I did a hackish solution by using the CPU in addition to the GPU on some placeholders and the embedding layer, meaning I allocate a lot of "regular" RAM in addition to VRAM, at the expense of some performance

It takes ~170 seconds longer per epoch, but I can train it again, which is what matters

the dataset preps were done before I screwed up that part, but before I added the changes. It's fine! :D

So removing that line, once it boots again, she should have more relevant replies

The problem was:

fullMatch[0] = fullMatch[0].title()

which, when a word like that's is the first one, both that and s is interpreted as separate words, so both are capitalized

This seems to work:

if "'" in fullMatch[0]:
            splitMatch = fullMatch[0].split("'")
            splitMatch[0] = splitMatch[0].title()
            fullMatch[0] = "'".join(splitMatch)
        else:
            fullMatch[0] = fullMatch[0].title()
