@Moshe lolol
Oy

@mootinator - That's it? Oy? Did you at least vote to <strike>hellban</strike> close?
^-- I knew the guy in that article. sigh

@Moshe I'm currently working on getting the additional 500 rep to do that.
Although making huge format edits isn't the path to that :/

Q: NHibernate One-To-One

NitinI've an issue using one-to-one mapping. I've searched internet and found many solutions but none was satisfying. Most of the examples carry overhead of storing parent instance in child class. I want to use only parent Id in child class having foreign key constraint relationship but dont want to ...

@Moshe That's rather unfortunate. :/

@Moshe :(

Also, I don't really understand your troll comment.

@mootinator Here, have a gold star instead

Woohoo.

@TimStone - What don't you get? The fellow has the makings of a troll. Completely ignored the fact that his question is broad and has 3 close votes by demanding that his question is urgent and pinging me in a comment asking for help.

raises brow

@Moshe Don't think that's trolling so much as it's pure cluelessness

1:43 AM
Correct response: If you have an urgent question, post it in "The Sandbox" chatroom, which is for high priority questions like yours.
(^ Correct definition of trolling ^)

:D
Huh, I wonder why someone down voted this question.

2:03 AM
know what's famously awesome?
Having SamSaffron help me figure out how to ninja in some crazy ass code :D

\o/

omg, he's cool as hell to kill like an hour helping me figure something out that has potential reuse for others consuming his code in the future.

I want cool people to work with. :(

me too
we had a short talk about that too :p
my reasons for needing crazy ass code revolve around things that you and I have talked about before Tim

Aye.

2:15 AM
but scope this crazy code that I know works almost as fast as ADO.NET
    public static List<Events> Events_GetFutureEvents(string eventDate = null) {
        List<Events> l = new List<Events>();
        using (var con = DataAccessMaster.GetOpenConnection()) {
            l = con.Query<Events>( "Events_GetFutureEvents", new { EventDate = eventDate } ).ToList();
        }
        return l;
    }
technically I could just return from within the using statement
but I don't wanna get too crazy right off the bat
also, I'm not scoping for a null condition
err, a no-data condition

how goes things

Could be less stressful as always, but not bad beyond that I suppose. How about for yourself?

4:33 AM
Hello
Fell Down from My Royal Enfield :(

Ouch, hopefully you weren't hurt too much?

Its very painful.
Scratches on my elbow,knee and in hand.
Bloody street dogs.
Thank God,I fell on my left side if on right side my leg will burn,and thanks to leg-guard also

Well at least it wasn't as bad as it could have been in that case, although that's still quite unfortunate!

Ya I wasn't expecting that.

4:51 AM
@TimStone going well so far :)
@Manjot ouch, sucks.

@Sathya its paining friend :)

I'd imagine so

I like my Royal Enfield,but I wasn't expecting that will happen with me :(
@Sathya You too have Royal Enfield or You too fell down.

don't have any vehicle as of now

I came office by my Santro after this incident.

5:00 AM
you have a TB? @Manjot

@Sathya what is TB?

Thunderbird

@Sathya Electra

ok.

I want one! I want one!
Actually, I'd be in for three if I only had the disposable income to throw at such baubles.

5:21 AM
Oh look, there is a new bounties tab.

morning

G'morning

Very Good Morning :)

oh boy, just read what happened, glad you're still kinda ok.

Oh? What'd I miss?

5:34 AM
Hmm,I fell down from my Royal Enfield.Its paining my elbow,hand and knee.

Ouch.

I was at the speed of 80 Kmph

Dayum. Any protective gear?

On the highway,I messed up with car but safe
There was leg guard because which I got saved :)
Thank God, I fell down on left side if I'll fell on my right side I don't know what will happen?

I'm glad to hear you're more or less ok.

5:38 AM
Thanks George :)

I once took a car door in the upper portion of my right arm. (I almost took it in the chest, which would have been really bad.) I did a 180 to face the oncoming traffic. It was a white Lincoln Town Car that was behind me. I don't think I'll ever forget that. :)
Only a slightly different topic, when a client asks how long it would take to handle a "simple" form; don't believe them. There's no such thing as a simple form. :)

Them: "Can you do me this quick favor"... Me: "Sure"..... 5 hours later... damn it, this wasn't quick....

Yeah, pretty much.
Kinda like a friend asking you to help with moving.

:)

Fell Down from My Royal Enfield :(
Aww! Not nice. What happened to the bike?

lol bike is fine.

Hmm, I really didn't want to be debugging Lightning at 2:42 in the morning. sighs
(I wanted to be debugging other things instead, which may its own problem, but :P)

> tar: Cowardly refusing to create an empty archive

Hahah

7:11 AM
// This is an exception. If we are doing an uncached
// operation, then skip it for now since it will be parsed
// later.
Yeah, except for the part where it's not.
shakes fist Ah well, I suppose I should get back to work for the moment.

Gah! I've been leaving off the 'y' in 'delivery' all day.

Whoops, hahah

@TimStone Did the comments become stale?
A bit of a PITA when you're working a delivery page for a local restaurant.

It basically results in my calendar events not being cancelled or rescheduled correctly, apparently.
Ah yeah, I imagine so ;)
Speaking of deliveries, my Stack Exchange stuff is on the way \o/

Nice.
I still have a woot t-shirt sitting in it's bag, on my bookshelf.
I did open it, though.
Are you getting a t-shirt, stickers or both?

7:20 AM
The following shipped items from order #1227 have been updated with new shipping information:

1x Stack Exchange Pens
1x Mug
1x Beer Stein

None of the above. Even better.

hmm good idea, I should go and buy some Stack Exchange stuff

I've got the stickers and t-shirt already, heh, thanks to Jeff's generosity.

Is the mug a regular sized mug?
Or, is it one of those "I'm serious about my caffeine" sized mugs?

How would I get in India?

7:22 AM

I want to buy Hoody.How and Where will I get?

scratches head I think that makes it regular size.

@GeorgeMarian Yeah, I wasn't sure either, hahah
Based on the picture I'd say so
I'll let you know. ;)

hehe
I guess I could use the beer stein as my coffee mug. Or, is it a legit stein with a cover?

7:24 AM
Ah, crap...I still haven't signed up for DevDays. Should really get on that.
@GeorgeMarian Nah, you could use it as a mug:

@Sathya I know that,Will it be only 35$ or some extra amount would be added in it?

Nice. That could work as a coffee mug.

@Manjot Shipping will likely be expensive.

And, it would show that I'm really serious about my coffee. :)

@TimStone How would it reach India?

7:27 AM
It ships via FedEX

Is there any store of StackExchange in India also?
Can I open StackExchange Store in India?

@GeorgeMarian 25 up-votes Serious.

@GeorgeMarian It's still not your accepted beverage.

@GeorgeMarian no I am serious,Is it possible to open StackExchange Store in India?

7:29 AM
@TimStone USPS to India.

@Manjot shrug How would I know?
@badpssockpuppet Ha! That'd be a lot of scotch.

@GeorgeMarian Ok,I was just thinking to open Store in India.

I wanted to purchase some stuff, but shipping was.. expensive

Heh, that's actually fairly reasonable, comparatively.
I think the cheapest I could do on shipping was $10.50, and my stuff is only travelling ~350 miles.

What will be the way to have Store in India like Reebok,Nike,McDonald etc.

7:34 AM
hmm, I've got about.me sending their moo cards over to me.. shipping was $4.50

@Sathya Shipping rates vary greatly, depending how much they can squeeze the shipping companies for discounts.

Indeed.

hmm you should pair up with someone from India and share the costs

but 25$ is quite expensive.
Either to have own shipping company.How will we make profit?
Like how Nike showroom owners will earn?

Sometimes I forget just how big the Pacific ocean is (i.imgur.com)
also, why the hell am I still up?

7:38 AM
whoa

@jcolebrand you aren't. you're sleep chatting :p

Why the hell am I not done with this form yet?
Oh yeah, it was more involved than I imagined.

@Sathya most likely

Do anyone know where is the StackExchange Stores?
means address of Store or link for the same.

Yeah, it's just an e-Store, it doesn't like...physically exist. The URL is up there somewhere. --^

7:58 AM
oh hai Meta!

I wouldn't be too proud of that, considering they dropped the ball on that off-by-one-letter error, heh.

Yeah, I was a tad disappointed.

dictionary.com fared a bit better

You know, with so many online dictionaries providing a search thingamadong, I could go looking for a different dictionary to use.
Originaly, it was the m-w.com domain name that had me using it.

Oh, FFS Eve-Online...how many edge cases do I need to handle?

Using port in link and SSL is same?
like http:lol.com:8080 and https:lol.com is same or something different?

uh?
It isn't the same.

Thank you :)

11:27 AM
Hay, @Pekka, I saw something funny too. I am apparently a "top" user on ask different.
I saw a swag email. I on the second page, but just barely. Pretty funny considering my rep:
Just under 770.
No complaints here.
I just feel like I should have earned it. Perhaps I'll work on that site a bit later.

@Moshe heh, nice!
The average rep score on that site is really low, though. I wonder why?
The German.SE site has been running for only a few weeks, and the top user has already 3,500 points.
Is it because the user bases vote more on the German site, or is there some other reason?

The mobile theme is borked. This morning. Big chunks of unstyled content...
On SO. Meta looks fine

11:51 AM
@Pekka not sure. But I'm working on fixing that ;-)
@Pekka actually save that question for the next podcast.

@Moshe good idea. Is there a place to post questions for the next podcast?

Not sure. Perhaps joel@joelonsoftware.com?
@Pekka the sidebar, till we figure out where they really go.

@balpha oh...oh god.

admit, you love it

Note to myself: Never ever click on links directly, always remember to hover over the link to read it.

@OctavianDamiean Welcome to the interwebs. It's a series of tubes.

What's worse is I did hover over...

12:21 PM
Oh, what the hey. It's a like a horrible car crash. You don't want to see something nasty, but you still can't help looking.

Thing is, I thought it was like some sort of hidden feature, so I thought it was a "theme tune" rather than a Windows Theme. Like a computer will play Fur Elise if the fan is failing.

lol
That would be damn annoying.

Seriously. Who comes up with this crap? For example, I like Harry Potter, but I don't want to stare at some marketing drivel all day long.
2

the year 10/11s better not find out about that

Oh my god am I happy to not use Windows.

12:27 PM
(the theme, that is)

@OctavianDamiean what @tombull's link describes is not Windows related though
> This is an indication sent to the PC speaker from the computer's BIOS that the CPU fan is failing or has failed, or that the power supply voltages have drifted out of tolerance.

"This is a design feature of a detection circuit and system BIOSes developed by Award/Unicore from 1997 on"

And I strongly suspect the original publication date of the article was an April 1 :)

oh you're right.
Doesn't matter actually, there are enough other valid reason why I'm happy not to use Windows. :D

> Bear in mind that our HQ is a renovated fish processing plant, not the Wonka factory, and we're fresh out of Oompa Loompas to build these incredible things.

1:05 PM
@OctavianDamiean nah, Windows 7 is great!
The first Windows that they really got right. It's a pleasure to work with it. Really.

Windows 7 is good, still not got to grips with Libraries though.
Also that fact that it puts everything in C:\Users\tombull89 is annoying (AppData, My Documents, Pictures, Videos, Documents, Downloads). I'm kinda Geek-OCD so I'd want My Docs and then everything in that.

@Pekkasseriousaccount I agree that it is better than the other versions but is still is Windows.

@OctavianDamiean what do you use? OS X?

Ubuntu all the way.

Ah, okay. Nice.

1:18 PM
@Pekkasseriousaccount Actually the podcast is in about 7 hours. Might not be such a long time to remember the question ;-)
Google App Engine SDK just prompted for update. Now, I don't actually use that software. Should I remove it?

Hmmm, there's a typhoon landing tomorrow at around the same time my flight back is taking off.

@YiJiang sounds like fun.

@tombull89 Indeed. Just hoping (very hard) that the flight won't be cancelled
It's not very big, hmmm. They named it Haima - Seahorse. Forth typhoon of the year to get a name. 20 m/s wind, which is 72km/h, and it's not particularly big, so hopefully won't affect the flight.

1:34 PM
Well 72km/h cross-wind is quite a bit :D

1:49 PM
yawns I should probably stop working until 5 am if I have to wake up by 10, hrm.

5am, that is too late to go to bed.

Yeah, I'd rather wish I didn't have so much to do that it kept me up until then, but alas.

2:04 PM
Hello

'Ello

@spoulson Hello! Welcome to MSO Chat.

Sup!
Haven't been here in a long while

Not too much, in yet another teleconference unfortunately.
Hmm, tempted to get sushi for lunch today...wonder if I'll make it out of the house.

2:27 PM
@TimStone Your life is so hard.

More like depressingly repetitive and overwhelming, but. :P

1 hour later…
3:41 PM
People still alive in here?

@spoulson Yeah, what's up?

If your friend has put up a possibly interesting project on a site like GitHub, would it be in bad taste for the friend to offer it as an answer to a question asking for pretty much what that project does?
(e.g. self-promotion)
particularly if the question were a year old or so

I think it's considered okay as long as the poster is upfront about the affiliation with the project, i.e. makes an effort to avoid the appearance of spamming.
I know there are MSO posts that say that -- e.g. meta.stackoverflow.com/questions/47994/… -- although the mere existence of those posts may not deter spam flaggers.

I second that, I think the main point is when the topic is directly and specifically related

Hm, unintended side effect of the "multiple up arrow key presses to edit older posts" feature: it's harder to edit non-final lines of posts.

3:51 PM
ok, thanks

I've decided that more restaurants around here need to deliver. Or I need someone who just picks up food for me. Or I need to just be less exhausted. All acceptable options.

Are you in a rural area or something?

Sort of. :P

@TimStone I would like to take this opportunity to remind you that I have offered to pick your food up for you. You just didn't like my totally reasonable delivery timetable (or fee), for some reason.

This is true.

Not sure why this was approved, but I think it needs two people to reject it quick: stackoverflow.com/suggested-edits/63919

Q: Comments are always wrong -- right, or no?

blundersRandomly ran across this blog on how one should never read comments, and thought to myself all the comments I've read that were either wrong, dated, or simply confusing. Should one simple never read comments and/or just use regex replace pattern to delete... :-) ...just kidding, but really, maybe...

I thought everything on the Internet was true?!

@spoulson well, it is, why would someone lie on the internet?

@jzd The hell? Indeed, I put in a reject vote.

@jzd I did the seond

Q: I cheated on the Disciplined badge, how bad is it ?

Scorpi0I was looking for badges I didn't have yet, and I saw the Disciplined badge. So I deleted an answer of mine with 3+ votes, and waited. 5 minutes later, sweet, a new badge! Then I go to my answer again, and undeleted it. No problem at all, and I keep the badge! What will happen? Will my badge ...

The system works!

@PopularDemand which system?

@jcolebrand Multiple reviewers.

@PopularDemand yatta!

@spoulson What happens if two statements on the Internet are contradictory? Here, I'll help: Everything on the Internet is false, including this statement.

@PopularDemand but ... then it would be ... and that means ... head asplode! ... over 9000 ... memes ... losing ... everything ...

jzd
5:13 PM
@TimStone @Trufa, thanks I would have rejected myself but I was out of votes. I put a feature request in to increase the edit vote limit: meta.stackoverflow.com/questions/95931/…

@PopularDemand It disturbs me how many times I've seen the system needing to work.

jzd
@TimStone, I was opposed to multiple reviewers until they added the improve option. But it seems like every day I see something that makes me think multiple reviewers are a good choice.

I'm just amazed at the stuff that some people will approve.
3
Thankfully most of it is ultimately rejected though, so.

Yeah, it think most of it is quite good though
I once hurried to approve, there was no way that should be changed, but i misread
I was fixed very very quickly
I'm not saying its good

jzd
Yes, I am one of the haters. But my hate is warming up and I understand better now. Yet, I am not ready to accept multiple reviewers if one of the reviewers is trying to edit as well. Maybe a solution would be to allow multiple edit requests.

5:46 PM
>:-D

@tombull89 I once dowvoted someone to 666
I' not sure if I did him a favor
:)

@Trufa haha.

6:12 PM
Whoa Firefox 5.0 is out today
4

@spoulson what? shut up
why are they already moving to a new big rev? I guess the former UI and etc didn't quite catch on?

@jcolebrand Wow, a stable release, too. Looks like they decided they were falling too far behind Chome in Version Number Technology.

I know right

Upgrading now
brb

wow ... so we've got that going for us now
@spoulson let us know how it is

6:17 PM
oh neat
Mostly it's the same look/feel
But now you can "pin tab as app tab"
Makes it sticky
Kinda like Win7 task bar apps

well so they've finally caught up with chrome there :p

Hmm, they also implement a Compiz Scale-like preview mode. Shift+Ctrl+E shows all open tabs scaled to fit.
Ok, so business as usual for me I guess.

@PopularDemand You got starred in another room; we decided you're not funny enough for a star here

@MichaelMrozek Odd, considering that you're the one who oneboxed my post in the first place.

Just letting them know how far behind this room they are

6:32 PM
Hmm.. apparently I've been behind the times. All these aforementioned FF features exist in 4.0 also. Not sure what's new in 5.0

@spoulson yeah, so I noticed
ok all, bbl, things to do

@spoulson Wikipedia sez: "Improved HTML 5 and CSS3 support; Improved overall performance; A Do-Not-Track option (disabling the ability for advertisers to track browsing habits and install cookies on the computer); Stability and security improvements"

Sounds ok to me
I kinda wish the private mode doesn't close tabs. I like how Chrome does it in just a new window for incognito mode

Also, "A draft roadmap indicates that Mozilla hopes to release versions 6 and 7 in 2011 following the release of Firefox 5 in June 2011. These versions will be smaller incremental updates, primarily focusing on improving speed, stability and security."

Sounds like minor revision changes to me
Chrome is winning the battle in the illusion of progress

6:44 PM
There's an additional subtlety to this: Internet Explorer is still doing monolithic, multi-year releases.
No matter how well IE9 competes with FF4 & Chrome (10? Whatever...), by the end of the year it's going to look out-of-date.
It's the old "planned obsolescence" trick: change the body style regularly, and folks will keep upgrading, whether or not they really need to.
If some core rendering-engine fixes come along for the ride... Well, shucks, now the devs have a reason to keep knocking cruddy ol' IE too!

Is the live podcast through already?
Where do I have to look?
ie. where does it take place?

@Pekkasseriousaccount It's usually in an hour

Ah, thanks! @Michael
So they do video now?

I'd suggest the topic line here, but it's a week old: chat.stackexchange.com/rooms/512/se-podcast-live-chat
They do

so change it

6:54 PM
Nice!

@RebeccaChernoff Well I would need to know the answer first :). Looks like livestream.com/stackexchange says 4:30 EDT today

So was there ever a reason to switch to IE9?
It's still an annoying browser

@spoulson You love Microsoft and felt really bad about ditching IE6?
Your corporate overlords said to you, "No installing software outside of Windows Update!" and you obey?
You enjoy pain, but like it in small doses?
You hate Google?
Opera quit working and you've been living under a rock for the last decade?

All valid reasons
to quit that job
Thankfully I recently quit my last job that had corporate overlords filtering my internets and locking down my PC.

7:08 PM
You can scratch my question that is starred to the right by the way. I got confused by the "Month" and "All" tabs - the Apple site's top user is indeed above 10k already

7:44 PM
@Pekkasseriousaccount Which question?
Yay, I've been permitified!
Only 3+ hours standing at the DMV.

Wow, it must be the season or something... I've gotten two incredibly snide comments on sites in the last day.
I esp. like the one on dba.se.com where I was told not to ask questions.

@Hogan Shut your FACE

Makes me want to rush to use dba.se.com NOT

@Hogan hehe

@jcolebrand Keep your people in line

7:56 PM
oh... is it podcast time... or did I miss it already?

THANKS! phew... that wuz close.

yo gents, if you had to abbreviate "Chapter" what'd you use?

Ch
Unless I was talking to a Gent., then I'd say Chap. (Sorry for the pun).

Unless you're trying to be Web 2.0; then it's Chaptr

8:03 PM
or maybe chapt.er

@Moshe the one about how the top German.SE users have more rep than the top Apple.SE users (which isn't true, the top Apple user is at 1ok+)
8 hours ago, by Pekka's serious account
Is it because the user bases vote more on the German site, or is there some other reason?

8:31 PM
hello

@OctavianDamiean Hello.

8:52 PM
@Shog9 Actually, even Microsoft wants people to drop IE6: theie6countdown.com/default.aspx
