@Catija in a sense, that's a sign of success
And lol, my geekiest cousin and I were trying to explain the importance of SO to the Indian IT industry in terms of how quickly everything would collapse to his dad

I have a feeling that I have used this username before... apparently, yes I have
though I don't think it's the same reason as before now...

TORRES: Captain, there's a minor glitch in the molecular imaging scanners. Ensign Kim should have it up and running in a few minutes.

KIM: Try narrowing the annular confinement beam.
HOGAN: How's that?

KIM: Let's try it again. Kim to Away team. Sorry for the delay. We're ready to bring you back.

TUVOK: Acknowledged.

KIM: Energise.

HOGAN: There's something wrong, sir. I'm only getting one pattern.

KIM: Tuvok or Neelix?

HOGAN: I don't think it's either of them.

KIM: Abort.

HOGAN: It's too late.

@Mrs.Robinson eh. Getting critical mass is really hard
And tbh, takes a lot of guts to try
I do think the forum/discourse format isn't the best

@Mrs.Robinson :cough: Shhhhhhh
I actually had a meeting about that on Friday.

You're going to create a new Twitter based Q&A platform? ;p

I use Tweetdeck as my primary twitter interface. I keep two columns open: the feed, and Notifications. So I can always see a chronological list of tweets. And always see new notifications. And always have a big area of calming grey to look at when I can't stand either.

@M.A.R.ಠ_ಠ I admit, I laughed

@ShadowWizard well if you think you can do better, it's worth giving it a shot
@ShadowWizard person not people

@JourneymanGeek I don't. Even huge companies with millions of active users try and fail.

Well, step 1. Make a popular blog called Coding Terror
2. Say some cool stuff so everyone is all like "Whoa yeah man, I can relate" when reading

@M.A.R.ಠ_ಠ Whoa, yeah man, I can relate to this!

Now there may be substeps to get these right

Teresa WalkerToday I had a really bad piano lesson. I struggled to read or play notes. All week my practice appeared to go well. So why was I so bad today. Augur is a decentralized prediction market platform built on the Ethereum blockchain that was founded in 2014 by Jack Peterson and Joey Krug with support from the Forecast Foundation, advisors to which included Intrade founder Ron Bernstein and Ethereum founder Vitalik Buterin. After a crowdfunding in August 2015, the project launched in July 2018. Because it is decentralized, Augur allows any user to create a prediction market, unlike betting exchanges like Betfair which only allow betting on questions that are chosen by the site.As of July 2018, the Commodity Futures Trading Commission wa...

Well, I'm now honestly worried about tomorrow's Android.SE election...

I suspect that methods like ToRelativeTimeMicro and its friend ToRelativeTimeMini originated in the SE codebase. Can an SE Dev or someone with access to the codebase share the current (or last .Net Framework) implementation of those methods so I don't have to reinvent all the fixes already applied to them?

user302202
android.stackexchange.com/election tells most of the story. From 400 voters in 2012 down to 304 in 2016, down to 276 in 2018, down to ? in 2019.

Would it be a good idea to exclude users with the association bonus from the IP limit of the 40-minute rate limit?
Meaning they themselves may only ask a question once every 40 minutes, but would not be limited by someone else posting a question from a shared network.

@SonictheIntrovertedHedgehog That sounds like it's just asking for puppetry.

@Mithrandir We wouldn't publicly disclose this fact at all in the help pages.

...."we".
Anyway... meh.
40 minutes isn't a long time. They can wait.

@Mithrandir The limit is network-wide, so someone else asking a question on a different site would also limit them.
Also, there's a limit of 90 minutes on Stack Overflow

I know, I've run into the block myself before.
But like really, what are the chances that two legitimate users will be posting from the same IP so close together?

@Mithrandir If they...go to the same university?
In my computer science lab multiple machines are frequently routed through the same IP.
