I don't see any giant blocks LINQ lambda expression chains not written my me in this project.
I wonder if that's going to come back to haunt me.

12:16 AM
> Kevin, you're going to have to maintain this code forever. The rest of us don't do the whole...LINQ lambda...thing.

12:29 AM
No, they do it they just don't chain 4 lines of it together.

One of my friends that's in college took a test today in his computer networking class. He said the first question started out "Question 1. Assume routing has been configured as in the previous question."

Off to a good start!

Do search result pages have live-refresh?

I don't believe so.

Thanks. I did not think so either.

It would be kind of neat though.

hiya folks.
@Lix - Just sent you an email.

Q: Add references to meta posts in privilege wikis

nhahtdhI would like to suggest that we add references to meta posts in the privilege wikis. Currently, the wikis are very lacking on the details on the appropriate way to use the tools/make use of the privilege (review tools, 10k tools, protect post, deletion, etc.). I don't think that this is a new su...

I have posted the suggestion above. I would like to poll for the questions that should be added to the privilege wiki (I have some in mind, but probably not complete).
Should I [ask a new question], OR should I [post a self-answer as community for everyone to edit], before making an official edit to the privilege wiki?

I like how stackoverflow.com/questions/15154983/… is tagged [motherboard].

10:23 AM
... followed by 45 more. <sigh>

Some of them are programming questions actually related to motherboards, but the tag is hugely unnecessary imo. Who in their right mind goes to Stack Overflow to search the motherboard tag? =D

I heard you like chat.
So I oneboxed a chat in your chat so you can chat while you chat.

Word.

Chrome dev tools needs a 'steal all resources' button
For when clients are like 'Why would I give you access to the old site?'

Would someone like to help me finish closing this question?

@balpha Oh Mr. regex master, did you forgot something else?

Single quotes are for crazy people.

I'm looking for a meta question and was wondering if someone could help me find it

I would never write attributes with a single quote
but I do all my JS in single quotes
what does that mean? (it means I can scan the fecking page and find what i'm looking for quickly)

Double quotes in JS are also for crazy people.
@Rachel Sure

@Rachel just ask @TimStone and he should be able to oblige ;-)

It was something about SO/SE being for experts or not, and it had a fairly good upvoted answer by some moderator (I think) that basically said experts are too busy making money to give out advice for free on a Q&A site, so we try and target the next best thing - intelligent users that are fairly knowlable on the subject matter
@jcolebrand Good idea, I'll check out his profile

...

It was an old post, from the beginning of SO I believe
I'm fairly sure I'm not remembering parts of it correctly, and want to read it again

Hmm

I'm curious if it's this Q:

Q: What Experts-Exchange thinks of Stack Overflow

Adam RackisAfter noticing a $10 Experts-Exchange (EE) fee on my credit card, I realized I've had an idle EE account for quite a few years. I sent them an email asking for instructions on how to close it, and mentioned that they were great, but that they couldn't compete with Stack Overflow (which is true; I...

I guess its not that big of deal. This is the 2nd time I've tried finding it to read again, and things I can't find bother me
@jcolebrand Nope, it was specifically a question about either expert or beginner/basic questions
I thought the answer was by Jeff or Joel, but I couldn't find it in their profiles

6:44 PM
@Rachel I've found a lot of information I picked up by hanging out in here and the TL and whatnot, and not so much from actual posts
Also look for stuff from Adam Davis (Pollyana) and Shog9

The closest thing I could find to the "experts are too busy" part was Jeff's blog post: codinghorror.com/blog/2008/09/…

Q: Why should I keep answering on Stack Overflow? Observations from a new user

ErikObservations, suggestions and some questions after 4 days on Stack Overflow. I've been hearing about Stack Overflow from more and more people, and it turns up more and more often in my Google searches. This weekend I decided to finally give it a try, see how it compared to e.g. the original expe...

The idea that you have all these experts waiting in the wings to do stuff is an illusion in my experience. There's really just a bunch of amateurs muddling along trying to do things together. The people that are truly experts are too busy to even help, right?
And if the experts are too busy to help, what difference does it really make if there are experts at all. Because the whole point of this endeavor is helping other developers, and whether you're an expert or not, if you have no time to help, you're not really contributing to the solution.
That may be it Tim

@jcolebrand Maybe I'm just stupid today, but I don't see that text in that question :)

Hi, can someone advise on how to proceed? chat.meta.stackoverflow.com/transcript/message/1296582#1296582

@Rachel: It's from the blog post I linked.

6:52 PM
@Rachel it wasn't in the question ;-)

@animuson Thank you, I think that's what I was looking for :)

@nhahtdh what's wrong with the answer?

It wouldn't be the first time I've searched MSO for something, only to find it in a blog post

@jcolebrand: No, nothing. Just that I want to know whether I should ask a new question to poll for a list of meta posts, or make a community wiki'ed answer to the existing question

@animuson @jcolebrand Thank you for helping :) I've bookmarked that for reading later, but right now I have to get back to work

6:54 PM
Some day I'll steal the rest of @TimStone's magical powers.

@nhahtdh for what?

Yeah, I found those things earlier but I didn't think it was quite what she was looking for :P

Don't create busywork lists. You need to edit those specific posts, so go edit them
If @animuson learns how to do the THC transcripts and starts mucking about in the js I'm going to be very afraid.

Oh crap
That reminds me |:
