So there are at least two different kinds of this thing called work. That is shocking.

Read the comments on the initial SE2.0 announcement if you want some chuckles. I can understand why people are so upset, but the extreme negativity seems pretty silly in hindsight.

@TheElementofMagic At the time, most folks didn't realize how badly SE1.0 had failed

It's good to see that your pedantic bug reporting is not just limited to the Stack Exchange network, Tim.

Hey, this is srs bsns
It's super annoying.
But yes, I will report all the bugs, everywhere!

For those who haven't been following, you may be interested to know that a post on security.SE which was cross-posted to their blog was the first to publicly guess (correctly) the nature of the newly-presented vulnerability in HTTPS. It's been linked in a bunch of places; it's probably really good promotion for the site.

The following post asks for a workaround for a problem which I feel should not have happened in the first place. Should I edit in a [bug] tag or post a new question? (or moan about it in the tavern?)

Q: How to achieve this /tagged/*sql*+or+vb6?

hims056If I use http://stackoverflow.com/questions/tagged/*sql* I get all tags which include sql. But I want all tags which include or vb6 So I tried this: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/tagged/*sql*+or+vb6 But I am getting like this: So I need or between *sql* and vb6 like this: Is it possible?

@ShawnChin I agree and I'd prefer to see it retagged, particularly since it wouldn't invalidate the existing answer. The OP seems to be online, so I'd go with posting a comment asking if they're okay with retagging. Maybe give them a couple minutes to reply to be polite, but if not I'd probably go ahead and retag it anyway.

That's what I'm inclined to do. Only concern is that the workaround has been accepted and I wonder if the question would then just fall under the radar.

Hmm, perhaps.

Either'd be okay, but that does seem like a bug so just don't only leave it here in the tavern. ;P

retagged as [bug]
Sure it might fall under the radar but it's not that critical a bug, really. It just bugs (hah!) me had it not been put on record.

Q: Could the Stack Exchange engine be adapted for bug tracking?

JonathanBug tracking is currently distributed throughout the Internet. Each project has its own bug system. Wouldn't it be great if there could be a single place (and single UI) where people could get credit for their efforts of bug reporting? No more wondering about trying to find that bug tracking si...

I have this weird problem with a button element on this page I'm working on
Firebug's telling me that the button is disabled, yet looking at the HTML source and JavaScript nothing should've disabled it
The validator says the HTML is clean
This is so weird

Hmm, is it something that's available to look at, or?

Ohh boy, I'm having a vacation within my vacation!

don't a vacation of a vacation means going back to work?

@ajax technically, yes. Good point. But I like mine better
I'm going to LA for Stan Lee's Comikaze expo.
I have no idea what to expect.
But I'm pretty sure it will be fun.

@animuson in my country you would, but I will try to delete anyway (edit: I can't o.o)

7:11 PM
Do want.

@Pekka Will you also be going to DENVER for JOEL SPOLSKY's office opening STACK EXCHANGE EXPO?

@Pop I plan to take a more southerly route from LA on, so I probably won't make it there! However, I'll be making up my route as I go along. If I come anywhere near Denver, I'll be there.
What about you? Will you be flying in from Nuuk?

7:28 PM
How very disappointing. No, I won... I mean, sure, yeah, as far as you know, I'll be there.

7:45 PM
Is that a ruse to lure me to Colorado? That'll work only if you're actually there. Otherwise, you'll be in trouble.
I might be so disappointed that I'd use the superpowers I will have acquired in L.A. by then (it's a Stan Lee expo, remember?) and mentally set your mailbox on fire or something.
Will Joel Spolsky be wrestling Zombies at the STACK EXCHANGE EXPO?

@Pekka I don't know what things are like in that "Europe" fantasy land, but interfering with the postal service is a serious federal offense here. I'm pretty sure I can have you Guantanamoed now.
Besides, how can the promise of Shogcakes not be lure enough?
In other news, people have clearly forgotten the lesson of I outwitted the 30 day waiting period:

What? I couldn't hear you, I was busy flagging all of his obvious sockpuppets that I can't believe people didn't catch before.

Heh.
Re Shogcakes - they will be having a gravitational pull on me when I come anywhere near 800 miles of Denver.
I will sit at some rest stop, and feel the urge to walk northward
One other thing - I came across a rideshare web site the other day whose name started with y.
Does anyone know off the top of their head which one that was?

Even I'm going to raise a brow at that one.

I was just at an auto repair shop.
Their jaw dropped when I pointed out that I had driven 20,000km since visiting in April so maybe they should have measured the brake pads again instead of guessing there was still some there.

Who needs brakes? They were trying to save you money, of course.

Money is more important than stopping.
Or something.

Rich people are always in a hurry anyway.

Course, that's mostly highway mileage, which doesn't really tax the brakes much, but I digress.
The reaction was funny at any rate.
We're going to make so much $ off of having this kid. Yay socialism ;P

Q: Frist Psot‼‼‼‼‼‼‼

Shog9We're grinding through the old /review queues, moving them into the new Community Review Dashboard format. Recently, Emmett's been slaving over a hot compiler to bring you: the First Posts queue: This is a bit different from the preview queues, which tend to focus on a handful of very specif...

Q: What will happen to our previous review stats with the new review system, and how will it affect the badge?

animusonThe previous review stats had more options which you could complete on a post than the new review beta seems to provide: flagging, voting, and commenting. While I'm not sure if any of these three will be present in the other review tasks yet to be created, I'm curious as to what you're planning t...

@Shog9 In the case of "I'm sure that post needs neither editing nor commenting, and I don't want to vote on it", can we get a "Next" button, or will we have to use "Not Sure"?

@DanielFischer The latter
You can also leave a comment. Or flag.

Urk. I hate that button, when I'm sure I don't want to act on it, I'm sure.

11:02 PM
@Shog that's sweet! (the new review feature, I mean)

@Pekka I'm... Hopeful.
@DanielFischer Meh. The idea behind all of the queues is that something should be done, some decision should be made. If you don't want to do anything, that's fine - but from the perspective of the system, you haven't really accomplished anything.

SWEET

@Shog9 Yes, but if somebody else already left a nice "Welcome to SO" comment, somebody already edited the post into shape, but it's still not worthy of an upvote (IMO), then I'm not "Not Sure", I am sure that I have nothing to do to that post. There's a difference between "No action required, IMO, it's okay as is" and "I don't know what to do with this".

11:21 PM
One of the questions I saw in there had three "please post the code" comments

like the review idea - wish i could put my questions on them sometimes tbh - i feel like the quality of my Q's could improve

Could be coincidence though - but considering a comment upvote an action might be a good idea
