@TGMCians interesting enough, looks like he's not suspended in chat: chat.stackoverflow.com/users/622310 so in theory he can still use chat on SO...

I do think there is a policy to suspend users if they post an un-popular question that generates a heated/nasty comment debate and shortly after that they post another one even more over the top, incoherent rant. That is where user protection kicks in with a cool off suspension.

@rene Yes, it's the policy of common sense

Hello! There is a new physics proposal on Area 51 and it needs all the support it can get. Please support it by following it and adding example questions. The purpose of the site is to have answers to problem solving questions about physics that show work.

12:35 PM
@heather IOW, a physics homework site?

12:46 PM
Not to burst your bubbles, but it's near impossible for a proposal like that to work.

It got a lot of bubbles today ...

There have been previous attempts at making physics, chemistry etc. homework sites. This now-deleted site seems to be one of the first examples that comes up in Google. It's a bumpy road you're stepping on; you have to try very hard to ensure it doesn't become a halp-me ghetto, providing that you get the necessary number of followers. — M.A.R. 2 mins ago
@rene Well, you promote it on a bunch of metas and chatrooms, and it will get followers.
The tricky thing is to steadily attract followers.

@M.A.R. yeah, I was looking for a meta post which ruled out such advertising but it turns out this is kind of allowed on meta's
@M.A.R. yeah. agree on that. It is a waste if you only barely attract enough users to get a proposal launched

@rene Eh, sometimes people downvote these proposals.
I remember one that was so heavily downvoted on meta.Chem, they had to delete it

Q: What are acceptable ways of promoting your Area 51 proposal?

RLHI have two proposals on Area 51. I'd like to get the word out about them, however, I don't know of to many Stack Exchange users who would be interested in these sites. I'm not trying to necessarily ask a subjective question, but what are some effective channels that we can use to at least drive...

1:15 PM
@M.A.R. obviously @heather missed that.

@ShadowWizard And S007 missed this

Q: Is it OK to promote a Proposal in related SE meta sites?

RoyProposal: Animation May I advertise this proposal in related SE meta sites and proposals? e.g. Gamedev, Movies, Audio Video Production, Graphic Design etc.?

But I'm not gonna comment and tell him, because then I'd again be accused of 'being the police'

Q: Support Physics Problem Solving on Area 51

S007I know there are many Physics enthusiasts on Chemistry SE. I would invite them to have a look at the new site proposal on Area 51. Presently Physics SE isn't meant for problem-solving. It is more about specific physics concepts. The new site wishes to be what Physics SE isn't, i.e. a platform to...

@M.A.R., my apologies, I can alert S007 to that post. @ShadowWizard, I've read the two posts, and I'll refrain from doing the comments I have been doing. Please, accept my sincere apologies.

Sure, NP.

Anonymous feedback is hardly functional. Clicking an arrow and getting told "nope, can't change that number" makes the impression one isn't expected our invited to submit feedback. There are some nice words in the message, but UX effect is discouraging.

user315433
The lack of call to action regarding feedback reinforces that impression.

FR: deliver monthly summary of anonymous feedback on your posts as an inbox message. One more notification per month wouldn't be a burden, but could lead to both "yay, I'm an Internet rockstar" and "what's the deal, did I miss the point of the question?"

Q: What should we do about Greatest Hits?
