Bug: Starring long code blocks, viewing the rest of the code by clicking show full text, and the star status of that message (whether you've starred it or not) will be lost when the next message comes in

7 hours later…
5:04 PM
@YiJiang Can you explain that a little more? I've tried to reproduce this, but failed to.

5:19 PM
Hrm, when gravatars don't load (seems to be an intermittent issue the last few days, shame on you Gravatar!), for some reason the user doesn't get any name next to their message either.

Q: The nobodies of chat

Andy E's headIt seems that it's possible for gravatars and screen names to not be displayed properly in chat. Check out the following screenie: As you can see, the user chatting is Marco. Marco came in first, followed by the user next to him (whose name I can't remember). Marco's screen name and gravata...

Ah, thanks :)

Has anybody seen this happen who does not have rchiang's GM script installed?
(I'm not saying it's related; just want to make sure -- I see the message IDs in @TimStone's screenshot)

We don't touch anything related to that. ;) I don't think that Andy E's Head has it, but I don't know that for sure (and now I see that you've asked him :P)

I'm just checking now; it seems to be unrealated -- if the server call to retrieve the user infos fails, it's indeed never repeated
however, the user name then should be stuck on "loading..."

Right, and the "loading..." does show up initially.
Also, in the user list on the right, even though the image doesn't load I do see their name as the alt text, so the user's name is available at least somewhere.

yes, that's to be expected
well, for me, because I wrote the code :)

Heh ;)

5:48 PM
can you say since when you've seen this happen?

rchiang?

@rchern would you rather be yichern?

@balpha I've only noticed it happen the last day or two, because that's the only time that I've seen any gravatar fail to load.

rchianstozek?

@TimStone so definitely longer than 5 hours? Just asking because there was a very recent change to a related piece of code

5:50 PM
@balpha Yes, this occurred at least twelve hours ago

i just saw it once, this morning

okay

if you happen to see that again and have the correct tools running, it'd be great if you could check for a recent ajax call to /user/info, and whether it failed
but I'll try to reproduce it

Will do :)

5:54 PM
like i commented, i figured it was just an issue with my connection. was surprised to see it reported hehe
