A nice little point and shoot, $200-$300 budget. I love taking pictures, esp. when I'm camping. It's worth it for the joy.

The Pacific Northwest tree octopus is an Internet hoax created in 1998 by Lyle Zapato. This fictitious endangered species of cephalopod was given the Latin name "Octopus paxarbolis" (the species name being coined from Latin pax, the root of Pacific, and Spanish arbol meaning "tree"). It was purportedly able to live both on land and in water, and was said to live in the Olympic National Forest and nearby rivers, spawning in water where its eggs are laid. Its major predator was said to be the Sasquatch. The Pacific Northwest tree octopus website is among a number of sites commonly used in Internet...

@Unikittyeatsacat There's a whole lot of WTF in that post.

It's been an HNQ for quite a while.
The problem with this answer is that it uses the Royal "we". We, as in the community, can do nothing to implement these "what should be done" proposals. Only they can do it. Those they that barely even show up anymore, like I-shipped-the-T-shirts Tim. Not here either, you'd be lucky that they even read it. It is time that something is done about that, can only start if we aim correctly. — Hans Passant 7 hours ago
@Shog It seems there is significant community support for policy change and little being done on SE's end to fix the core Q&A quality problem on SO.

@bjb568 policy change being... what, exactly?

@Shog9 Allowing cat doodles on the main site.

6:40 PM
@Shog9 Making an effort to combat the crap dumping.

The mistake I see again and again is the notion that a majority of poor-quality questions are those that are poorly-written, in ways that can be detected heuristically.
Not that these don't exist - and we have heuristics in place to block or restrict them already - but they pale in comparison to the masses who commit the much greater sin:
...that of being boring.

Meh, I don't see any reason all questions asked by low-rep users whose title starts with a lowercase letter shouldn't be dumped into a review queue before being added to the site.

The best indicators of a poorly-received question are things like [php] or [javascript]. Folks who are out of their depth and asking questions that have been asked a thousand times before in one form or another.
The questions themselves may not be particularly bad in terms of structure or writing, but the content is just... Dull.

I don't buy it.

Q: Change multi text with same class in jquery

Joe DimaggioI've got links in one wrapper which have specific class. I know that i can change text with .text() in jQuery, but what if i have 2 or more texts in same class. How can I change them all at once ?

Are you saying that you guys don't already have a heuristic that could prevent this crap from making it to the home page?

@bjb568 And who would do the reviews? Robo-reviewers? Chuckles

6:43 PM
@IͶΔ Nobody, so they would get nowhere and be forgotten.

> quality -0.019

The only change is in the default. Instead of the masses of crap being forgotten about and left on the site and shoveled to the CV queue, they will be left off the site and be left in the LQ post queue.
@Shog9 What's the range?

+-1

Well, negative score and new asker. Send it away!

@bjb568 You do realize no one would take you seriously with this sarcasm-snarky meta talk?

6:47 PM
And, beyond quality scoring and queues, can't you just make the Ask Question button only show up on the bottom of a search page?

@bjb568 irritatingly, that should've been hidden by default. I'm not sure why it wasn't.

The threshold score is supposed to be 0

… well, it ain't workin'.

Jason Zimmerman (born February 5, 1989), known by his gamertag Mew2King, shortened as M2K, is an American professional electronic sports player. He is considered one of the best Super Smash Bros. players of all time. He has won over 70 tournaments during his career and after Adam Lindgren, he has won the second most prize money playing Super Smash Bros. Melee. In Melee Mew2King primarily plays Sheik, Marth, and Fox. In Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Mew2King mains Meta Knight; however in MK-Banned tournaments, he plays King Dedede or Falco.
