surely there is

@terdon Well... yeah. But I'm not coming into contact with anybody aside from my immediate family - and even then limited, because I'm barely leaving a room that I've been sitting in by myself. There's a shortage of masks so if I don't really need one... it's counterproductive to use one up.

12:27 PM
True, true.

Here we are legally required to use "nose and mouth protection in public". And actual face masks are in deep shortage, too.

Yeah we even got recommendation to not buy masks so there will be enough left for doctors and medical staff who need it more...

It all depends. For example, my girlfriend came into contact with a probable case last week (close contact). Neither of us has any symptoms but yesterday, I had to go to the store so I wore gloves and a mask, just in case I'm contagious and don't know it. All I'm saying is that from an epidemiological perspective, whenever possible it is best to err on the side of caution.

If only hospitals didn't have the tendency to work at permanent capacity deficit at the best of times...

12:47 PM
@JohnDvorak seems appropriate as well. Any supermarkets that use that animal as their mascot?

not that I know of

ok, who's using smokedector to try and blame me for something?

hides

whatever it is, I'm innocent and have the forged documents to prove it

!!/blame

12:48 PM
@JohnDvorak It's djsmiley2k TMW's fault.

That means they're cast in iron, you troublemakers

on the upshot, covid19.health showing a significant drop in daily cases in the last data point.
Czechia still growing. though the growth seems to be slowing down already

the today datapoint is less than 24 hours of data. it's almost always lower for until close to midnight

ah...
I thought it might have meant there was nobody else to infect in Italy :/

thankfully not the case. If the infection rate is everybody all at once; at best the situation will devolve to burying people unidentified in mass graves

12:55 PM
@rene Ha ha :) Yeah the AH is kicking themselves now for promoting that all those years.

1:06 PM
I'm starting to wonder if the cabin fevers caused by Covid19 could themselves cause some significant damage...

To the cabin? Yes, absolutely.

Interestingly enough, in Czech, we use "submarine disease" as the term for cabin fever. Even though we don't have any sea access (except through Elbe and technically an enclaved city in Germany) or submarines.

Huh. Perhaps it's borrowed fro Russian?

Actually... Wikipedia on Czechia doesn't contain the words "port" or "harbor". Either the lease has ended recently, or I'm misremembering.
Czech Wiktionary doesn't list etymology, and English Wiktionary hasn't heard the phrase at all.

I have no idea. I was just thinking that since there has been significant cultural, and presumably also linguistic exchange between Czechia and Russia over the centuries, perhaps the phrase came from the Red Army or something.

1:19 PM
it's plausible. We're in the same linguistical family and there's been a period of occupation.
Well... it was more of a Soviet Army taking a vacation in Czech Republic...

1:45 PM
@ShadowWizardisEarForYou at home?
Well, folks get out three hours a day (they did, dunno about now) looking for a mask. There'd be much less risk if they spent those three hours at home
But still, going the extra mile for the sake of irony is laudable

I just cycle enough scarves to never wear the same scarf twice within 4 days
about as protective as anything less than an N95, and I don't qualify for an N95

Stack Overflow is a community at our center. And communities come together in times of need. Our normal work routines have been disrupted and may continue to change for a while. We’re all still defining the new “business as usual.” We’re all trying to figure out how to maintain team collaboration when lines of communication…

@Feeds That title couldn't have come at a better time
Part of me thinks they did it deliberately.

2:35 PM
meh
"Coming together as a community to connect" use our teams business tool for free till june so... where's the community in there
just another teams ad feigning to support the community in these tough times.

5:19 PM
anyone else infected yet?

I am not (AFAIK)

5:30 PM
nope

oh trust me once the symtom starts you know
unless you're asymtomatic...

@djsmiley2kTMW is it really different from flu?

I've never heard of flu stopping you being able to breath

5:51 PM
@ShadowWizardisEarForYou gone

Whoever described it as a mild flu was an idiot tbh

@djsmiley2kTMW I'm asthmatic. The common cold stops me from breathing. :|

@Mithical plz don't get this
wife is having to stop every 2-3 bites of dinner, to take a deep breath

@Mithical cheers!
@djsmiley2kTMW ouch. But, sure it's not stress? What doctor says?
@JohnDvorak nah, no peace for those

@JohnDvorak That was, well ... a bit of tasteless :-(

5:54 PM
doctors say 'don't call us'
didn't we go over this yesterday?

@πάνταῥεῖ he means the OT question that is gone.
That's obvious enough. :)
I.... think?
@djsmiley2kTMW short memory
Kids always laugh at me for that
lol

@ShadowWizardisEarForYou I hope he does.

@πάνταῥεῖ well only Mr. Dvorak knows...
Or John.

@YaakovEllis Is it possible that site developers can do more testing with unanswered targets when making changes to the duplicate closing functionality? In many cases, I often see that developers don't consider this and don't test for it, which leads to bugs cropping up. This one was raised just now.
Since choosing unanswered duplicate targets is not allowed on main sites, I can see why this case isn't considered. However, on meta sites, it's perfectly allowed (as well as questions by the same author on main sites, and moderators aren't subject to the rule either).
