@Martin looks like it's already done. On what meta site you think it's missing? — Shadow Wizard 6 mins ago

This shows 172 results. I have to admit that I don't know where to find number of sites in the Network.

@Martin well, one is the MSE question so it's actually 171
@Mithrandir huh. So weird. Maybe just an overlook?

Or intentional.
Due to meta drama there in the past.
people were complaining that the mods weren't active enough, and I'm guessing Shog might not have wanted to risk dragging that up again

8:45 AM
@Mithrandir oh.... interesting.

@ShadowWizard That's long in the past. SFF has a very positive chat culture now.

Regarding the suggestion to post on MathOverflow Meta - I'll wait at least a few days.

@Martin ok, your call. :)

A short discussion started under this meta question: No “2018: A year in moderation” here?.
It was mainly related to some metas missing the post, but feel free to discuss anything related to these posts here.
Does somebody know whether there is indeed a plan to post this on all per-site-metas? If yes, this is still an ongoing process, right? — Martin 27 mins ago
@Martin looks like it's already done. On what meta site you think it's missing? — Shadow Wizard 20 mins ago
@Martin I noticed this on three different child metas (Stack Overflow, Super User and Open Source beta), so I just assumed (perhaps wrongly) it would be on all of them. Do you have another example of a meta site that doesn't have such a post? — Mureinik 19 mins ago
@ShadowWizard I did not see anything on MathOverflow Meta. However, MO is a somewhat special case. (It's part of Stack Exchange network and also to some extent independent. But perhaps we should wait a bit to see - maybe it's going to be posted later.) — Martin 16 mins ago
Notice that some messages might be moved here from another chatroom - they will probably appear before my short description of the room above.
So far, we have notice only two metas without such post: MathOverflow and Science Fiction & Fantasy.

9:02 AM
13 messages moved from Shadow's Den

Since this discussion about per-site-metas where the post of this kind is missing is a digression from the topic of this question we can continue it in chat if needed. — Martin 21 secs ago

I'm here for moderation drama. Is this the right place?

So far no drama here - but if it comes, I'm pretty sure you'll help to moderate it.

Oh, I like the preemptive measures ;)

So if there are 173 communities in Stack Exchange, and there are 172 results with one of them on Meta Stack Exchange, perhaps it's correct that only two sites are missing.

9:14 AM
@Martin he can't without being RO.... @rene has no shiny diamond. ;)
@Martin probably, though the search might find something else, I didn't check them all.

@rene In any case, if you are asking about the drama mentioned above, I am not familiar with SciFi site, so I don't really know much about that.

@Mith does, but not pingable here.

@ShadowWizard ssssttttt ....
@Martin let me check that number as it is notoriously misreported on several places

Yeah sometimes they count Area 51 and StackApps, sometimes they don't...

Q: Stack Exchange community count mismatch

ArulkumarI see some mismatch with the Stack Exchange site counts. In Meta stack Exchange page it shows "A list of all 151 Stack Exchange" sites In Stack Exchange page it shows "A list of all 153 Stack Exchange" sites And in the Stack Exchange Tour section it describes "Stack Exchange is a network of ...

but the dupe is answered by the wizard

outdated answer... :/

Popup in the top bar says: "A list of all 174 Stack Exchange sites."

Fixed! Answer edited to be more "generic".

9:37 AM
$.get('https://api.stackexchange.com/2.2/sites?pagesize=500&filter=!6Oe78nmjjzwCi', function(data){
var type = [];
for(var i=0; i<data.items.length; i++) {
  var item = data.items[i];
  type[item.site_type] = (type[item.site_type] ||0) + 1;
}
console.log(type);

});
that returns main_site: 174 meta_site: 172

Yup no meta site for StackApps and MSE.
Guess that's the most reliable count one can get. :)

So there are 172 per site metas.

Indeed, including Area 51 Discussion Zone.

After changing the search to 2018: a year in moderation is:q the number of results drops to 168.

@Martin huh, smart. Forgot we can do it on se.com search, lol :)
So it's missing from 5 meta sites.
Now to find which....
Guess script can do it.

9:59 AM
Is Russian Stack Overflow included in the count of 172: ru.meta.stackoverflow.com/questions ?
And Portuguese Stack Overflow: pt.meta.stackoverflow.com/questions ?
SciFi, MO and the three language mutations would give together the 5 missing metas.

@Martin yes, those are in

@Martin this would need to be hand checked but based on some rough scripting these are the sites where Shog9 didn't post last days:
not posted on:
VM1903:32 scifi.meta
VM1903:32 spanish.meta
VM1903:32 meta.mathoverflow.net
VM1903:32 pt.meta.stackoverflow
VM1903:32 cs50.meta
VM1903:32 ja.meta.stackoverflow
VM1903:32 emacs.meta
VM1903:32 ru.meta.stackoverflow
VM1903:32 rus.meta

VM1903:32 stellar.meta
VM1903:32 conlang.meta
VM1903:32 quantumcomputing.meta

due to my testng I'm now IP banned for the API so I can't run the script anymore
/cc @ShadowWizard
Here is what I have put together so far:

var type = [], meta = [];

  var item = data.items[i];
  type[item.site_type] = (type[item.site_type] ||0) + 1;
  if (item.site_type === 'meta_site') {
  meta.push(item);
  }
}
console.log(type);
console.log(meta);
function fetchPosts(page) {
  $.get('https://api.stackexchange.com/2.2/users/620/network-activity?pagesize=100&fromdate=1546128000&filter=!*LYih5k7LckYRb1e&&key=FnyqbV6Dhy4*NgmzgGhbJg((&page=' + page, function(dat

@rene ouch. But it should return some "back off" value, no? So you know how much to wait before next call?
@rene ohhh.... I was thinking more of screen scraping the search results of se.com, not using the API for that.

2:58 PM
@ShadowWizard yeah, tried to stay safe by calling once every 10 seconds but I was hammering on other end-points as well to see if I could more easily get that data and I had to diagnose what I believe is a paging bug.

hmm...

@ShadowWizard scraping would require navigating, that would be come pretty complex as well.

@rene not with jQuery ;)

You give that a go then :)
