Q: What is the effect of falling to your death in Metroid Prime 3?

JoshIn Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, what happens when you fall to your death? I've done it many, many, many times and I just seem to pick up when I left off... I think I lose energy, but I'm not sure? Does it count as a continue? (Does the game even track the number of times I have continued after dy...

For example

> In Die2Nite, what are all the ways to generate Action Points?

Q: How can I tell if a corpse is safe to eat?

Kaestur HakarlI am playing a human wizard, and I just killed a monster, leaving a corpse on the ground. How do I tell whether it is safe to eat this corpse? I leave the monster unspecified because I am interested in "how can I figure out whether this is edible," rather than whether any particular monster is e...

Prevents crazy freehand circles and regexes appearing all over meta ;-)

Reputation sez bad titles pay off! :P

11:01 PM
@radp This title sucks too.
I get that it's a draw, but seriously, the title sucks.

@RebeccaChernoff NO! That title IS AWESOME
just like this one:

Does the title give me adequate information to know what the question is about?
No.

Q: How do I pick a wife?

C. RossIn the Guild 2 I'm getting ready to court my first spouse, and from a guide I read it recommended picking a spouse whose class complimented mine (ie: Patron for Craftsman). How do I determine the class of a potential spouse, they seem to all say 'Unemployed`?

Same.
Like I said, I get that it's a title that draws you in, but it doesn't tell me what the question is about.

Q: Problem converting .ico in byte array to Image object

rchernI am trying to take favicons and add them to a dynamic image that I am creating. See StackFlair. The website code works fine locally, and on one shared hosting server. blah blah, free hosting plan, you get what you pay for, blah blah My trouble is that I get an exception from a new hosting set...

11:02 PM
The tags do. But, I know what you're saying

Your title didn't say you were using C#!

Q: In Civ V, can I improve a resource that is surrounded on all 6 sides by mountains?

Nick TThere are some gems sitting in the middle of a mountain range, beset on all sides by what must be sheer cliffs. Are they forever out of reach or is there some tactic to sneak workers in?

I like that way

@radp Good point, I'll edit and correct. Thanks for pointing it out. (:

I agree with you personally @Rebecca, which is why I try and put the game title into my questions. But I also love those other titles, so I can't agree there
@NickT That was a good question

Drove me nuts
grrr

Q: My wife is stuck in a wall, can I save her?

uncle bradMy wife, Lady Gray, is "stuck in a wall" in Fairfax Gardens, our Marital Home. I can't actually see her, but the glowing trail leads me to the guard house (on the left when facing Fairfax manor) when I set my family as my target. Is there any hope?

LOL

Sounds like it should be on DIY.SE

I totally get what Jeff is saying here.

A: Why is the first tag sometimes in the <title> tag of some questions?

Jeff AtwoodNote that this screenshot and post is already out of date. See related discussions about tags and titles at: HOWTO: Writing Good Titles When should we remove pseudo-tags from a title? Please note my comment from July 29, 2009 To be clear, I think it is fine to duplicate the tags in the ti...

> Either you already organically have the most important (as judged by tags) words in the title.. or we add them for you. Since we kinda have to, because "how do I format a string?" is a LOT less useful than "c# - how do I format a string?" But yes, in a perfect world, people would write perfect titles like "how do I format a string in C#?"...

@NickT ROFLMAO
@RebeccaChernoff Good, could you please explain:
> Note that this screenshot and post is already out of date

@TheUnhandledException I'm going to assume that the new best-effort title analyzer (proper name @radp-pending) knows well enough not to modify your page title based on what you did already include.

I think he's referring to where the tag checks to see if parts split on "-" are contained in the title?
You've got Metroid Prime 3, the tag is metroid-prime-corruption, and your question doesn't have a tag prepended now.

stupid work and stupid clients and stupid paychecks ... it's like people expect me to stay out of chat :P

@drachenstern I know right? What's this whole "responsibility" nonsense?

thanks all on the congrats ;) and on not downvoting the crap outta me ;)
@TimStone takes away from the whole minecraft bit eh?

I actually haven't played today on account of my passing out briefly every five or so hours today...which is rather unpleasant.

I'm going to enjoy my 12 day unemployment vacation hehehe.

My laptop just went totally ballistic

11:11 PM
of course, 4.5 of those days aren't work days anyway.

@RebeccaChernoff Yeah I'm just not sure why it's out of date, I was asking why puts the tags into the titles. Your answer gave me a perfect answer

@TimStone StackExchangeâ„¢ DottedStyle TagScrewerâ„¢

(which is a good thing, I never liked dotted style tags.)

@RebeccaChernoff You're right, it doesn't

@TheUnhandledException If you took another screenshot and circled the same spots, you'd be circling different info.

@RebeccaChernoff Sorry. I'm slow today
Which is why I am having trouble fixing bugs I suppose ;-)

11:13 PM
I can only hypothesize on my explanation. I'm not staff. (;
@TheUnhandledException only today?

pl.programming-lang makes me cry :(

@radp Ah, excellent. Good ol' TagScrewer.
@drachenstern Yeah, I shook my head at that.

@RebeccaChernoff Yeah, I'd like to think I'm sharp at least sometimes ;-)

@radp Yeah, I think we were chatting somewhere about what the hell was up with that.

11:16 PM
Hahahaha awesome.
Comment on someone's answer: thanks a lot, you helped me reach the answer

Followed by him posting an answer and self-accepting

@RebeccaChernoff fracking leaches

Granted, the answer kind of changed, but still. webapps.stackexchange.com/q/10222/416

A: How can I customize the look of Thunderbird's mailbox list, message list, and headers?

BlenderThunderbird is written is XUL. It's Mozilla's markup language, and it's powered by XULRunner. Basically, it's GUI-oriented XML. The thing that styles the whole application is actually just a simple .css file. If you find it, you can then find the elements you are looking for and just tweak the C...

Q: Proposal: Remove discipline prefix from the Arxiv-style tags

Charles StewartI answered the Arxiv tags or not question so: The current AA.BB.CCCCC tags are unwieldy —a defect in a question tagging scheme, not so bad in an article classification scheme— and AA is nearly always cs. The exceptions are, AFAICT, misclassifications. If we simply dropped ...

Yeah :P

@TimStone Yeah, I commented on that. Hope it isn't rude. |:

@TheUnhandledException 10 reps to you too good sir.
Can we change the room title to "Upvote Exchange" maybe?

@RebeccaChernoff Hm...I don't think so in this case. I mean, if the comment on the original answer had just been edited in to the answer itself, then there was zero reason for the OP to post his own answer.
So not giving him anything when he should have got the check.... :P

11:23 PM
Heh, yeah, was also considering adding this comment, but might be over the line:
> Alternatively, you could have asked @phwd to edit his comment into the answer and then accepted his answer rather than posting your own.

@radp LOL.
@radp Thank you :-)
Ok well I am off to find some foods

Enjoy

Thanks @Tim
Catch you guys later

comment posters are sometimes (often?) idiots ...

A: Add MSDN Subscription

drachensternI found this to be an intriguing question so asked a Microsoft sales representative via their chat live option: This chat can be recorded for quality & training purposes. Welcome to Microsoft. Your estimated wait time is 0 minutes and 1 seconds. Hello my name is Alisha. How can I help you?...

@TheUnhandledException lmao > "[A] chicken is an object that you can physically apply force to. You may not be so lucky with your wife."

@drachenstern I upvoted that!

11:29 PM
@TheUnhandledException thought you were leaving? :p
@radp er @RebeccaChernoff did you try creating an icon from the memorystream? or anything besides an image?

@drachenstern I am, was responding to support requests before heading out

Hm, can't read onebox text in the preview.. makes note
