@user1271772 I agree it makes sense and is logical but..... that's just not how things work, especially on Stack Overflow and Meta Stack Exchange. The long time active users on those sites are too used to the current system to the point they'll automatically oppose any idea to change it. What you said was suggested many times, in many forms, always to be disagreed with i.e. getting LOTS of downvotes.

Though now with the "Welcome Wagon" project, this might get a new boost, since seeing your post at -30 doesn't feel very welcoming.... but we're not there yet.

I'd wait few months for the new CoC to kick in and for people to adjust to the changes before starting new feature request asking to limit visible negative score.
