@Fundamental the plan to merge chat.meta.SE to chat.SE, so I presume all those weird thingies will be ironed out

is it possible to ping a user who made his answer as community wiki? He's doing a good job but would need to be told that this: stackoverflow.com/a/28154884/1699210 is not useful and that : stackoverflow.com/q/9848300/1699210

5:14 PM
@bummi you pinged?

Hi, sorry for bothering
I struggled about some of your answers, nice job, but some of them should just be closed

Yes. I agee. (I only transcribed the OP's answers BTW)

ohh... then see my comment as moot @BrianTompsett
on a related note: you submitted an edit-suggestion removing the "solution" from the question

@BrianTompsett yes, I know, but this one isn't an answer at all stackoverflow.com/a/28154884/1699210
maybe it's a duplicate and should be closed

if you suggest edits you should strive to improve all the other points, too. (For now I expanded a bit)

5:18 PM
the other one is simple typographic and should be closed too

When I suggest edits I try and improve what I can. I pick up a few typos and grammar points when I go through. I only started suggesting edits when the answer was a huge slab of code that should have been in the answer (originally)

@BrianTompsett but I was not about to criticize you at all

@bummi My bad. I was doing some re-tagging of questions relating to web api testing and there were a number of old question where Rusncope was a good fit. I realize there is a fine line regarding what is and isn't acceptable. I'll be more careful in the future.

I started to flag a few as closed, but still have 37 of these in the close queue

@BrianTompsett I know the queue is ... aeheamm exhausting you might post a "cv-pls" here for the bad ones

5:23 PM
My actual goal was to empty out list of questions I could answer those that had already been answered. It began to be hard to find unanswered ones, until I read the meta article I cite when I move the answer to a community wiki

@BrianTompsett I like what you do, but a few are not worth it

Thanks. For the heads up. I do read the questions and answers fairly carefully when deciding what to "re process". I'm actually working them in the order of the number of views BTW
My search: "[solved]" answers:0 closed:no isaccepted:no views:3000..4000

@bummi I understand.

@DarrelMiller nothing personal, peace?

5:43 PM
@bummi Sure. I'm very happy there are users like you folks who are constantly monitoring what is being posted. I've been a Stackoverflow user for a long time but, I'm new as a Developer Advocate. Need to find a happy balance for providing helpful content without being "promotional".

@DarrelMiller I'm sure you'll find a balance, best luck

@Stijn yeah, and I responded. did you get my reply?

6:52 PM
@AnnaLear ah yes just now. If it's not too much trouble, ping Joe for me, thanks :)

will do. I think he's on his way home right now because we're experiencing a bit of a snowpocalypse here in NY, but I'll grab him when he comes online again

Great. I'll be afk for a bit to fix dinner meanwhile.

@anna I hope everyone is alright there

all good so far, but it only just started really snowing.

@JanDvorak but, with what you compare Non_unique?

Can't I use booleans like that?
In that case I should at least remove the not

@JanDvorak supposedly in MySQL you should use "is not" not just "not"

It's been ages since I've last done SQL...
Should I just convert it to CW?

@gunr2171 what have you started?

I know the edit was invalid because it made no sense the where clause with the not something=0/1

@gunr2171 isn't that the copy of book page question asker?

8:39 PM
?? (rene)
@rene I haven't started anything! I just don't want to engage with the guy anymore. It will only lead to useless fights on the internet

Do I get auto-flagged if I roll-back my own edits multiple times in a row?

Yes, but you might try to verify for sure
@gunr2171 to bad Bart isn't here then...

Shamelessly added @Braiam's link. Thanks!

@rene oh, I see. I don't know the history of that asker.

@JanDvorak IMO, only if there's a difference on X% of characters

@gunr2171 so weird...

Based on this.
The community user on GL has cast 83 more downvotes than me.

@J. Musser Speaking of dupes-please thank Frank for the question on Meta about changing wording for closing dupes! I intend to add a comment when I can word something other than "good idea!"

Q: Should the closed as duplicate message be altered?

FrankHere's what the closed-as-duplicate message looks like: marked as duplicate by johndoe1, johndoe2, johndoe3, johndoe4, johndoe5 May 5 '55 at 5:55 This question has been asked before and already has an answer. If those answers do not fully address your question, please ask a new question....

Thanks for that, Frank.

@Frank The community user on Math has case 6947 more downvotes than me. But I'm getting there... me: 15023, Community: 21970.

@Fundamental wow, you have a ways to go yet
that'll be a great milestone
you'll be the most pessimistic math.se user of all.

Sue
@Frank Lol, and I needed to lol! Since the use can't mark something status-completed, can we add a comment and flag for a moderator to do it? I have an example if you need one.

@Sue It's not a huge priority for the SE team, understandably. I'd let it go.

Private betas start on Tuesdays or Wednesdays, right?

@Doorknob idk.
Coffee's coming out.

I'm more interested in when Vim will launch, of course

10:31 PM
@Doorknob ik
@Doorknob pretty close, too.

user259867
@Doorknob The five most recent -- LH, Econ, HSM, Emacs, WB -- all started on a Tuesday.

user259867
At 19:00 UTC.

Hmm, so if we get our 5 remaining committers by today then we might have a shot at launching tomorrow. (It'll probably be next week, though :( )

user259867
It would not be that fast, a beta can wait for more than a week after reaching 100%. And now some of the employees are upgrading the datacenter instead of setting up the databases and domains, etc.

Sue
@Shokhet Back at ya!

@AnnaLear Okay, that's what I thought

@Doorknob idk what that link says, don't have privs there.

10:48 PM
if you hit 100% right now, it'll still be next week launch at earliest (barring anything like holidays, snowpocalypses, etc on our end)

@KevinBrown Oh yeah!

@Doorknob lol

@AnnaLear I read that last part as "or our end", made me feel sad :(
