@ajax333221 - while the deleted one had tabbing and left the braces how I like them, the low-rep user placed spaces around his equals sign, which trumps the deleted for me.

Spaces around equals signs is where it's at.

hi, I'm not sure that's the good place to talk about it, but I'm beginning at reviewing, and though some edits are obviously "too minor", I like when users take time to correct spelling and grammar in posts...

Is there any time a user can't flag a chat message for moderator attention?

I was talking to a user who wanted one of his messages deleted (sensitive information) but there wasn't a mod around. Someone told him to flag it for mod attention, but he said he didn't have that option :S

Only the spam/offensive option.

@Seth Could be that he just didn't notice, the "flag for moderator" entry doesn't have a nice icon next to it, unlike the other options.

There's some limit where messages older than a certain number of days can't be flagged. I think.

Because someone went through a chatroom and flagged a bunch of old messages that contained profanity. Which caused somewhat of a commotion.

sounds like something a certain user who's also soapboxing around on meta :p

@JoshDM I don't quite understand your flag on this. There's nothing about the "we need to be less hostile" thread you linked to that immediately suggests to me that that old request should be revisited. If you want to repost your answer there as a feature-request, go for it. It can't hurt.

why ban an IP? it's just ridiculous, past century kind of thing

an IP doesn't correlate to a person

most ISPs change IPs daily

you will end up banning users who use Tor to protect their privacy
