I didn't mean to bring up a whole legal discussion in comments to Monica's answer, I really only meant to point out the possible reasons for the delay between the promise of communication and it actually occurring. I can entirely understand not wanting to go to the trouble and expense of involving lawyers... but a company like SE cannot afford to neglect the possibility that it might occur, their ToS notwithstanding.

@Monica, I hope you don't mind me pinging you again (as I know this sort of experience can make any notification quite stressful), but I'm honestly quite curious what you meant by "By analogy, scheduling a meeting late in the day on Christmas eve with a devout Christian (who has obligations that night and not just the next day) would not be ideal." Actually I know what you meant by that, but as a Christian myself I feel like I must be missing something haha :)
To clarify, I mean that I don't do anything special on Christmas eve and pretty much just attend the Christmas church service on Christmas day. I also want to clarify that I'm not in any way offended by your comment. Not sure if you would think I might be but I want to be crystal clear: I'm just curious, and perhaps wondering if I should be doing something more :)
