I think regex is the only title-based informational pop-up so far. Others are tag-based, like [sql] on SO and [wireless] on Ubuntu.

Was so hoping for a unicorn to lay me an Easter egg.
Hm, how do the tag ones work?

user259867
try sql as a tag. There isn't one for regex tag.

@NormalHuman Looks like urgent also triggers one.

user259867
Right, although that one is more of a reprimand. There is one for "you" in titles as well, claiming the question is subjective.

user259867

12:14 AM
That's neat.
Not sure if they’d see it though.
I like that SO has driven the technology on these things, letting them get implemented when there wouldn't be enough justification on a small site for new programming.
This gives me lots of ideas.
I wish I knew whether any of this actually helped us get better questions and better titles, rather than just annoying people and driving them away or having them work around or ignore it. I seem to recall @JonEricson wondering that same thing. But it might not be possible to answer that quantitatively.

12:31 AM
@tchrist I suspect they tend to be ignored. Though, I bet the shorter the warning the better.

Nobody likes to read long stuff. Who would?

@JonEricson Would it be possible for you to check on the efficacy (e.g. a list of titles/questions that received the warning, and see what happened to the question)? Not sure if you even collect data on that.

What do you mean, "what happened to"?

@tchrist Upvoted/downvoted/closed/deleted/whatever else

You'd probably have to compare before-and-after.
For those.

12:36 AM
Hmm, yeah, probably.
See if anything changed.

user259867
Changed compared to what? There is no control group.

@NormalHuman Isn't the before kinda the control? Not perfect, but at least it would give an idea.

Compared to "what happened" to questions that would have gotten them from before the warnings were issued, is what I meant. That may not be a sane thing to consider.

@hichris123 Hmmm... We surely must log that somewhere. I'll have to look tomorrow.

@JonEricson Yeah, go have fun rather than chatting with us. ;)

12:39 AM
I was trying to understand whether "what happened" meant they edited stuff immediately afterwards. Which I hoped was not the question.

user259867
Large sites naturally evolve from bad to worse, so the results would be skewed.

@NormalHuman For SO... not so much I think. At least in the past few years.

@NormalHuman Really? Always?

@tchrist Ah, I see. Yeah, I meant what overall happens to the question. Whatever some of Shog's analyses look like.

user259867
With some exceptions. Maybe ProgSE is better than NPR-SE. Don't know, don't have any use for the site in either shape.

Abkhazia & Beijing... wut.

This list of sovereign states provides an overview of sovereign states around the world, with information on their status and recognition of their sovereignty. Membership within the United Nations system divides the 206 listed states into three categories: 193 member states, two observer states, and 11 other states. The sovereignty dispute column indicates states whose sovereignty is undisputed (190 states) and states whose sovereignty is disputed (16 states). Compiling a list such as this can be a difficult and controversial process, as there is no definition that is binding on all the members...

The Nagorno-Karabakh War (Azerbaijani: Qarabağ Müharibəsi), referred to as the Artsakh Liberation War (Armenian: Արցախյան ազատամարտ, Artsakhyan azatamart) by Armenians, was an ethnic conflict that took place in the late 1980s to May 1994, in the enclave of Nagorno-Karabakh in southwestern Azerbaijan, between the majority ethnic Armenians of Nagorno-Karabakh backed by the Republic of Armenia, and the Republic of Azerbaijan. As the war progressed, Armenia and Azerbaijan, both former Soviet Republics, entangled themselves in a protracted, undeclared war in the mountainous heights of Karabakh a...
