@ShadowTheVaccinatedWizard ah right, VPS rebooted due to maintenance at their nodes, and the bot doesn't auto-reboot because it runs as a tmux session rather than a systemd service (due to it not really being compatible with systemd)
Bot started.

13:00
@ProgramFOX so? ;-)
@ProgramFOX why?! :-(
@AnnZenat1YearAnniversary topper
@ShadowTheVaccinatedWizard tricky (?)
@ShadowTheVaccinatedWizard I enjoy freedom, silence, and money :P I also think that's a strange question. Getting kids is like a 20+ year long, life-changing commitment. The question before getting into any such commitment should be "are you sure you want this?", rather than asking the opposite to someone who doesn't.
@ProgramFOX you say it in a way that sounds like "I don't want kids now and will not want in the future", like @Tink for example. This is fine! I just wonder why. If you meant you don't want now, and have no opinion about future, then I take my question back. :D
@ShadowTheVaccinatedWizard I do mean now and future, but my point still stands :P
When I was 20, if someone would have asked me if I want kids I'd probably say "Not now, but probably in the future, didn't think about it yet."
Anyway, expect your parents to push towards kids at some point.... that's how things go here, with most people I know who were too slow with kids. ;)
13:09
I don't really think my parents will
Pushing people towards getting kids is such an asshole thing to do though :/
@ProgramFOX nah, basic instinct IMO
Like, if they want to, they will eventually, if they don't they don't
No, I don't think it's acceptable to put peer pressure on someone about a life-changing, long-lasting commitment
It would be bad thing if you say firmly "I don't want kids" and they push anyway, but otherwise... I see it as a good thing.
People, at least in the old generations, see having kids as a success. Parents push their children towards success. That's how I see it.
yeah, I mean, I find that the "kids = success" equation makes no sense :P
It's like the parents who push their kids towards professional sports, when feasible.
@ProgramFOX well you're a newer generation
13:12
If having kids makes someone happy, that's great and they should totally go for it
I'm in the middle, lol.
but "success" doesn't fit one definition
For me kids are not success, but still, something important to have.
Kind of my commitment to this world as being part of it.
then you should :)
I did my part, with a bonus. ;)
13:14
@ShadowTheVaccinatedWizard Yeah, though sometimes parents tend to be careless. It's not unusual to see parents at a rather casual kids' sports competition being angry when their kid doesn't perform well in their view :(
Well, bonus wasn't my idea, I would have been fine with two kids.
@ProgramFOX true, that's a downside, and sign of something different, which is parents who try to fulfill their own personal wishes/fantasies that they failed to do themselves through their children.
And this, I don't agree with or like.
yeah true
I was never good in sports... of any kind; My son is good, he already beats me in basketball. But I don't push him in any way, he'll do what he want to do, in his own time.
that's great :D
He just started to learn how to swim recently, and I believe he'll also be a good swimmer. I didn't have any lessons as a kid, learned by myself, which isn't very good.
I can swim, sure... but not in a good or efficient way. lol
13:20
we had swimming lessons at primary school
but if you didn't really have prior swimming experience, then damn, were those horrible
"okay now jump here in the deep side of the pool" EXCUSE ME YOU WHAT
@ProgramFOX huh! He also have those, started this week, alongside his private swimming lessons.
private swimming lessons are amazing
glad I had those
:)
What about chess? Still full time player and/or moderator on lichess? @Pro
Yeah. Somewhat less active than before, but that's not unusual, the time period of "high schooler with way too much free time" has been over for quite a while :P
yeah lol
Don't remember if asked before, but do you plan to live/work abroad in the future? Or stay in your original country? @Pro
13:29
I don't know. All options are open, I guess. I don't have specific plans to move at the moment, but as I said, all options are still open
@ProgramFOX Fair (enough ;))
@ShadowTheVaccinatedWizard wage (?)
