How many former mods have been deleted on the site they used to mod?

user315433
I think Bill on Mathematics doesn't count, since the account was restored. Then Keen on Science Fiction & Fantasy is the only example I know.

Q: Proposal for Leveraging the Main Site for "Blog Posts" and Other Extended Content

Robert HarveyInstead of creating an external blog to replace the Stack Exchange blog, why don't we just leverage the normal Q&A to do this? Here's how it would work: Write your blog post in any ordinary editor. Split your post into a question & answer pair or title/abstract/body combination (Abstract goes ...

user315433
Um, I think explaining to everyone that these QA are not like regular ones might be complicated. But there is a precedent: wiki lock, which does a reasonable job repurposing a post.

user315433
I am not sure if wiki lock prevents the question from being closed, but it probably should.

user315433
I recall bitter disputes on math site when someone tried using it more or less like a blog, in a draft mode on top of that.

user315433
Repeatedly seeing one of these things on the front page gets annoying.

@zaq There's nothing wrong with closing a question like that since it only needs one answer anyway.

11:29 AM
@JasonC I see. That kind of sucks in a way... "gigs"... so you're using Fiverr?

11:39 AM
@Stijn I just overheard it. This is not an official endorsement. Nothing may happen at all. 6 to 8 weeks is a meme, not an actual ETA. There may be no "team" at all and it's all run by monkeys. — deceze ♦ 14 mins ago

11:56 AM
@rene The likelihood of it being all run by monkeys is bigger than them being able to solve a perceived ''flag'' problem

I hate to admit but you might be correct, this time...

user202362
12:09 PM
@M.A.R. for some reasons I read the first part of that sentence as 'The likelihood of it being all run by monkeys bigger than me'

a team of bigger monkeys have been dispatched :p

user202362
humans are multiplying like mad in an enclosed system, kind of reminds me of a really well formed ant habit in an enclosed tank

user202362
when I say enclosed, it doesn't necessarily mean that it's physically enclosed, just that the creature you are trying to contain can not escape ... like a fish tank

@ShadowWizard I dunno what fiver is. It's a word for freelance jobs.
A lot of my friends are dancers and performers though maybe it rubbed off I guess.

@JasonC It's Australian for ''fever''

Lol. Oh, world.
Oh were miscommunicating. I meant the word "gigs". Those two sentences were unrelated. Need coffee. @M.A.R.

I tried to feed a piece of meat to a magpie, then my chicken got jealous and threw herself on to the baby pie. I think the pie is scarred for life and might not come back ...

@JasonC What time is it there?

I didn't know chickens had such personality. That's kinda cute.
830 am

Figures

Lol what does that mean

That's even worse than 4 a.m.

Ha, yeah it is.
Because yay, 9am conference call.

1:45 PM
If you've slept well, you're all fired up from 7 to 8 a.m. but you get tired of being fired up and feel sleepy from 8 to 9.
If you haven't slept well, . . . Well, that goes without saying

The first 30 seconds of a conference call are always the same, and always stupid. Then about one tolerable minute follows. Then the rest sucks. Every time.
I'm usually fired up from about 10 to 11 am. Then it's all downhill fast from there until tomorrow.
Haha. I love the concept of "tired of being fired up". It's way more hilariously depressing than just being "tired".

@JasonC Oh, then you usually wake up at 9?

Welp. Bbl. Have a nice day.
Yeah about 9-930.

Fiverr is a global online marketplace offering tasks and services, beginning at a cost of $5 per job performed, from which it gets its name. The site is primarily used by freelancers who use Fiverr to offer services to customers worldwide. Currently, Fiverr lists more than three million services on the site that range between $5 and $500. == History == Fiverr was founded by Shai Wininger and Micha Kaufman in 2009, and is headquartered in Tel Aviv, Israel. Wininger came up with the concept of a marketplace that would provide a two sided platform for people to buy and sell a variety of digi...
For some reason thought the terms "gigs" was their invention, but now made some research and probably it's not... lol

I'm trying to figure out what the OP wants here but their response is as confusing as the question itself. Is it my lack of coffee or am I missing something else?

I think Cai is right in his comment

Are you suggesting that currently non-existing languages (e.g. lang-md) should default to lang-none instead on default (which I assume is what currently happens)? — Cai 3 mins ago
Yup ^

@rene OP doesn't want to use lang-none, but want to use lang-md and have it behave the same way as lang-none, until specific markdown highlighting is added.

The OP is saying that non-implemented prettify languages should default to none, so you can use a lang-md to "correctly" tag it for the future

So to answer your question: drink more coffee :)

2:15 PM
That sounds like a bad idea

drink more tea

that also @Stijn

Is "lang-md" a proposed thing, or is that just the OP assuming it will be available with that name somewhere in the future?

the latter, probably

that is like taking an dependency on a public interface that does not yet exist
It would still need an implementation on the side of Google prettify.

2:23 PM
@rene I've attempted to make a patch for the prettify lib a few years ago, the code is... non-ideal
not sure if it's still maintained tbh

yeah, I digged into it before here

hmm... this question on SO smells bad. Is this spam?
Voted to close as "unclear" because it is, but wonder if it's also meant as spam.
The link is highly suspicious.

Hmm, not sure. It's fishy, but I'm not certain

3:37 PM
@ShadowWizard the link ends for me in a dns parking page

@rene well, isn't it fishy?
Not obvious spam, yeah, but...

@ShadowWizard hmm, not sure. Maybe the tried to hide their real site name and chose an unlucky one.
@ShadowWizard I fixed that for you

We’re back for another edition of the Stack Overflow Developer Survey, the largest and most comprehensive survey of software developers on earth. Every year, we include questions about your favorite technologies, coding habits, and work preferences, as well as how you learn, share, and level up as a developer.

user315433

@bjb568 Except for being subject to deletion if some 10K users don't like the post. Since the creation of wiki-lock is a mod decision, it would make sense if the deletion of such a thing was also up to them.

The survey jumped back to the start on three occasions now. Is that expected?

Q: Is the developer survey broken?

Paul RI've been trying to complete the new developer survey but it keeps jumping back to the very beginning and I have to click through all the questions I've already completed to get back to where I was. It's getting too tedious to have to keep doing this so I have regretfully been forced to abandon i...

Why is there a sense of doom in the air? Yesterday, it was Proposal: Merge SuperUser, Unix&Linux, ServerFault, AskUbuntu, AskDifferent because "some of those sites don't get a lot of traffic"

user315433
Kind of a ridiculous claim if one looks at Quantcast or the list of SE sites.

user315433
But as a question asker, one may be interested in "answerer traffic", which is hard to measure. That indeed may be low in places/tags.

user315433
8:06 PM
Considering that pretty much everyone visits AU to read existing answers (or to post "OMG WiFi not working").

Because there is not enough of a sense of doom in the world @zaq. 2017 is probably going to pass without any problems or disasters, so let's at least just merge some random sites

user315433
Well, I have it on good authority that people continue to die in 2017. Was updating a column to "deceased" (and editing the person's bio) yesterday.

user315433
Luckily not much work now, have templates for everything.

Wait, that's not what we agreed on. We did that in 2016. This year there were no more deaths

I'm voting to close this question as off-topic because ask it affects several sites it should be asked on meta.se — DavidPostill 23 hours ago
Aww, it didn't get here
It would've been fun seeing a -30-something question after so much time

user315433
8:13 PM
Grace raised a good point though: it does affect specific sites, so it makes sense for users of those sites to debate, as opposed to SO or Math or Chem.

ಠ_ಠ
I should be able to decide an irrelevant site's fate
Not that anything would've changed if we unanimously agreed on the merge

user315433
The success rate of SE site merges so far is 0/1, unless I am forgetting some.

Is there a known issue with the site search also returning deleted posts?
The answer is yes:

Q: Custom search incorrectly returns deleted questions

TunakiUsing a custom search query results in deleted posts being incorrectly returned. I used the following: http://stackoverflow.com/search?q=[kali-linux]+closed:1 which is looking for closed questions having the kali-linux tag, and it returned a couple of questions deleted more than 6 months ago....

Is that still within the 6 to 8 timeframe?

A: Make comment flags less stupid

bluefeetI've been thinking about flags for a long time, and recently I turned my attention to comment flags. Out of sheer curiosity, I ran some numbers for the past year of comments flags across the network - to see how many helpful/declined flags we get in each flag type. In 2016, we had 354,440 commen...

user315433
Hm. What category does "Please add that as an answer so I can accept it" fit, after the answer (based on a comment) was added and accepted?

user315433
If the top sentence ended with "because it is..." instead of "as..." then the second item could be "no longer needed".
