@jadarnel27 ^

1 hour later…
4:26 AM
Someone has kidnapped the real Randall Munroe. There's no alt-text on xkcd today. gasp
@TimStone I'm intrigued. Also, congrats on a (presumably) productive SE weekend =)

5:19 AM
I think that's enough wanting to punch MySQL in the face for one night.

5:51 AM
Breaking things for convenience's sake.

Is there a mod here?
this user is spamming Ask Different

10:17 AM
he's been on SO and SF as well
blacklisted network-wide now

10:39 AM
Hi, any mods around?
Is it possible to merge two accounts of a user when one of them is deleted?
I deleted my German.SE account and created another account, is it possible to merge them?

Seriously, what are you doing with your accounts? You keep deleting/requesting merges/creating new accounts over and over again.

11:04 AM
could someone else try to onebox that ^^^, please?

@JeremyBanks thanks, now try again

@LoïcWolff and again?

excellent

\o/

thanks

12:13 PM
SEEKRETS!
yawns Good morning everyone.

Lix
@timS - g-morning to you and good afternoon to everyone!

@Moshe You spilled some water on your screenshot.
Yay, morning!

12:29 PM
@LoïcWolff Even if I did like handbags I'm not convinced "juicy" is an adjective that would attract me to them...

@jadarnel27 - I made this app use the lock screen and the multitasking tray controls.
Was showing that out.

@Moshe Just making a joke =) Seems like a useful app, though.
I'm not a big Apple fan, but that's only because I hate and fear things that I don't understand.

1:08 PM
@jadarnel27 I know, but 8 hours sleep since a long nap on Saturday afternoon , separated over 2 stints (and one foiled-by-a-phone-call-attempt) does quite a number on my sense of humor.
@amanaplan - HBD!

1:28 PM
@Moshe I imagine so!

@jadarnel27 Yea, been trying to get two apps done this week. Neither of which were more than 30% finished as of Friday.
Now, b"h, one is 80% done and the other, 50%.

@Moshe What does "b"h" mean?

So I'm getting there.

Good for you though, sounds like a productive weekend.

@jadarnel27 Oh, that's actually an abbreviation for "baruch hashem", hebrew for "thank Gd"

1:35 PM
Ah, cool. Sort of what I figured from the context.

@jadarnel27 Yea, it was, thanks. Gotta drag myself out to work now. Or let them know that I'm working from home because I'm tired, it's raining, and I'm enjoying this secondhand Airon chair, which I claimed by virtue of cleaning it from what everyone else in the house was too lazy to clean.
(My Dad got it from his office when another office in the building closed.)
It's so cool to see projects coming together, ya know.
I'm just relaxing now. In this chair.
Typing about it to random strangers on the internet.
Trololol man died! :-(

I love random strangers on the Internet. They have the best candy.
@Moshe I thought you had to drag yourself to work now? =)
I can't believe the dude from this post is still going on like he's not at fault. I'm so confused.

1:52 PM
@jadarnel27 He's pigheaded

Seems like it. He was rude and condescending. In response to that, people were not nice to him. gasp!

@jadarnel27 So I do... It's a 20 minute commute, including the train. #firstworldproblems.

2:05 PM
The Blizzard D3 forums are hilarious.
It's just people posting the exact same rants about the game, and how it's an awful-terrible-waste-of-money-piece-of-garbage.

@jadarnel27 Meta-rant about the rants on The Bridge!

@TimManishEarth Hahaha, fantastic idea =)

Currently popular post titles: "Blizzard: Your customers are not happy.", "Why isn't Jay apologizing?", "It's official - Diablo 3 is Blizzard's worst", "35 Small Improvements for Diablo 3".

2:59 PM
Is there a way to find out how many questions and how many answers I have voted on (on a beta site)?

Isn't that on your profile?
(lower right hand corner, "X votes cast" - and then it breaks it down by questions and answers)

3:15 PM
Hmm, I didn't get a notification that I had new privileges when I hit 20k... :o
Hmm, guess that only happened 20 minutes ago, perhaps that's not enough time. I thought it was instantaneous though.

3:34 PM
Congrats @TimStone =)

@jadarnel27 You're right, I feel stupid ...

@Szabolcs No need to feel stupid. It's Monday morning =)

3:58 PM
> This question was voluntarily removed by the author – that's you!
If there is already special handling when viewing deleted questions that I own, why not just let me view my own deleted questions? It's not like there is something I have not seen - I wrote the question =)
I sort of feel like posting that as a feature request, but I imagine it's been requested before.

4:52 PM
@TimManishEarth It's a hopeless endeavor sometimes, explaining this system to people =)

5:18 PM
@tim looks like both (original) Tims got 20k on MSO simultaneously
@jad yep :\
Really, the volume of hereyougothatoughttodothetrick answers has made SO seem to be a quickfix forum

@TimManishEarth I don't really see anything wrong with answers like that. But people should understand that not everyone is going to hand it to you on a silver platter.
Personally, I would prefer the conceptual answers that explain what I'm doing wrong.
@TimManishEarth The O.T.'s!

1 hour later…
6:31 PM
I genuinely don't understand what Chichiray is getting at here.

Is there any acronym/abbreviation support in MarkDown?
I'm not good even in the basics of HTML, but I looked up this and hoped it would work, similarly to how the <img> tag works. It doesn't seem to, at least in the preview.
I'm editing some posts and want to avoid being destructive.

@TimStone Kevin did some digging -- he says you already got that privilege notification in February (whyever -- but apparently you did; I seem to recaul a thusly-related bug though), that's why you didn't get it "again"

7:04 PM
@Szabolcs I think it's a perfectly acceptable edit to type it all the way out if the abbreviation / acronym is not incredibly common.
I think I edited a post on Meta once because someone used "wrt" and I had to Google that just to figure out what it meant.

7:28 PM
Lol another pluralization bug ^_^

8:06 PM
@jadarnel27 wrt wrt, I had the impression that's a common TLA.

I nominate Justin Bieber for community moderator. :P

BAM, surprise election.

Anonymous
Exciting.

Hmmm, I'd nominate myself but I suck at typing out long things.

I am declaring WAR on STRESS.

8:13 PM
@mootinator That sounds counter-productive.
@DanielFischer I hate you. Also, I may have been all alone wrt not knowing that acronym.

> Stress is a disease, people, and I am the cure. I'm a doctor with a cure. No I'm not. I'm a general and it's still a war.

@jadarnel27 ;)

@animuson Me too, thanks for sharing.

@mootinator Is that from a song?

8:26 PM
It's from something: youtube.com/watch?v=elrV-oHeSjE

@mootinator I've got to start watching that show.

I really don't understand why this was approved...

@balpha That'd make sense if maybe there was a bug related to CW votes. Either way, as long as the reason was that the system thought I already had gotten it, that makes enough sense to me. Thanks to you for the info, and to Kevin for digging around!
Uh oh, SO elections. The most crazy of all the Town Halls.

8:44 PM
from the looks of it, it will all revolve around the placement of the seasons

@TimStone for moderator!

I can't believe I've listened to ~7 hours of Space Quest commentary O_o.

@animuson People problems are tiring. I did that for a while, and found I prefer software problems. Plus I have woefully low SO reps. :P
@mootinator ...I wasn't aware that there was that many hours of Space Quest commentary.

@TimStone The game designers have been going through each instalment in obscene detail over the last weekend to promote their kickstarter.

Ah ha

8:54 PM
Space Quest? I loved that game.

nods
@jadarnel27 Finding their KS was the worst thing to happen to my wallet this month O_o.

Lol, late lunch.
@jadarnel27 So I have.

@mootinator Don't worry. It's still pretty early in the month. You could make even worse decisions before July!

@Moshe You'll never steal my @PopularDemand award.

@mootinator What award was that? And how can I steal it if I didn't know it existed?

9:05 PM
@Moshe Something about mentioning food in the tavern.

Don't play coy with us, we know your true intentions.

I don't even remember.

Pikachu, I blame you.

9:38 PM
1200 characters eh?

1200 characters for what?

nominations page
but only after you hit save :)

Is that the limit?

Yeah

That doesn't seem very high o.o

9:41 PM
so quoting my nomination from last time is out straight off :)

@animuson Did you see what happened last election? I'm told casperOne used three chapters of The Great Gatsby as his nomination, but I can't vouch for the accuracy of the information since I stopped reading at the second paragraph.

bahahaha yes, I remember not reading most of them because it was a book on a webpage...

@awoodland So you're going to run for mod? Good man!

@DanielFischer I ran last time and got a lot further than I expected so I think it's worth another go.

Bahhhh I hate writing about myself

9:51 PM
it's hard to say anything in 1200 characters

I concur. And I got the impression you'd make a good mod, so I support your candidacy.

What's your greatest weakness?

What's your greatest fear?

Other than talking about yourself?

@mmyers 12K+

9:52 PM
Haha does the pointy stick count as a fear? :P

Spiders with pointy sticks?

bonus points for the first person to nominate in "txt spk" for added words

If by "bonus points" you mean "automatic disqualification", I'm all for it.

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times.

Fit that one in 1200 characters, @mootinator.

10:04 PM
No problem.

It was the longest of nominations, it was the shortest of nominations

hmm now wc claims 1194 but the error still shows

@awoodland characters, not words

@Shog9 it's wc -m (and wc -c) both saying 1194

@awoodland hmm
newline bug?

10:12 PM
@Shog9 possibly. I pulled a few more words and it accepted it so no big deal

Q: Moderator nomination UI doesn't warn users about character limit

Konrad RudolphThis is unhelpful: Especially when the entered text has less than 1200 characters (according to wc -c)! Now I realise that the site might count differently from wc (for instance wc doesn’t consider line breaks) but this is no excuse to make the UI unhelpful. If such arbitrary restrictions mu...

Aha, you linked to the rest of your spiel elsewhere. Wonder if anyone else will use the same trick.

@mmyers my plan was to quote that directly, but having trimmed it way down I think the 1200 char limit is a good thing since it forced me to trim out all the "fluffy" words I normally use.

Me good. Vote me.
There, 17 characters.

Who needs 17 characters?
Unicorns, +1

10:19 PM
Mine is so short xP

Anonymous
Can we get real-time updates on the election pages?

Anonymous
:P

Anonymous
1200 seems short-ish, but I wouldn't want it too much longer.

Ah...hrm, election page updates. So much to do!

Anonymous
@TimStone "Nominations close in 7 days."

Anonymous
10:31 PM
Should have it for the primary. :P

If I'm lucky, I can get the Data Explorer updates finished tonight and tomorrow, then figure out what needs to be done for that.
...Then do the SO and RPG Town Hall Digests. :P

10:43 PM
@TimStone This is now completed, I think we're being watched o_o
