Is there a way to tell the search box "thanks, I know the search operators, you don't have to show some cryptic misleading hints every time I search"?

To say nothing about the Ask Question button in the drop-down to search box.

Why ask question before searching? If you search and get nothing, this button disappears.

That so-called micro-study is full of holes. It is totally unscientific, it lasted exactly one afternoon. We don't know how many people were in the test group. We don't know how many were non-native speakers. We don't know how motivated these participants were (not very, judging by the dismal results). — Mari-Lou A 1 hour ago

@Mari-LouA I disagree with the assertion that it's bogus. It's a micro-study, not a complete observational study, so one afternoon is OK for it. The number of people in the test group is clearly mentioned. Also, (at the very least for the specific quote I cited here), it doesn't matter if one's English level is high or medium. Finally, it also goes without saying that the study's results aren't to be concluded as fact, but only used to make potential indications. What I'm proposing here is for one of those potential indications to be implemented, to see if it actually makes a difference. — Sonic the Anonymous Hedgehog 8 mins ago

I'm thinking we should have a meta post that hopefully ends up saying that this isn't MSO, that staff still is in charge of what gets featured networkwide, and that they're not keen on taking requests :P
