So, I'm thinking of posting a 'discussion' question here on Meta, and I'm just not sure if it's a good idea. It's a very open-ended question, which specifically would be asking for an answer from each reader. It would basically be asking, "What have you done on a Stack Exchange site that you wish you could take back?". Thoughts?

What sort of result do you want?
It doesn't sound like it would be very . . . constructive to me.

That's what I Was thinking, too...
My thinking was that it could serve as a rough collection of "common pitfalls to avoid"... that even active, 'thoughtful' SE users are willing to admit they've been hit by.
But yeah, that seems weak. heh
I'm considering it because as nitpicky as I am, I've had a couple doozies myself that I would like to share, criticize myself in an instructive way. But.... like you said; it seems difficult to think of the whole exercize as being constructive.

Hm

...and I'd be concerned that someone might take it from "criticize yourself" to instead ranting about something someone else has done.

No, I don't think ranting would be the problem
The problem is that there isn't really an answer to your "question"

12:20 AM
Well, right; it's totally open-ended.

In general, I don't think that "open-ended" works here

and that's basically why I don't just post it and see what happens... I think the question would itself be it's own answer :P
That is... that the question itself would serve as my own "biggest mistake on SE". heher

Now that's meta

Hey, check out the style on dev.stackoverflow.com. I made a user script to apply this on SO and MSO, you can click here to install it.

I think I like it.

@JeremyBanks Actually, you probably shouldn't install that user script. I think it might break some of the site's JS....

Q: Flag review collaps/uncollapse icon has the wrong state

Octavian DamieanIn the flag review tab of the moderator tools when I uncollapse, that is expand an item and take an action, like flagging or casting a close vote on it, then it automatically collapses again. However the state of the collapse/uncollapse icon doesn't get updated. I've taken some screenshots (with...

@OctavianDamiean that was supposed to be a rocket launcher not missile. Eh.

Heh. I'm amused.
I did everything wrong.

On a driving test? I'm curious... How?

He completed the test driving the car backwards

@YiJiangsProble Was the car backwards (going in reverse), or was he backwards (sitting in the seat the wrong way)? Both are impressive, I'm just looking for clarification.

2:47 PM
No. Not backwards. I turned really wide, didn't look enough, and didn't slow when I was supposed to. Meh. I drove much better yesterday.

Q: Capitalize "Internet" in the close dialog

PhononAccording to many sources, including a well reputed Stack Exchange site, and numerous dictionaries, the word Internet is a proper noun and should be capitalized. However, when voting for closing of a question, the following explanation appears for one of the options: This question is unlikely...

Clearly a typo. s/internet/interwebs

@Tim, I hate to be the one to tell you, you misspelled blogoblags, which you have to admit is amusing when you consider the context.

I am so ashamed. runs off to hide

the context being the internet?

5:21 PM
The context being correctness of spelling and grammar.

The Context.
I thought it was spelled intertubes anyway.

5:53 PM
So flags are now number-based as opposed to score-based?

@LynnCrumbling Nope, still flag-weight-based:
12
Q: What determines the number of flags I get after the removal of flag weight?

DragonLordThe flag weight feature has been removed. Now what determines the number of flags I get each day?

What's this all about (top answer):
15
A: Is it possible to show on the user profile whether the Flag Weight has increased or decreased?

wafflesSure We now only show the number of helpful flags on your profile page (visible only to you) ... this number only ever increases. Flag weight on the other hand, is gone ... it is dead.

Can you be more specific?

(specifically, his phrase: "Flag weight on the other hand, is gone ... it is dead")

I think Lynn is confused I about the change in the numbering (from a flag weight "score" (0-750) to just the number of helpful flags being shown)

5:57 PM
I understand that I'm now seeing '13' instead of '260', so it's the same number driving it.

In this chat, you can edit recently sent messages to correct misspellings. Just press your up arrow key or click on the down arrow icon that appears when you hover over a message and click "edit."

blerg

Previously, I believe it was linear up to a point (500?) and then sort of went logarithmic?
Popular: Oh, that is great to know

@LynnCrumbling That's correct.

Yep, that was just a score representing the quality of your flags. Jeff is saying that it still exists and is -- for now -- still being used to calculate the number of flags you get per day, even though it's no longer being displayed.
Waffles was merely referring to the number no longer being visible.

6:01 PM
Ah.. Excellent.

If you're curious about the logarithm:
31
A: How many flags to reach 750 flag-weight?

Wladimir PalantI verified that the formula in Flag weight 750 reached? is correct (its prediction matches the flag value in my account exactly). I used the following Python snippet to calculate flag weight development after you reach flag weight 500: x = 500 for i in range(1, 550): x += 10 ** (1 - (x - 500) ...

I suspect I read that question before. His sampling of data points looks incredibly familiar.
Did reaching 750 previously award you something? A badge?
(next logical question: does reaching 536 helpful-flags still accomplish the same goal)

Reaching 749 got you the Marshal gold badge.
Reaching 536 helpful flags is only equivalent if you don't get a declined flag along the way.

right. good point :)

Now you get Marshal at 500 flags

6:08 PM
Ahh.. not 500 flag-weight... 500 helpful flags?
(answered my own question; just followed the link)

thanks, everyone :)

That's what we're here for.

@JeremyBanks Nope. Meta loves me.

6:15 PM
@PopularDemand: Why is it sometimes showing you with just 'popular' and a small icon, other times with a larger one and full desc? (is it because your reply immediately follows my message in some cases?)

It only expands if I post a message with enough vertical space for it to fit.

I see...

(That goes for everyone, not just me. Your ninth-most-recent message is the same way.)

Ahh.. didn't notice that.
Last question, then I promise to run away and quit disturbing the peace.
@PopularDemand: when I replied to you, I only linked to the question. When you replied to me, you linked directly to an answer. How did you get at the link that had the embedded anchor in it for the answer?

Hovering over dates/times for the exact time, for example.

Oh yeah. I'll stay right out of mathematics.... Linear Alg, Foundations of Math, and Discrete Math didn't agree with me too much.
For that matter, neither did Calc II.

@TimStone How many waves did you get through?

Uhh, good question. I had to jump on a call, so I stopped playing.

I got through about four and realized that it would probably continue for a long time, so I stopped

8:16 PM
I got to level 18 I think and then it wouldn't take the words I typed in. And then I discuvored it puts one in a different color and you have to type that first. But I noticed too late. ):

Yeah, isn't that annoying? It also gets kind of confusing when some of the words overlap and you can't tell where one begins and the other ends. |:

Okay, I only got up to about level 12 in expert mode
harder than I thought
It would be a bit more interesting if the words actually formed sentences
Once you "focus" on a word, I'd like for all the other ones to vanish

I couldn't even get past the first level.
... I probably shouldn't have tried to play on a phone.

The lesson learned is that phones are for playing WwF, of course.

Speaking of which, are there any programming-related apps I should look into that wouldn't show up on a general search for useful/popular apps?

8:26 PM
ok, this is taking too much time now
past wave 27 >_<
but obviously paused

Hahah

Okay, who downvoted my [status-completed] question. I'm hurt.

ok, wave 30 and it is getting tough (;

8:48 PM
level 32 ):

claps

I iz deadedededed now though

Does anybody know who I should poke to get this done? meta.serverfault.com/questions/2717/…

I see a lot of diamonds in the comments there... I would imagine that one of them can bring it up in the Teacher's Lounge if the usual "wait for a dev to browse through" method isn't doing it for you. Also, balpha and rchern have both been in here fairly recently, but I don't know if either of them qualifies as a reasonable person to poke.

@PopularDemand Thanks, I'll just wait it out then :)

Boohoo, you guys took all of my rep :(

Well, you deserved it. I voted to reopen, though.

Worf, played by Michael Dorn, is a main character in Star Trek: The Next Generation and in seasons four to seven of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. He also appears in the films based on The Next Generation. Worf is the first Klingon main character to appear in Star Trek, and has appeared in more Star Trek franchise episodes than any other character. Worf was the only character to be a regular in more than one live-action Star Trek series (While Miles O'Brien was featured in both The Next Generation and Deep Space Nine, he was not a regular cast member in the former series).
