I'm kinda getting tired of participating in this question. Would be nice if someone else picked up where I left off.

@SonictheK-DayHedgehog not sure what to pick up? Agree it's not off topic, at least not site specific, so voted to reopen, but it's talking about mods having too much power by not being forced to explain when they close questions. I don't really have anything to say to that, except it's wrong and bad idea, so I downvoted.

7:29 AM
@SonictheK-DayHedgehog fyi, in my time as a mod, whenever there was an ad, we'd be informed via TL that there was a CM opening, if a mod didn't beat the CMs to it

@Shadow10YearsWizard I always forget the image... ;D

Always? You have more?! ;)
Well it's not like I look for those, but when I see burninate request that has been done, I add the image. Classics should be preserved! ;)

I think I might have one more.

Previous time it was @Glorfindel who forgot.... angry glare

We explore the traits that have led to the rising popularity of the Go programming language.

@Feeds my eyes hurt:
No indentation at all.
I really hope that's not how they really write code??
I mean, I can't care less personally, but the fellow programmers who will have to fix the code once it breaks....
Also, looks like `main` is expected to be formatted as code, but it's not.

all that whitespace... I got left-to-right eye-strain ...

Anyway, that's just a mess.

Go has an opinionated formatter built-in, so that very weird as you usually wouldn't find unformatted Go code in the wild

Too bad SE don't have people to review blog posts before they're published.

3:05 PM
this is probably just a mistake when transferring code to the CMS for the blog

It's fine to make mistakes, but it's not fine to publish them to millions of people, when it's easy to avoid it.
Lack of... [complete the sentence].
Maybe coffee?

That's it, blog authors should be fine now. :D

@rene what was it? Looks like comment is already deleted?

@Shadow10YearsWizard it is still there for me: In the question it says: Also the reputation (upvote) is permanently rewarded once 24 hours have been passed
I questioned that

@rene oh, it wasn't highlighted when clicking the link so thought it's deleted comment you tried to point out. Better onebox next...
@rene probably the OP is confused about bounties, which can be awarded after 24 hours, and are permanent: once awarded, it can't be undone.
You can ask them in chat, post is now deleted.
Anyway, looks like new version of Scorched Earth is coming! twitter.com/johanpeitz/status/1323272799193104384 (that person is the creator of Icy Tower... /cc @Tink ;))

yes, Armageddon is near.

Maybe he'll make the tanks jump? :D

>_> You've got plenty of passion already!

For @Ollie? :P

O_o Maybe?

4:04 PM
@Shadow10YearsWizard Heh. Probably the only game I know from them is Icy Tower, and I think I'll keep it that way.

@Shadow10YearsWizard there worse. eg: C code all in a single line, no formatting...

Me: Noooooooooo you can't just downvote my posts for no reason it's toxic!
Community: haha downvote go brrrr

Downvoting is not toxic. It is a content quality control mechanism. It is effective. It is the most misunderstood feature of SE sites. It is highly misrepresented outside SE, specially twitter.

6:07 PM
it was a joke smh

I didn't get that impression, sorry.

6:24 PM
Nothing scarier than jokes about downvotes... but Halloween is over ;)

@Tinkeringbell Yeah, and UK have nov 5th to look forward to ... :/
Guy Fawkes Night, also known as Guy Fawkes Day, Bonfire Night and Fireworks Night, is an annual commemoration observed on 5 November, primarily in the United Kingdom. Its history begins with the events of 5 November 1605 O.S., when Guy Fawkes, a member of the Gunpowder Plot, was arrested while guarding explosives the plotters had placed beneath the House of Lords. Celebrating the fact that King James I had survived the attempt on his life, people lit bonfires around London; and months later, the introduction of the Observance of 5th November Act enforced an annual public day of thanksgiving for...
(illegal) fireworks galore...

@DavidPostill huh? They're illegal!?
They're all over the place!

6:39 PM
@terdon Many are legal but there are lot of illegal chinese imports usually a lot more powerful than the legal ones ...

@DavidPostill Isn't that the case everywere? I know in NL there are police raids almost daily seizing fireworks that are too big/powerfull. A while back they seized some 500kg explosives from a garage in a residential area near me.

@Luuklag yes. but our fireworks day is only a few days away :)

@DavidPostill Ah OK. But if I see fireworks around, they could be legal. I thought you were saying they're all illegal and still used as widely as they are which would have been very surprising in the UK.
I mean hell, most are illegal in Greece as well (firecrackers, no idea about fireworks) but their illegality is ignored by all. Which isn't surprising in Greece but would be in the UK :)

Here, they usually ban all pyrotechnics except on NYE. It seems they won't allow them this NYE either.

@JohnDvorak That wouldn't bee too bad of a decision.

6:51 PM
@JohnDvorak Where are you? I think I remember central Europe...

True. It does have a downside though - last year they canceled official fireworks - and replaced them with a "videoprojection" that was a long self-back-pat and a series of children's drawings that back-patted them too. And not a second of the projection bore any consideration for the shape of what they'd be projecting on.

@JohnDvorak Lets say an A for effort then ;)

If I'd been there I'd've asked for a refund of my tram tickets.
No matter I use yearly coupon. They'd have to cough up all of it.

7:05 PM
meh public transport
I only ever use it when parking fee's are too expensive in the area I need to go to, otherwise it's just a waste of time

I never bothered to get a driving license, assuming a car wouldn't be worth the money.
So far, the assumption has proven correct.

Depends on where you live I guess. Visiting my parents without a car would take about twice as long, and is inpossible on the weekends for example

7:23 PM
fireworks never really seem to be a topic of discussion around here, it's just something that occurs a few times a year

that poor whale

@user400654 yeah. First she misses the jump and falls head first onto concrete and then some idiot parks a train on her.
Shitty day.

Fun thing is that whale is almost entirely plastic
Tomorrow they will evacuate some houses to lift that carriage down
arghhh stupid MS Office. Quitting my excel to auto update without a single prompt :/

8:11 PM
@Luuklag If you have the MSI install version, updates will be handled through Windows Update rather than a separate updater. Too bad Microsoft is trying to push the newfangled click-to-run installer these days...

Rene caught the train.

@Rob express train?

@Feeds 🚽

I'll be going now
Ta!

9:21 PM
@Rob ...are they not fixing this on purpose? This is bumpier than those cars installed with air suspensions :D

we had a "luxury" car with said air suspension, it was.... very different

@user400654 as in, better or?

sold it about a year later

@user400654 guess it wasn't then :)

it was part of a 2 car deal, bought two cars for $3000

9:25 PM
nice deal :o

my car was the bulk of the cost, the other was added on
was a... hell i don't remember what it was
chevy corsica

@user400654 remind me of some cars i seen in movies

good little car, lasted me a few years before we realized someone had poured sugar in the tank

sugar? o-o

apparently the sugar had been there all along, i just never let it get low enough to reach the bottom of the tank
until... i did
was downhill from there

9:27 PM
wow

it was dieing mid-turns
because it would slosh around
for a small car, that thing seemed heavy

@user400654 it's a wonder it lasted so long

after i sold that i drove a little madza truck around, then i bought my sport trac
have had it for ~ 11 years now

I usually go with bike myself, though i did have a car...was like 300 dollar~ (mainly because it didn't had permit, and it would make a noise, like a cat purring when you would use it. You get used to it.) but sold it.

i prefer trucks
i hardly ever haul anything, but i rather be higher off the ground

9:34 PM
@user400654 that's fair. If there more space in it (depending on the models) than most cars, i would probably have one too (if i had the parking space and money required that is)

next one will either be an f150 or a ranger... i'd prefer a ranger, but at what the avg cost is for one, mightaswell go for an f150 atm

offtopic but: did anyone here found it weird when they saw a four wheels bike for the first time? (i admit that i laughed a lot for some reason)
not to mock the driver or anything, but the thought of a four wheels bike made me laugh at the time

what always weirds me out is slingshots, 2 wheels up front one in back

@user400654 yeah, those are weird. Look like a mix of a luxury car and a F1 in one

i can't work out how driving one would feel different than a car
bsides the whole, open to air bit

9:41 PM
@user400654 probably would be a bit weird to move backward in it, or maybe turn around
(since you can sometimes rely on the back wheels a lot when turning around in certain places)
only speculating though

9:52 PM
in a sense i'd expect it to be front heavy, causing the backend to slide on hard turns
but they're generally long enough to avoid most of the hard stop problems of being front heavy
