@NickCraver yeah, I think you might be carrying too much baggage from the Facebook experience. Couldn't you provide a slimmer set of features without the insane weight?
Minisites != Facebook minisite
I know I'm grasping here, but if I can implement the features using just your public API I don't see why it should impact the core site.
@NickCraver @BenCollins Whether we call is a minisite or a subsite or a custom portal, SE needs to develop ways of scoping communities of interest within SE sites.
If you think of a better model (forget the implementation details, get the UI) then post it on meta for discussion - we're absolutely open to ideas, just be sure to consider how the lists of anything work: questions, answers, badges, user profiles, etc.
if you are thinking 'software recommendations' - i tried that, after been told in chat that it was okay (and edited twice by 2 other members), it was closed
ok your call of course...but please consider putting the same effort into improving that question with more detail and what your options are (you didn't include phone platform, OS on the laptop, how they're connected, what connections are available, etc.)
without those parameters, no one can answer what program works, for example iOS vs android is a significantly different question
sitting in the sun for 3-6 hours when I do these experiments are draining - I like to sit on a deck chair and do my science from the cmfort of an air conditioned verandah

@JeroenVannevel It's almost like there should be a way to group related bunches of functions together.
software recs may make sense to up that limit slightly on, @Undo thoughts?

@animuson on behalf of @user who is trying to get attention for a flag, is there anything you could do to let him chat here (or get the attention of an SO mod).
Hi all. Anyone know how to tell in data explorer if a question has been merged? I tried checking to see if it has a join with PostLink, but that isn't filtering out merged questions.
My query is working passably now. I'm finding questions untouched for years. Should we do anything with ostensibly-sensible questions that have no upvotes, no answers and haven't been touched in years? Flag them somehow?
I tried the first method but it showed error in
Pane controller = new CtrlMainMenu();
and
((Region)newValue).setPrefWidth(initWidth); //make sure is a Region!
((Region)newValue).setPrefHeight(initHeight);
What does it mean to have an 'invalid flags' flag receiving the 'disputed - a moderator reviewed your flag, but found no evidence to support it' status while the answer is not removed?
You can merge all this branches to your own deadend branch with git "ours" merge strategy.
I write blog post about it here: http://itroot.org/how-to-save-deleted-git-branches.html
I had the same problem when setting up my website. I wish I remembered how to fix it, I had to have someone more experienced come help me with it. I still just don't get this stuff. I'm glad I have smart people in my family. www.svmrestore-victoria.ca
@PaulHicks For future reference, if you have a pending edit you can click the edit button and it will load it in. Submitting it will update the currently pending suggested edit.
Yes thanks, I knew that. I wanted to get a few lines that I'd deleted from the original message and leave them in, I was wondering if that was possible.
My God, READ the QUESTION, Youre NOT answering the QUESTION, Youre just looking for a way to make yourselves look good. I remember such a tool for converting HLP to CHM, but this drive crashed. You will find this tool however with Google searches I am reasonably certain. I will undertake this mys...
That's exactly what caching would do. Cache reloads/updates itself every X minutes, you get to see potentially stale stuff. Deletes don't invalidate all the caches.
How does this obfuscated javascript code work?
Is not a puzzle and it isn't related in any way to the site. So how come it is migrated from stackoverflow to here?
@JanDvorak twas migrated because it was a puzzle. Two users who commented on it (and others that were deleted) even referred to it as not a programming problem, but think of it in terms of a puzzle. Reading the "Programming Puzzles" help center, it wasn't entirely clear what you mean by 'puzzle'.
I'm not forcing you to read it, CAPS are to indicate the importance of not telling me there are other questions similar to this. This was specially made for the kind of people that doesn't have anything better to do in life than to feel offended by CAPS LOCK, instead of answering the question. — Carlos Andres Torrenegra E1 min ago
While this answer may theoretically answer the question, it is better to include the essential parts of the answer here, and provide the link for reference. — hichris123Feb 2 at 18:01
@hichris123 do your work. Its none of your business — niksyesterday
@JanDvorak Based on the users reputation, you can tell he's rather new, you could just have asked politely to change the title. You were rude as well. — Merlevede58 secs ago
It is incredibly rare that I down-vote on this or any other community site. I would rather just ignore the item. However, occasionally some very bad advice is given that is worthy of a down vote. Why should this adversely affect the reputation of the down-voter?
"This was specially made for the kind of people that doesn't have anything better to do in life than to feel offended by CAPS LOCK, instead of answering the question." .... wouldn't that suggest that you shouldn't write your title in all caps to begin with?
It's not that I ran out of function names - it's a function to tell the Path that it will not be using anymore pieces of it, so to speak.
(It's slightly more complicated than that.)
Crap. I just realized I never wrote any code for the database. Ugh.
I don't understand why this question is historically locked. Honestly, as someone who just ended up there from Google after becoming curious, I didn't find any of those answers very useful in explaining the difference.
I'm starting to think that reviewers understand reviews as a sort of "is this an audit" game and that they are supposed to accept everything that isn't vandalism.
Someone should build an app that keeps a list of "problem users" and watches for new suggested edits from them, then sends a notification to anyone on the list.
I've made 50+ edits on SO, and I always have to wait for my edits to be peer-reviewed because my reputation (672) isn't high enough yet.
Shouldn't we give edit privileges based on the number of "trustworthy edits" made, in addition to the reputation privilege? It'd be more efficient, since the "...
I am new in Android, I want to convert the PCM stream to Vorbis OGG programmatically. This is required in my project requirement.
I went through many links but did not find much information. Please help me if you can.
Wow, are you sure you are up against "hidden files" and not trying to reverse engineer some cloak and dagger type stuff that is some corporation's idea of security? We may not be able to recommend something without knowing exactly what crazy stunt has been pulled with your discs. — Caleb48 secs ago
I'm going to remain silent on this one @JanDvorak. My clicking history has recently been subject of discussion in this very chatroom. Let's leave it at that. ;)
