:(
@ShadowWizard I always hope that Israel gets well as soon as possible
Israel is a beautiful nation
Thanks, every nation has beautiful sides.
But I consider Israel to be different, it involves Jesus
So Israel is special
Yeah, looks like it's a focal point for religion, not sure if it's good thing - religion has that habit of causing wars. Though the current one isn't really a religious war.
And your people are wonderful
20:28
@ShadowWizard yes. One day I want to visit Israel
@ShadowWizard You're welcome
@ShadowWizard I like the term about it being a war of good versus evil
And if God wants good (Israel) will soon win this war
It's so sad to know that there are several hostages suffering so much, and so many who may have already died (besides those who have already died)
:(

@Marco that would be gross misrepresentation (and gross oversimplification)
Regardless of whether one might 'pick a side', both the Israeli forces and Hamas have committed unspeakable atrocities at some point in this most recent conflict
@TylerH I disagree, but I respect your opinion
@TylerH I disagree, but I respect your opinion
I hope you respect my opinion too
What atrocities is Israel committing?
Hamas is a terrorist group
This is probably the wrong venue for this conversation...

Q: If you're gonna talk Politics, you must respect those who disagree

Shog9This is sort of a follow-up to two past discussions: Toward a philosophy of Chat Does the Be Nice policy require SE users to "be nice" to people who are not SE users (e.g. public figures)? Over the past year, there's been an uptick in discussions of politics in chat. JUST LOOK AT THIS CHART! ....

"If y'all wanna talk about politics, good on ya - this is important stuff, and deserves to be discussed. We have an entire site dedicated to the topic (politics.stackexchange.com), and even sites that aren't dedicated to politics can still have civil political discussions (chat.stackexchange.com/transcript/48205/2016/11/8).";
I'm aware of that post - I was there when it was written and was in the rooms that sparked its creation. I still don't think that the Tavern is necessarily the correct venue to discuss it, since it's a particularly contentious topic that is close to home to several regulars in this room.
Ok. Yeah, I know you live in Israel too.
@Mithical I'm sorry, but I occasionally see people talking about politics in chat rooms and I never see a comment like yours indicating a reprimand.
So it's forbidden to talk about politics here in this room?
Just so I know.
21:22
@JNat Probably simple psychology. Same reason why people go to their friends, family or a therapist to do one-way communication about a matter that hurts them. It feels good to share a burden, so one doesn’t have to carry it by oneself, and even better if one can see that one’s not the only person looking at things these ways.
Sometimes one just wants acknowledgement for their views.
@Marco I didn't say discussing politics was completely verboten. I suggested that maybe this isn't the right venue for an in-depth discussion of the intricacies of the I/P conflict. You can do what you want with that suggestion.
@Mithical Ok, thanks.

@Mithical It's not Israel vs. Palestine, it's Israel vs. Hamas (terrorist group).
That's not what I said. Please don't put words in my mouth.
"I/P conflict"
I/P conflict I read as Israel vs. Palestine
But if you prefer, it's a Israel/Hamas (terrorist group) conflict, not Israel/Palestine conflict.
If this modification makes a difference for you, the adjustment has been made, but for me it is all synonymous.
