@rene Voted to reopen. By the way, there's already a completed reopen review with a Leave Closed outcome, so that may impede it (unless the first reopen vote was cast today).
@Martin somwhat related. What you need to do here first is "nomalize" the different ways a country is spelled in location to a single value for that country, then do the top as offered in the other examples.
I might get back to that query when I have more time.
Since the MarkDown in my comment is broken, I'll just add the link once more here: User List: Top N - Ukraine- with false positive exclusions. (Moreover, because I copy-pasted it from elsewhere, I linked to a query for MO rather than SO.)
Only after your ping I have noticed that the part with exclusions was still case sensitive.
I do not think there is something impressive there - for any country one could go on and on, adding further cities, towns, villages, districts.
One thing I should keep in mind: When I edit a query and I want to test it, it is better to run it on a smaller site (such as MO) than on a big site (like SO).
Yeah, I have this idea to move some of that info in a table. I'll use your query as inspiration and see if I can come-up with something that is generalized and still able to meet your functionality.
@Martin yeah. If we only have a free text field to go on and not a constrained mandatory field like country code you'll need to adjust and adapt for ever.
