wow...this dude just posted the same answer 7 times within 15 mins....
It's not even self promotion... Looks like that article really did blow his mind...

@balpha ...Except the one I apparently had left myself a comment for when I tried swapping in \b a while ago myself. Whoops. >_>

Hmmm.

Dictionary word?

Haha, yes.
Note to self: "brown" is an excellent word, and an awesome color, but a terrible password.

@jadarnel27 I knew it, your password is hunter7

Note to self: don't make the admin account for every site the domain name with 0 in place of o.
@jadarnel27 What is the opposite of brown. Some other shade of brown?

1:24 AM
@mootinator I think it's a bright neon yellow

@jcolebrand I love that bash entry! I haven't thought about that website in forever.
@mootinator Trick question, brown doesn't have any opposite.
Brown is so amazing, that if it had an opposite, that color would destroy the electromagnetic spectrum.

@jadarnel27 meh, that joke's been around a lot longer than that bash entry

So what you're saying is that casperOne is some sort of antimatter?

YES!
Exactly.

@TimStone @Shog9 Thanks!

@TimStone Yeah same here. When the bug report came in, I recalled having considered that problem before.

@balpha Incidentally, I wanted to get my hands on those Markdown sources to stress-test some of those other changes I suggested recently. I suppose I should get on that.

A heterogram (from hetero-, meaning "different", + -gram, meaning "written") is a word, phrase, or sentence in which no letter of the alphabet occurs more than once. An isogram, in which all letters occur an equal number of times, is the same as a heterogram when each letter occurs once. A heterogram may be distinguished from a pangram (a holoalphabetic sentence), which uses all of the letters of the alphabet (possibly more than once). A perfect heterogram is, however, the same as a perfect pangram, since both consist of all letters of the alphabet with each represented exactly once. Ab...
I have my doubts about some of the examples ...

@random, that was completely inappropriate and against SE policy

@LanceRoberts do you mean the rollback?

6:37 PM
Yes, SE policy is clear on munging. The question was locked by Tim Post in a munged state and random has decided to unlock the answers and rollback to an unmunged state.

@LanceRoberts so it's against SE policy to properly use the assigned proper name of a language when discussing the language?
Additionally
We are adults, this site is for the discussion of the operation of the site, and if the name is munged then how the FUCK are you supposed to search for it?

Read Jeff's answer. The bottom line is that corporate filters will catch it and stop users from being able to use the site.
Searching on 'Brain' will yield the results you desire.

meta.stackoverflow.com/search?q=fuck - I'd say that's reason enough not to censor it ;x
And are there really any IT companies that have such strict filters which can be triggered by a single word?

@ThiefMaster you're only encouraging people to clean up the site you know ;-)
@ThiefMaster schools would
ok, I've got to AFK for now, feel free to flame me in my absence.

School kids usually don't really need to use SO though - or rather, we mods are usually happier if they don't.
Most of them will just dump their assignment in the question field anyway

6:53 PM
Then they should ban Brainfuck questions completely if they don't want anyone to use its proper noun properly

Yes, the site needs more cleanup, but it doesn't need mods flagrantly breaking SE policy.

@LanceRoberts: Flagging that word in chat? Really? This is the place where corporate filters really don't matter at all.

so now casperOne is threating me because he doesn't agree with SE policy, I imagine with his godlike powers I won't be around long
@ThiefMaster, do you think that maybe they have an offensive flag here for a reason?

Yes. It's for truly offensive things. Such as calling other users n-words and similar stuff, posting offensive images, spammers, etc.

What's the problem @LanceRoberts?

7:00 PM
Assuaging no fears, a society inspissated of its morals drags down those wanting to keep abreast of the social mores. And those wanting to cook with shitake mushrooms will have to use tofu instead
2
Q: Substituting fresh shitake mushrooms for dried

JoeMy question is exactly the reverse of this one: Substituting Dried Shiitake Mushrooms for Fresh I have a recipe for vegetarian gravy which calls for 8 dried shitake mushrooms, but I only have fresh shitake mushrooms. How much should I use? For reference, the recipe was found here: http://umami...

@LanceRoberts Just to be clear, destruction of content is something that we suspend for. Also, let's cut it with the drama about you presuming to know anything about my moral fiber, or the idea that "you might not be around much longer"; a suspension isn't a destruction of your account. You know all this, so please stop stirring the pot on this and leave the post be.

Why aren't the mushrooms being munged?

@random You got some for me? Cause I'm having KFC tonight and I love KFC and shrooms

@random To be fair, shiitake is spelled with two i's
But yeah, I guess some folks spell it shitake

@LanceRoberts meta.stackoverflow.com/questions/165125/… - Bring it up on meta if you have an issue with it.

7:03 PM
@Manishearth Guess it depends on where you work

hmm, yeah

@casperOne, you've made your lack of moral fiber clear, SE policy has been clear for years on this, even if it hasn't been enforced completely

A: Is the language "BrainFuck" offensive?

Jeff AtwoodBrainF_ck : Programming Languages :: 2 Live Crew : Music It's a joke. The joke isn't very funny, original, interesting, or useful. It causes problems with corporate net filtering software and jeopardizes others' ability to even arrive at the site. All in all, a giant f_cking waste of time for e...

@LanceRoberts a) remember to "be nice"; commenting about someone's lack of anything in a manner to make them seem less than something you think they should be is a violation of that, and we've suspended people for less. b) show me where it says that the use of the word fuck, when used in a mature conversation on the site about governance is inappropriate.

@casperOne, just did, you're the one not fulfilling his duties, and then threatening me for doing the cleanup as per SE policy.

@LanceRoberts Bring it up on meta then. Make a post about it. Otherwise, stop with the editing, and the flagging. It's just noise and we all have better things to do. I'll be locking the brainfuck post that you've been editing, btw.

7:07 PM
Has anyone posted on Meta that they can't access the site because it's blocked by such filters based on Brainfuck?
5
Or are we over optimising in the case it may happen?

I just came here to see if there was some discussion going on. All those censorship edits were starting to get on my nerves.
2

@random we aren't: we do have a policy of not censoring usernames based on substrings

No, I will not stop.

We're bringing popcorn

7:09 PM
and some SO usernames have caused them to be blocked on other sites

@Shog9 page not found?

Well, well.

The argument was stupid three years ago, and it's stupid now. Please drop it. There are more productive things to spend your time on.
9

And if you wanted to search for Brainfuck, we have to account for the various munging techniques used. *, _, $, ♪, etc.

@random, no, 'Brain' as a word isn't used that much, it will find what you want.

7:11 PM
BrainFuck is not offensive. Go home and get a life.
6
seriously

@Shog9 I've just found that solution to be effective as well in the other area. Thanks for that. Laters.

This whole "morality" thing cracks me up.

@LanceRoberts I dare you to edit out every single instance of "fuck" in this post:

@LanceRoberts Who's going to tell the poor end users that we have censored the word and they ought to search for Brain, not BF?

The search needs to properly stem "brain" into "brainfuck" and its variants, otherwise, we need more elastic

7:13 PM
Can someone explain to me the moral ground that supposedly states that munging is less offensive than the actual word itself?
7

I say we censor it to bra*nfuck.

this ^

@R.MartinhoFernandes lol I remember that

@random, wildcarding

The search needs wildcarding then. It doesn't appear to have that feature-request made yet

You just have to have an encyclopedia knowledge of the minified JavaScript. It's no big deal, promise.

@ThiefMaster this is a "keep hacking until it works" kind of project. I have no idea how it work, so I can't document it either ;p

it was mostly about apis like the one in exactly that line :p

oh that
I din't realize you had a line number there
Just ask @TimStone, he dreams our minified JS.

Haley Joel Osment, who was Forrest Gump's son, the kid in Sixth Sense, David from AI, and Trevor from Pay It Forward .. is now 24.

I do enjoy most of this movie.

@jcolebrand He's also really weird looking.
