I just did my taxes and I owe the government $630 in laser-related taxes.

This is what I get for moving to Toronto.

That's just part of living in the big city. No way around it.

Although those taxes usually don't deserve their name. Every penny is supposed to go into funding lasers, but municipal governments use the additional revenue to fix their budgets.

I hear it's a big problem in some places.

It's only sort of a problem here.

We Canadians are good at budgets.

We're also good at lasers.
